Whenever the pair went to the Capital, they got some stares. Not only were they an interesting, and rather fetching mix of regions, but they way they moved .... and how closely they resembled each other didn't help keep the attention away. And when their binding was discovered? Well, that got the most stares. Indeed they were twins and indeed they were bound together. So what? The smaller of the two with the longer hair, chin fluff and purple markings walked with his head held high and his tail up a bit and waving ever so slightly. The ends of his mouth curled up into a bit of a smirk as he walked in perfect sync with his brother. One could almost say he looked as if he were looking for a bit of... .trouble. The more muscular of the two didn't hold his head particularly high, but not all that low either and his expression was practically unreadable in it's neutrality. Although the look in his eyes betrayed the fact that he was rather bored. Azriel needed to hurry up and find them some entertainment before the day bored his fur right off. And then, for a moment, they both stopped dead in their tracks without any noticeable bit of communication between the two. Azriel nudged his brother's cheek with his nose and gestured toward a rather interesting looking feline from where they called home. Hmmm, one ear? She might be feisty. The feisty ones were always fun. The pair started to move again only to stop and sit once they were near enough to their target. They both peered at her curiously and twined their tails together before Azriel began to speak to the darling little thing. Well hello there, how might we be of assistance to a lady such as yourself? Katriel simply flashed her his best, toothy smile but remained silent.

It took a bit of getting used to, this new form. Eldy certainly liked it, and she did her best to sort of ignore her family's mutters of what basically amounted to 'about time'. She'd never truly needed anything but her Animal form before. Now, though, she was actually taking the odd mercenary job, and despite the recommendation of the current Queen of Diamonds, it helped to shut up the doubters when she could show them her Biped. But she'd also been getting a lot more stares, and it made her a bit self-conscious. Eldy twitched her remaining ear nervously, poking at her soup. The truth was that she wasn't all that hungry, and she was eager to be back in the shadows and out of the public eye. " You know, if you looked a slight bit more confident and happy, most of them wouldn't be staring," stated a cultured voice from the table beside her. Eldy gave the small Wurm a withering look, and he sighed. " Or don't believe me. It's your choice Master Eldy." He tipped the tea cup he was sitting near towards him and took a polite sip, but then froze, ears twitching, and looked behind her. A second later, there was a voice speaking to her...and Eldy turned, frowning slightly, to see...what... She could only stare for a moment at the odd sight. Were those two...bound together? She blinked, remembering that one had spoken, and hastily biting back the first, sarcastic response to come to mind. She was getting a bit better at that. " Hi," she said hesitantly. " I, uh...I was just eating lunch." It sounded lame, but was far more polite than the other words floating around in her head.

The pair were well accustomed to their binding beign a point of disgust, intrigue, wonder.... or any number of other adjectives. It wasstrange, sure, but neither of them could think of a proper way to express how dearly they cherished the link. It wasn't what they had when they were born, but... it made each feel complete and chased the nightmares away. It wasaphysicalmanifestation of the link their minds shared. Of course no one else would get it so... why bother?
Instead,Azriel lifted his paw, Katriel followign suit a fraction of a second later, and he wiggled his paw at her to make the chain dance. His ears perked and the smirk intensified a bit as he kept his purple gaze upon her. Yes, she seemed like she might be a fun one indeed.
He inclined his head ot her own binding, before peering back up at her.
It's a lot like yours, really, only mine has a pulse and probably makes better company.
Amusement sparkled in his twin's orange eyes, but still, the larger twin said nothing.
Eatting it, or playing with it? Dear girl, you certainly didn't seem too pleased with it from afar. Indeed. You actually seemed to be thinking you'd rather be somewhere else, doing soemthign else.
They placed their paws back to the ground in unison as both brothers were looking up at her face now. Katriel had the friendlier smiler whereas Azriel's looked a little more... sinister.
Something troubling you?

Eldy's eyes were drawn to the raised paws and the chain wiggling. She couldn't really help it. It was just...not anything she'd ever seen the like of before. Her purple eyes narrowed slightly. Was the man really saying that being attached to his brother was like carrying around a ball and chain? That actually seemed a bit insulting to the quiet guy, but a glance at him showed the Torque mix to have much the same expression as before.
"Sure it is," she muttered, unable to fully keep the sarcasm out of her voice. As the man went on though...her hand gripped the table a little tighter, claws coming out and digging into the wood. She really didn't like others whose observational skills were better than the average. It made her a bit edgy. A gentle touch on her hand reassured her that Thaddeus was there, and was also paying close attention to the twins.
"I find the soup isn't quite salty enough here," she said dryly, with a small, tight smile. If they really thought she was naive enough to reveal her life story to two perfect strangers, they had another thought coming. She'd just seen too much in her life for that, and something about that man's smile seemed almost...predatory. "And what if something was? You don't even know my name," she challenged him, tail swishing idly. Two, after all, could play at this...this whatever this was. Thaddeus bristled a bit and leveled a small glare at the men. He wasn't sure he liked this situation.
"I believe we should take our leave of them," he said to Eldy in an undertone.

The two shared a glance before turning their attention back to the bipedal feline, a big, toothy grin replacing the smirk on Azriel's face when she decided to play at his game. He placed his one black paw on his chest and threw a little of the old diamond charm her way, he did so love making introductions be as wonderful as possible.
Well my dear, we could always change that, couldn't we? I'm sure you've got quite a lovely name.
The twins curled their tail together a little tighter as Azriel paused for a moment before inclining his head to his larger twin.
This is Katriel, do not mind his silence... he isn't being rude just simply hasn't spoken since we were kittens. I'm Azriel, and whom might you be?
He was rather proud of himself for biting his tongue against making a perverse comment on how exactly to fix the saltiness of her soup. They were looking for a bit of fun this afternoon, and girls generally weren't pleased with his sense of humor. After being slapped as many times as he had been, he'd finally learned a little something about the importance of the brain - mouth filter.

Eldy gave Thaddeus a quick look that said she could handle this, for now, and the little Wurm frowned and curled himself about her wrist, careful that his spikes not pierce through her fur. He didn't like this situation, not at all. He didn't trust these two with his Master.
Eldy turned and gave them that dangerous smile. "My name is Eldryia," she told them, ear flicking back at how friendly Azriel suddenly sounded. At least they'd given their names first, right? She told herself that was a good sign and poked a bit more at her soup. "But most everyone calls me Eldy," she added after a moment. Despite the fact that she wasn't a big fan of that odd smile that man was sporting, or how nosy they both were, the logical part of her mind said there was no overt reason to distrust them, yet. Besides...she was very curious about them. She'd never met anyone with such an odd binding. And no matter what Azriel said, it wasn't very similar to hers at all.

Katriel picked up his black paw and placed it on his chest as well and, after a glance between the two, the both gave her a courteous little bow in unison. They both rose and placed their respective black paws back on the ground at the same time as well. They had had many a boring night in Torquehelm to practice such things through the years. It was weird, but it was kind of fun as well.
you're not around Torquehelm much, are you?
He flipped his ears forward and gave her a bit of a once over. Despite their primarily being Hisstor, they lived in the dreary realm with their still grieving mother. She was .... pretty pathetic, but they both felt they owed it to her not ot just up and leave. They didn't want anything to do with the guilt that would come if she decided to kill herself. They were.... stuck, really.
And he couldn't remember ever seeing her around, and the way she had stared at their binding, yes. She had to be one of those city Torques.
He tilted his head ot the side a bit, tail tip twitching, She had an air about her, might just be from her suit, but he'd go out on a limb and see if he might be able to creep her out more. He was probably wrong, generally was when he said this to others, but it was worth a shot.
Court bred, aren't you?

Eldy blinked when they bowed for her. Okaaaay, that was a little... bizarre. She honestly couldn't think of a single reason they would have done such a thing, unless they were trying to impress her. Which made her want to laugh. Did getting a new form really make her that much different? She'd known it garnered her higher respect in the Capital and with stuffy bureaucrats, sure, but to some random Cards on the street?
She frowned, slightly, at the next not-question. Oh, it was worded like a question, but he certainly acted as if he already knew the answer. "No, I've only been there once," she said, wondering if he knew everyone in the Realm. That was more than a bit creepy. Of course, it could only get worse from there. At his next not-question, she had to cover a twitch of surprise, and didn't quite succeed. Narrow purple eyes met his, and from her arm came a warning growl from Thaddeus.
"Why do you say that?" she asked airily, trying to act as if she didn't care. But her mind was racing. Did he know her Mother, somehow? Was she holding herself like a noble? The thought rather disgusted her and she really doubted it. Everyone knew her sister was royalty just from her manner, and she and Eldy were as night and day. Did he have some sort of...creepy ability?
Or was it just a really lucky guess? Her tail twitched.

In all actuality, they did know her mother. However, the woman had been in her human form so the relation was lost to even Azriel's calculating mind. Everyone had tells, and there was a certain something that changed in her eyes when he brought up the court bred thing. Well, if that didn't just seal his assumption as fact, he didn't know what did. And, ah, how adorable... she was trying to get him off that track. He kept up his diamond charm even as his smile shifted into a smirk. He flicked his ear toward the little wurm around her wrist, choosing to ignore such an insignificant little .... thing.
There's just an air about you, the way you speak, a little in the way you hold yourself. It's a hard thing to hide completely.
Especially from someone who spent as much time people watching as he did. Katriel had no real interest in it and usually napped while he watched, but people and their interactions were fascinating to him. Did he really desire to have mroe interactions himself? No, not really... if it wasn't for the fact that other people could be fun little playthings, he'd be perfectly happy with just his brother for company. He had everything he needed attached to him already.
This was just recreation, maybe with some undertones of him believing it kept his mind sharp. however, most of his thoughts on being an incredibly intelligent individual were all in his own head. He could act like it though, right? Yes, he thought so.
Who's your friend?
Finally he inclined his head to the wurm, still smirking and never letting his gaze move from her face as he did. Katriel on the other hand, peered at the little guy with perked up ears and amusement shining in his golden eyes. If he curled up into a little ball, that little thing just might be fun to bat between his paws for hours! That was his sort of entertainment.

Eldy's eyes narrowed, most certainly not liking that answer. The way she held herself? Was he calling her stuck up? And the way she spoke? HA. She knew she had far less pretty language than a lot of nobles, even when she was consciously trying to be polite. Which, really, she was starting to feel less and less inclination to do. "Oh? And I suppose you're the expert on hiding things, huh?" She knew she was getting a bit defensive, but something about this line of questioning had her hackles up.
When he asked about her familiar, though, she held her arm up, actually...smirking slightly. "Oh, him? This is Thaddeus...I don't think he likes you very much. You don't really wanna make him angry," she said casually, tail twitching and eyes bright with challenge, now.
The little Wurm Held his head a bit higher. "I most certainly do not," he said in a rich, cultured tone. "Frankly, sirs, I do not wish to mince words here. What, pray tell, are thy intentions with my Master? If you wish her harm, I can promise you will not enjoy the consequences."
