The man was somewhat enjoying a day off in the Capital, it was always a place with new faces and sights, however ... he was starting to get bored with his routine here. He'd come out here and get a decent hotel, hit up a cafe or bakery or two during the day and then the bar at night before heading home ... alone. That was the part that was getting to him. He was always alone .... and not the type that Lachlan or Beowulf could assist in. But he was also well aware that he was an odd looking fellow to say the least, even know that he had himself a shiny title and a bipedal form .... he was still an oddity. He had fangs, scruff, a lack of height and of course four extra arachnid limbs .... bah. The company he wanted, he didn't get, the type he got ... well, there wasn't enough booze in all the realms to make him want. Maybe he just needed a distraction? That would do for the time being. Maybe he just needed to stop being an idiot and drink his coffee? Yeah, that sounded even better. He had always loved this little corner cafe ... it was great for people watching to.

(Lawl, I'm going to set this in the same day as our OTHER thread, huzzah!) They were on their way to get his book, of course, and not for a moment could he forget his most sacred of missions, but when they passed the coffee shop on the way to the library, Nephy stopped dead in his tracks. He was immediately entranced by what he saw in the window. It was so green and full of legs. Big, mechanical legs. He knew what he had to do, and he thought he knew how to do it. "Mama," he said, suddenly, "you want some coffee, don't you?" His mama loved coffee. He hoped she was open to the suggestion. And what luck! She veered, absently, into the shop, tugging Nephy along, as though the words had come from thin air rather than her child. He shook himself free of her while she ordered and went up to the green man. "I like your arms," he said. "Will you give me a ride?"

He was stuck in his thoughts until a little voice caught his attention. He'd missed all of the first statement besides 'arms' and the second one almost made him choke on his coffee. He blinked a few times in rapid succession before tilting his head and peering down at the little chap by his table. A male Yarrow? Now that... was interesting. You didn't exactly see them around everyday ... nor did they ask you for rides often either.
Maybe he'd been around army boys and guards for a little too much of his life, but that could definitely be taken the wrong way. Except, of course, the age range that the speaker had to fit into. Children generally didn't start making those sorts of offers this early. Unless of course the youth of today was for more corrupt then he could possibly fathom.
He was entirely unsure as of what to say, especially since a yarrow child probably had a yarrow mother and those were generally not the type of women you liked to run into if you were a male. He ended up setting his cup down gently and turning toward the young skunk and answerign a question with a question.
Excuse me?

Nephy didn't ordinary like repeating himself--he often asked his tutors if they were stupid or something, since they tended to just repeat questions Nephy asked back to him, like they couldn't even conceive of him asking them--but he was so thrilled by the arms and the prospect of fun that he didn't mind doing so for the giant green chipmunk.
His mama was still busy trying to order something ridiculous from the barista--who ordered pickle-flavored mochas with sunflower seeds and raspberry swirls? His mama, apparently. She had strange tastes. But that meant he probably had enough time to accomplish his mission, if the coffee-person's utterly bewildered expression were anything to go by.
"Your arms," he said, tail swooshing back and forth in excitement. "I like them a lot. You're like a big green pony. Would you mind giving me a ride?"

A big ... green.... pony? That was just the strangest thing he'd ever heard. This child was strange, that was certain, but how long had it been since he'd done something odd and only for amusement? Since he was about this boy's age, actually. He thought it over for a moment and maybe, just maybe.... he'd do it. Well, as long as some angry she-beast didn't come and try and rip off his man bits for touching her adventurous spawn of course.
your parents wouldn't disapprove of you doing something so... odd with a stranger, would they?
He arched a brow and flicked an ear forward as he took another sip of his coffee. It was always better to be safe then very, very sorry. And, suits, Yarrow's could be terrifying when you pissed them off. He'd heard stories, so many gruesome, detailed stories.
If you can assure me an angry banshee won't come and rip me to shreds, I just might be willing to honor your request. That, and if you give me something to call you besides little bushy tail.
His grin and his tone held a little tinge of amusement to them.

"Don't be silly," Nephy assured him, happy beyond measure that the green arm-beast seemed inclined to acquiesce to his request. Though he really wasn't certain what banshees had to do with it. His brain could not make the connection between them and his mother. "Banshees only foretell a death or announce it, they don't cause it. They do wail a lot, though, which might be irritating. But I think they only do that if your family is very important." He paused, then added: "And I'm Nephy! My mom wouldn't mind at all; she always encourages us to try new things. This in fact would be very tame compared to all the things I could be doing."
There! He thought that covered everything; with luck he had satisfied all the requirements for a ride. He looked up at the man with an expression of expectant hope.
