Jak lay nearly flat by the side of the matress on the floor, as flat as his body would let him. He wore his 'normal' form, body oddly 'disfigured' and eyeball blazing above his head like a beacon. Below him, on one of the sleeping forms, a smaller blaze matched him like a tiny round inferno. He smiled in a creepily besotted fashion and shifted to be more comfortable. He had been in this position for a little while now. Well, more than a little while. Quite a while, thanks to little Sally's ability. He'd been made of stone not too long ago. Avoiding the masks that floated around a wriggling infant's head was more difficult than he might have imagined, if he'd bothered imagining such a thing. He made a noise, which caught the attention of the sightless girl and caused her to stretch out her limbs, back toes splaying and front reaching awkwardly towards him. He moved with a small grunt and reached out with his own paw to lightly brush hers. From the flop of her long, long tail, he judged that she would probably be making noise if she'd had a mouth just then. It made his smile crook into a grin. Tucked next to him was Tabby, still asleep. He'd come back to himself to find her this way, pressed against his then-stone form and snuggled tightly near his middle. Such a mama's girl, his little princess. She hadn't woken up when he regained his flesh, which was probably good, since it looked like she'd been crying. Poor little baby. He'd make her happy when she woke up. Thanks to his several month old little daughter, he'd already been turned to stone fifteen times. The other three didn't cause him nearly the problems she did, and yet he loved them all the same. She couldn't help it. She didn't know she was turning Daddy into a statue. When she got older, then they'd be able to control it. He'd lost his job because of it, though. Hadn't shown up for work three times in a row without explanation or excuse. He hadn't bothered going back. He would rather not have lost it, but he wasn't sad about it. He could find another one in a different body. They would be fine. Right now, he helped Mili look after the children so she could continue with her work. Tabby was in school during the day, but all the others were far too young.

To Aimili, the oddness of her newest set of children was completely offset by the love she felt for them. It was strange, raising children in the environment she'd fallen into, but somehow it worked. She had her Jak, and that alone might have been enough at one point. But there was more to life than just having love and babies, and somehow, they'd managed to accomplish all of that together, as well. During the day, Mili cleaned houses. It wasn't difficult work, and she'd had to take time off after the birth of each litter, but her employers were reasonable people and they had understood. It was nice being able to go back to it - it gave her some time to herself, and when she came back home, it was easy to throw herself back into motherhood. Today was a rare day, when she had been offered a day off. She wasn't about to complain, instead deciding to spend the day at home with Jak and the babies. The others would likely be off, Kieran working his mysteriously well-paying job, and Amhal doing... Whatever Amhal did. That wasn't for her to worry about. She bounced the kitten resting in her lap lightly, twining bony fingers in a chocolate mane. In response, she was given a quiet little mewl, velvety paws batting at her fingers. A smile danced across her face, amusement evident. Precious little babies, the all of them. So very much their father. That alone delighted the woman deeply. She stole a glance towards her Jak, currently engaged with Sally and Ginger. Precious girls. He finally looked to be coming out of it again, which was good. It made her feel odd whenever he was stricken in such a way, but she had almost gotten used to it. After all, she'd been there a time or two herself. From the floor, paws and claws clumped on the floor, and Buster stretched out his extra-long body, swinging a forepaw down onto a toy, tongue lolling out of his mouth. Behind him, his tail wagged eagerly, thumping loudly against the floor. An extra-hard smack of his foot against the toy sent it flying, skittering across the floor and coming to rest at his father's feet. The boy's head came to rest on the floor, and he heaved a sigh. Too far. Lael and Virote would probably be getting home soon. The younger brothers were only in preschool, but it got them out and interacting with others. It also gave Jak a little bit of a break during the day, which was good. Caring for the infants was hard enough, but infants along with children just out of toddlerhood was... An adventure, to be sure.

On the other side of Jak, a child with gold-and-white fur made a quiet 'wuff' of contentment, cuddling closer to the warmth that was her father. Though she seemed perfectly relaxed, her too-wide mouth stretched in a smile and her tail making halting motions that were still a bit too uncoordinated to be a wag, the flaming eyeball above her head was constantly roving around, curious. Mostly, it stared at her sister, entranced by the floating masks. Ginger had already been on the receiving end of that ability a few times as well, but she was too young yet to truly learn anything from the experience. Mostly, it was up to her parents to keep her out of trouble. She made another contented noise, and tried to climb up onto her Daddy, the eyeball rotating around quickly, as if to see where the rest of them were. She was glad that Daddy was warm again. There'd been no warmth a few minutes before, and it hadn't been as good. It was back now, so Ginger was happy. Briefly, her odd mouth opened wide in a little yawn.

Jak felt a ball roll against his foot, or something suspiciously like a ball, and tilted his neck carefully to confirm. Yep, a ball. He wrapped a dextrous, long-toed foot around it and then gently tossed it back in the direction of his little son, who looked to be so disappointed when he lost it. Children were so easy to please. Yet another reason he loved them.
As if to confirm that thought, a fuzzy little body snuggled against the side that Tabby wasn't currently monopolizing, the tiny limb off her butt making her contentment quite clear. The little eye rotated all over the place and he blew lightly at it, causing the flames to flicker before resuming their steady blaze. Just like Daddy. His precious little Ginger-pup. Her yawn only furthered his fuzzy, affectionate thoughts.
Did she want food? Did any of them? It wasn't his place right now, not with Mili home. He made food for them while she was at work. After Tabby, he knew how. He knew what his body needed to do to make that happen.
Sally wriggled in her sleep, her feet pedaling and propelling her further along the nest of blankets designed to keep them inside during sleep. Especially her. Her nest was separated from the others due to her special little masks, but that was fine because her Uncle Kieran had splurged on her a little bit after she was born. He bought her a stuffed toy that heated itself thanks to a tiny little enchantment. She loved her Woogie.

With a high-pitched yelp of delight, Buster flung himself towards the ball as it rolled back towards him. His movements were clumsily aided by a flap of his overly large wings, and he went tumbling across the floor. A moment later, he came to rest, pulling himself back up to his feet, tail wagging as if nothing had ever happened. That was the feline in him - best to ignore the moments that made him look less graceful. The ball was scooped up and chewed eagerly, and the boy paused in his work only to rub one of his budding horns against the corner of the sofa. Itchy.
Now that Jak was definitely awake and no longer trapped in his stony prison, Aimili's attention turned to him more fully. Bobby was resettled in her lap, letting out a quiet mewl of protest.
"I got the day off work,[/b]" She said idly, turning to look at the man, her tail thumping lightly against the chair. "I was thinking that maybe we could all go to the park for a little while?[/b]" It was phrased as a question partly out of instinct. She didn't want to get in trouble for suggesting something out of line, though she did understand by now that it wasn't likely to happen. For the kitten's part, she crawled back into her mother's lap, moving until she'd found a comfortable new position and then resettling. Always with the moving.

Ginger shivered a bit when her flaming eye was blown on. That felt so strange, but she didn't mind. It didn't hurt. Her tail tried to wag even more furiously and she nosed at Daddy's face, small tongue darting out to lick at him, to taste him and know that he was there. A few small whimpering noises escaped from her mouth as she did so, but that was just her begging attention. As she heard a very familiar, comforting voice, Her ears perked and swiveled, and the flaming eye turned in the air to look at Mommy.
She had, of course, no understanding what was just said, but she made an excited whining noise anyway. Her eyeless face turned towards her Mommy, too, though she remained snuggled closely up to Daddy's warmth. Was something going to happen? Was it food-time? Or maybe it was play-time, since her brother was playing with a ball. She tilted her head, a gesture that looked a bit odd on her, but then, most expressions did.

The sound of Mili's voice brought Jak's head craning around even further. He didn't want to move, not with the girls cuddled up against him on either side. It was just habit to move his head along with his vision. Giving it up for a lost cause, he flopped his head back down and simply rotated the eye to watch her.
"That sounds niiiiiice," he murmured into the floor, his tails wagging once in succession before settling again on the floor. He didn't want to make too much noise with them just yet. "Buuuut. Ummmm. We'll need to leave Sally home. Think she can stay by herseeelf? If we pile stuff up? Woogie's heeere for her. Tabby can help us, uh. Uh. Herd. Heeeerd the others. They might liiiike it. I like the park tooooo. We should."
With a short grunt, he stood and turned into a bipedal Highland canine. He preferred the form when he was out with the kids. It made them all look connected and made things easier. He scooped up Ginger and held her with careful practice, nuzzling at her tummy before setting her near her brother to wander in the direction of the kitchen. Had to... had to grab a few things to take with him if they were going somewhere. He yawned sleepily.
Tabby squirmed and whined when he moved, waking up groggy. She squinted around and blinked a few times, then sat up and looked at Mili in confusion. "Huh?" she managed to articulate before realizing where Jak had gone. She hopped to her feet, seven years old, and danced carefully around the wriggling babies before following her Mommy into the kitchen.
