Felix had never intended to fall asleep in the deserted park. Of course, it hadn't been deserted when he'd first decided that the soft patch of grass looked like a good place to lie down and sunbathe for a little bit. There had been plenty of pleasant background noise around...children playing, parents talking and gossiping, working Cards hurrying past on their way home from their daily grind...none of it had overpowered the effects of the warm sunlight on his fur, and the Porcupine had drifted slowly off. When he woke up, everything was dark, and the park was entirely deserted. " Aw man, how long was I out?" Felix mumbled, standing up and stretching to get the kinks out of his back. His quills rustled as he shook his head to try and clear the last foggy bits of sleep away. He frowned as he glanced up at the sky, at the pale glow cast by the street lamps on the sidewalk. " Long enough to miss the carriage home, looks like," he answered himself, and then shrugged. " Ah well." This just meant that he'd have to find one of his normal hotels to stay at for the night. After all, it wasn't like this hadn't happened plenty of times before. The Porcupine ambled in an unhurried fashion back towards the street lined with apartments...and tilted his head in confusion. Was he...lost? He didn't exactly know where he was, so that probably meant that yes, he was lost. This, however, didn't bother him much either. If he couldn't find a hotel, he decided, he'd just find a bar and spend the night drinking until he passed out.

It was hungry. It had been sleeping for some time, tucked underneath a house with a log-burning stove that had kept him warm and comfortable for whatever length of time had passed. It had no real concept of time as the beings around it did; lives passed around it and it floated through them, not concerned with anything not concerning its next meal. Today, though, was eating day, and it was now time to move and find its energy source. It floated along the houses, careful to stay lurk in the shadows so its hide wouldn't flap in the wind and cause someone to take notice of it. It was nearing dusk, and there were few Cards about, and none that looked distracted enough to bother with until it reached a stretch of apartment buildings, and a lone Selkie stood looking bewildered by his surroundings. The Beast slipped from the protection of the building's shadow and slid behind an expanse of bushes next to the sidewalk, the grass rustling ever so slightly as it floated over it. It waited, watching the Selkie from between the twigs.

Upon walking down one street, and then another, and then another with no sign of anything but apartments and cute little stores that were all closed for the night, Felix began to wonder if he'd been under the influence of something heavy when he'd laid down in that park, since -none- of this looked even vaguely familiar. He didn't remember partaking of anything unusual, but then, that was part of the point, right? His ears pressed back against his skull and he paused, sitting on his haunches to glance around and try to get some vague sense of direction.
Just when he was thinking he'd have to knock on someone's door to get inside...he thought he heard something in the bushes behind him. He turned around, quills moving so quickly that they clacked together, and peered into the darkness. "Hello? Is there someone there?" He wasn't afraid. He had no need to be. Between his quills and his horns, not much would mess with him, and besides, he didn't let much bother him. He didn't have much in the way of money or anything on him.
Of course, after he didn't see anything around or get a response, the Porcupine shrugged and turned to continue lumbering down the street in what he hoped was the direction of a hotel.

((Doing a bit of powerplaying/assuming here as to what happens with the Beast absorbing him. <3 Let me know if you want me to change anything.))
Instinctively the Beast shrouded down further behind the bush, and tucked in his ragged bits of hide that might have been showing around the edges. It ceased moving, turning itself into as silent of an amorphous figure as possible, and simply stared through the leaves at the prickly creature in front of it.
It waited only for a moment after the porcupine had turned and begun his quest once again before slipping around the bush and following. It had made up its mind that the Selkie was to be its meal, and the conquest was a simple one: no fight was necessary, just a touch, and he would be done for.
It sped up, flitting along the road at as high of speed it could manage, and came to a stop just behind the porcupine, and allowed its hide to brush against the flat part of Felix's back quills. Immediately Felix was sucked into the Beast's being, and the Beast "fell" to the ground with the impact of it almost immediately, its eyes closing as it savored the energy it was taking.
While it was still capable of movement, it slunk back to the apartment buildings and huddled in the alleyway, concealed by two large garbage containers and several trash bags that waited for pick up.
------
Exactly a day later, Felix was dropped behind those same garbage bins. The Beast, energized, scanned the alley for inhabitants, then quickly escaped and headed back out the way it had came, toward the houses.
When it touches another card or Rabbit it will absorb them into its body, creating a new "patch" of colored flesh on its hide. The person within will normally be released after a day has passed, and will then be left in a catatonic state for upwards of an hour.
((PMing Nat now!))

In the end, Felix had never known what hit him. One minute he was searching for the hotel, and the next...he knew nothing.
When Felix awoke, he was lying on the ground...near the trash. His nose wrinkled a bit, and he groaned and tried to push himself up. When he found this to be a bit harder than he'd hoped, the Porcupine settled for sitting huddled over and trying not to gag. Feeling fuzzy, he rubbed at his head. "What happened?" he mumbled to himself, golden eyes confused. He remembered waking up in the park and going to look for a hotel, and then...
And then...
Felix stiffened. He remembered now...he'd seen...himself. Or, well, it had sort of looked like him. But the proportions had been all wrong, and the eyes had been burning and...and it had swallowed him up, somehow! The world seemed to be jittery, somehow, and he realized he was shaking. How was that even possible? How had he been eaten by....himself? He'd almost been willing to believe that he'd just had some bad drugs or something, but he didn't feel like he did when waking up from a drug-induced haze.
Felix swallowed against the bad taste in his mouth and tried to get under control.
