MOAR MOAR UPDATES!
So! The wedding is OVAH. And it went spectacularly, amazingly, gorgeously well. I am thrilled beyond belief how well everything went, especially considering there were many last-minute changes and confusion and lack of information.
Thursday night I arrived at my hometown where the wedding was taking place. It was a family friend's 80th birthday, so despite the fact I was exhausted and had been at work late and had to drive a couple hours, I still made it over to said older friend's to celebrate for an hour or so.
Friday I had to get up crazy early and go to the DMV to take care of some long-standing registration issues, met up with paternal unit so he could do MANLY THINGS like swap my tires around and put on my new license plates. (My dad is awesome.) Had a telephonic interview with a recruiter for a solar panel company (awesommmme!). Also, I was able to take a 2+ hour nap in his guest room. Dad gets quadruple points, since I very much needed the sleep.
After that it was group tux fitting, gathering of herbs (rosemary - and I fell into the bush that we were pruning illegally on the side of the highway... *cough cough*), then running more errands. That evening the bridal party met up, did some ceremonial ritual stuff to consecrate our being togetherness and making this wedding happen. Dinner with bridal party and parents of the brides and THEN in was bachelorette party.
Um. Suffice it to say that the bachelorette party was incredibly awkward for me (and I was tired, so not so much in the mood for shenanigans, either) and I bailed as soon as someone else had to leave. And even then I went to bed super late.
Saturday morning I was up early again because we had choir rehearsal - I had to pick someone up, get to the wedding site, then afterward we had the rehearsal wedding. I was a super crab apple and was pretty close to losing my shit a few times. (I do NOT do well at ALL with lack of sleep, so add all this stress and coordinating with others... yeah... no bueno.) Luckily, I kept myself together and we made it through. Following the rehearsal was the rehearsal lunch/everybody-mingle-and-get-to-know-each-other-now. Also, the other bridespersons and I were trying to nail down the toasts at this time, which I had written a couple days prior... guh!
After that I had to pick up all the tuxes that had had to be altered from the group fitting, ran a few more errands then made it back to my siblings' house and just CHILLED. Hot tub was had and I was able to sleep for 8 hours. Huzzah!
Wedding day: Picked up some snacks for the bridal party preparations, picked up flowers for the brides' hair (which there was much confusion over), picked up another bridesperson last minute and made my way over to the salon. Helped get the flower girls ready (aka LATHERED in sunscreen because holy hell, it was hot that day), got my hair did, helped my friend into her bridal gear and got dolled up in my tux. Hauled a bunch of the bridespeople over to the site, took a shitton of pictures, more choir rehearsal and then wham, bam, everything happened.
Ceremony happened (yes, plenty of crying was to be had - it was a really beautiful, sweet ceremony that ended with us recessing while boogie-ing to some oldschool pop rock. Then there was a Maypole dance (no joke), everyone relaxed, food happened (there was a taco truck - so epic!), dancing, first dance, last-minute gathering of bridal party and friends to rehearse the group toast (which were two songs I had rewritten to be about the brides) and then ten minutes later - TOAST! It went super awesome and everyone thought it was amazing. (Yay!) Then more dancing and then cake. OH MY GOD. The cake was AWESOME. There were three layers: One pear & almond, one chocolate with ganache and the other lemon and lemon curd. Ughsdflasdlfkjasdl;fk. So effing good. The cake(s) were made by my friend's 21 year-old culinary student friend. So, so amazing. Om nom nom.
Let's see... more dancing happened, and then I helped some of the "behind-the-scenes" folk with cleanup prep, gathered all the tuxes from everyone, wrestled them into the car with my sibs and took off. And I had been nursing a headache for the last three hours of the wedding. BUT - everything was awesome. Everyone had a super good time, it wasn't an awkward wedding at all, and it just... it was worth it. I'm so glad everything turned out.
Monday (yesterday) I slept in as long as my body allowed, got up, packed up my shit, went to breakfast with one of the sibs, returned all the tuxes and drove home. And proceeded to sit on my ass reading a book with my kitty on my lap. Hee. <3
So yeah... I'm super tired. I have to fill out some paperwork for the job I interviewed for at some point today, not to mention when work is over I have to start putting my house together. I left the boyfriend and housemate alone all weekend and they... they just made a mess. -__- I still love them, though, lol.
Um... so now I can focus more on the job search and hopefully get back on here at some point. I feel like a HUGE burden has been lifted (because it has??!) and just feel accomplished and tuckered out and all those things. Sorry for non-grammatical-ness... I just needed to get it all out, because holy crap, it was a lot. But now my friends are in Hawaii for their honeymoon and I don't have to worry about any of that stuff anymore. Teehee.
Hope all of you have been well and taking care of yourselves and having fun!!
LOVE TO YOU ALL!!!! <3 <3 <3

HOOOOOOLLYYYY SHIIIIITTTT!!
o.O;;
I wish I could afford to send you to an all weekend spa, woman!
What you did for your friends' wedding is nothing short of miraculous. If it hadn't been so stressful I'd say you could have a hand in being a wedding planner! lol
I'm glad it was a FANTASTIC event, and that it's all over. So time to concentrate on the job front! *rubs hands together* You're in my thoughts love! GOOD LUCK!
