He grinned as the tiger spoke so... fondly of his mother, he knew very well how she was and all of that but the Diamond's face, and tone, just made it all the better, and funny as well. He chuckled a bit, little brush of a tail twitching happily behind him. Oh how he'd missed times like these!
He listened ot his friend go on about his new living arrangements and job and just grinned the whole time, keeping his little ears perked and focused on the cat, until of course it was his turn to chime in... really, he didn't mind letting the feline chatter on as long as it was interesting and not... repetitive. His own mother had a tendency to tell you the same thing five times in a row... just word it slightly different each time. The squirrel also had an innate ability to know exactly when you weren't paying attention to her ... perhaps that was the result of having a childish husband and raising four children?
I'm staying in the palace, it works though cause I tend to take on extra shifts anyhow. It's gotten to the point where if anyone has something come up, or gets sick ... they ask me if I want to cover for them first ... it's probably cause I almost always say yes.... but... I like to think it's cause I do a good job and don't sully their own reputations.
He couldn't help but flash the tiger a toothy grin, he really did love his job ...

Lachlan could see the very tip of the Chipmunk's tail wiggling behind him and tried to hide his smile. He hadn't realized until today just how much he missed his childhood friends, especially Jarvis. Life had been so carefree when they were younger; they didn't have any idea the worries of day by day life as an adult.
While the Chipmunk explained his living conditions a server brought their drinks and danishes, setting them all carefully in front of the both of them. The coffee aroma wafted under Lachlan's nose and his mouth began to water. It had been a long time since he'd had any coffee he could call good. Dropping some sugar and cream into the black liquid, turning it to a warm brown color, Lachlan stirred the mixture while waiting for it to go from scalding hot to drinkable.
"You do remember how to say no though, right? Don't you dare let any of those guys start taking advantage of you, because the moment you allow it they'll be all over you. I wouldn't want to have to beat any heads in," Lachlan said, teasing and knowing full well his little friend was more than capable of taking care of himself.
Experimentally he blew on the coffee and lapped at the liquid but quickly backed up as it seared his tongue. Better stick to the Bear Claw...

I do, I make sure to have at least one day off a week and well... I'm here on vacation now! I've got a whole week off.
He wiggled his tail some more when their pastries and coffee came. They always used to get some looks when they got coffee, the big, burly tiger put sugar and cream in his whilst the chipmunk simply drank it black ... they didn't get any more looks, this place knew them, but it still amused him. Grinning, he picked up his own bear claw with a dexterous paw and dipped it in the hot coffee and nibbled on it, waiting for his coffee to cool before being an idiot and taking a sip.
So what else is new? Any lady friends?
His grin broadened a bit more after that even as he bent forward to blow on his coffee a bit. 'Gossip' was definitely part of catching up.

Lachlan stopped nibbling on the flaky danish to look questioningly at his companion. The Tiger tried asking a question, but stopped as bits of bread spit out of his mouth and onto the table in front of them both. Not embarrassed, he flicked the pieces onto the floor and started again.
"So you've actually taken a vacation? Did they force you to do it, because I just don't see you taking all that time off on your own." Lachlan's face brightened as he considered the implications of a vacation. "A whole week you say? How many days do you have left?"
Lachlan watched Jarvis dunk his danish in the coffee and raised an eyebrow. Sweet bread and the dark liquid, together? What an interesting idea. Copying his friend, he dunked a broken off piece of his bear claw. A few drops of coffee landed on the table as he quickly shoved the piece of donut into his massive maw. It took a few seconds of chewing for the combined flavor to soak its way to his taste buds. The Tiger let out a groan of satisfaction as soon as the flavors settled on his tongue.
"Oh, that's good." Lachlan licked his muzzle and looked back up at Jarvis, his mouth twisting into a mischievous smile. "No long term commitments, if that's what you mean. But I never lack female companionship, or interesting trysts. The last female I was with was, shall we say, not exactly available."
Lachlan wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at his friend. "What about you. Any femmes catch your eye yet?"

He flipped his ears back a bit at the tiger's rather melodramatic reaction, was it really that bizarre that he'd be taking an entire week off? His ears slowly came back up as he realized that, yes, indeed.... this was a rather bizarre situation for him. He was always the type to have some sort of job ever since they were old enough to hold them, and before that he was the weird kid that did all their chores and didn't complain about it once. Oh yes, he was a strange little workaholic wasn't he? He also knew that it was never a good thing for Lachlan to be right, either, and he eyed the tiger suspiciously for a moment before his features brightened.
I've got about 3 days left, my parents have been full of strange questions ... although my sister is quite jealous, jealous enough not to ask about you.
It was common knowledge that his older sister had a thing for the tiger and showed it in her... crazy, somewhat violent manner. His sister was odd, and fond of whacking things with her sheathed sword ... he felt sorry for Lachlan sometimes... but the feline generally did things to... lessen that feeling.
Lachlan! I thought you were a tiger, not a dog!
The chipmunk didn't care in the least that his little outburst drew attention ot them, he was having a nice little get together with an old friend... and a few sets of eyes on them just.... wouldn't put a damper on his morning. At the return question though, his little banded tail stiffened for a moment before he turned his attention more on his coffee cup. He was a hard worker... but he'd just ... never been good at the whole... lady aspect of life.
Well ... no ... not really. There are some pretty woman in the Court, but they're all out of my league you know ...
Wow, talking about girls was still awkward for him.
