He wasn't very soothed by Vir's assurances, using the new little gap between them to get a better look at her--especially after Mercutio's weird little fit. It wasn't just that she looked a little green around the gills in a wholly metaphorical sense; she looked a little green around the nose literally.
"Well...please tell me if you start feeling worse," he said. His face knit in a little frown of worry and confusion. As far as he knew, breathing without her mask didn't tax her too horrifically; had she caught something else? What had Mer seen that had freaked him out so badly? It seemed odd that he should bolt instead of...anything else, really. Maybe when they caught up he could get him to spill the beans.
And they were heading out the exit apparently, as Andrei seemed to have staunched his own bleeding. Getting out, as far as he was concerned, could only be a good thing (plant monsters; there were plant monsters everywhere apparently; chlorophyll had never seemed so terrifying). He gave Vir a faint smile. "I guess we're rolling. When this all blows over I'm cutting ties with every botanically-inclined Corvie I know."

A giant plant monster she could believe, and Senka glanced up at the destroyed ceiling to check for movement. She was morbidly curious to know where all the corpses had come from, but decided it probably wasn’t worth asking. It was better to focus on moving forward.
Senka experienced a pang of mild irritation when the woman spoke--the ‘Corvies’ would be more than happy to show them all where to shove it; Andrei was doing a fine job patching up his own stupid face--but knew it was pointless picking a fight (and potentially dangerous considering the woman was a queen, and a Heart). Mostly, it just wasn’t worth it; there was no talking to people who ordered rather than asked. But then, what else did one expect from Court royalty (and a Heart no less).
She trailed behind the group slowly, scanning the hall. It was a mixed group, certainly. Besides Andrei’s injury they were in fairly good shape, and while Zeki’s lady friend might be looking rather--green--Senka hoped it was more a reaction to falling however far with an escort of corpses, than anything more--serious.
Senka fluffed her wings in consternation, stepping around a corpse; she could not wait to be out of this mess.

Xiven's nose wrinkled at Andrei's remark, well if he was in good enough humor to make remarks why shouldn't she? "Heaven forbid I assume that someone from one of the most educated of realms know basic first aide. My mistake, I won't have faith in random strangers again."
She refrained from sighing as she watched Emeraude struggling not to giggle as they walked towards something that looked like an exit. At least someone was having fun, she supposed. Mercutio's voice rang out with worry stopping the woman in her tracks briefly. She caught her daughter's look and felt a little twinge of despair. She looked worse than usual.
"Then we need to find a doctor as soon as possible," she said, the anxiety evident in her voice. "If someone could carry her it would probably make the strain on her easier. Or at least support her when she walks... if you could do that Mercutio or... Zeki?"
Now they were going to take their leave of a potentially rigged house. "Emeraude stay close to Vir and Mer for me?" She muttered as she headed for the door at a reasonable pace that everyone could keep up with. Once the said door was open all she found was fog.
Uncomfortable awful fog that seemed more than a little out of place. It couldn't be natural. And they seemed to be somewhere in a shady part of the Bazaar. Oh suits, she had no idea where this was. "Any ideas?"
Emeraude was finding the situation mostly amusing. Xiven's bubbling displeasure wasn't something she was fond of dealing with, but everyone else was priceless. Ah, what a miserable group they were stuck with.
She silently watched in amusement, until Xiven muttered at her. She made a brief sound of protest--why should she have to babysit--until she noticed the dejected expression on the Queen's face. She really did care for her children... "All right, but the first sign of danger I'm protecting you, Xiven." She said as she went to deal with Vir and Mer, though she mostly intended to watch the back just in case something came out of nowhere. Not like she could do much to defend them.
Though even she had to admit that the poor girl looked awful.

Virtute's body seemed to be rebelling more than usual, her stomach roiling and pouching out slightly...how unpleasant. Though Andrei's face continued to pulse angrily with pain...he felt a slight tingling... Huh, hope that wasn't anything bad. Cursed Scar: Poor Andrei, so many things to happen in so little time. Once a week, the scar left by this cut will cause his eye to film over completely for a full hour, disallowing him to use the eye during that time.
Senka managed to spot an odd, crooked little table. On it lay a tiny, insignificant looking scarp of paper, tucked under a lamp. When pulled out, it read: Gus, gone to find her, she'll pay up soon. Tell Gloria to lay off, losing my customers. - M She also found a few coppers taped crudely to the back (8 unassigned p), odd.. The outside is as dank and gloomy as it first looked. The streets seem a little more...winding than anyone who has been there might remember, and the damp seems to cling to the skin. As they scan the area, they seem to be surrounded by old, dilapidated buildings, much like the one they were just in. Off to their right, Xiven hears the sound of something slithering... Without much further warning, what appear to be vines, as thick around as the Queen's torso, lash out at her, thick and covered in bark-like, rough substance, they completely engulf her right arm and pull hard!

Xiven did not like any of this. It was a stupid thing to think, but all she could do was mentally pout about things being off. Nothing should look like this in the city, nothing. And it wasn't like she knew any safe places to go around here.
The Queen was about to make another comment, but her train of thought was interrupted by a sound. Slithering. Looking to her right in confusion she was, quite suddenly, attacked by something that may have been part of a tree. It completely wrapped around her arm, in her initial terror she cast the first spell that popped into her head (17).
It admittedly it was a terrible spell to think of first. To make things better she didn't particularly have a good grip on her weapon (2), and the tugging combined with the surprise caused her to drop it. "Get it off!" she shrieked as she tried to keep her footing (20). Oh suits someone needed to help her so it didn't tear off her arm.
Her tail summoned appeared (20) and in a vain attempt she tried to hit the plant thing if her footing held or not(10).
Emeraude was silently hoping that they could just go home. The girl was sicker than usual, Xiven was in a fowl mood, and there was really no one or thing of any interest here. She silently eyed the Xiven's children, wishing that they would just disappear, when she heard the Queen's shriek.
So much for listening to the woman's orders. She bolted to the Queen's assistance (18). Her eyes widened briefly when she saw the plant monster and Xiven's fallen weapon. She made a dash for it (12). What exactly was going on in this cursed city to have horrible plant monsters attacking people? Not only were they in the house but on the streets--none of this was a good sign.
Small Ability: Once a week, she is now able to cause plants she walks on to wilt and shrivel for a full ten feet. Not very dangerous, but certainly intimidating.
(( OOC: So I realize that I never wrote that Xiven unsummoned her tail... I assume she did since no one mentioned it. And you know... diplomacy? ))

Zeki had already planned on helping Vir along if she needed it, but each time he glanced at her she seemed to look a fraction worse than she did the moment before. Her stomach was even looking a little swollen, so whatever was making her ill this time, it really must be doing something unpleasant in there. It really probably would be best if she didn't have to walk at all, and, well, being a centaur was proving exceptionally well for hauling people around. And she would be much more pleasant cargo than avian dead weight, not that he had really resented carrying the birdbat around.
"I sort of agree with your mom on this one," he said, a little apologetically. It probably wouldn't make her incredibly happy to surrender that little bit of mobile independence, but...better that than falling down a flight of stairs. "Hop on up, if you would be so kind," he said, leaning down so she could get on easily. "Much easier to carry you than Andrei I think."
A moment later he caught sound of some sort of commotion ahead, out where Xiven had gone--a sudden cry for help--and their escort took bolted off to assist. Oh damn, he thought, with a sinking feeling. What now?

Senka picked up the scrap of paper cautiously, all too vividly remembering the last time she had tampered with something on the premises--she justified her decision since at least this time around she wasn’t breaking into anything; it was just sitting there--and read the note with mild curiosity. Written evidence of Card-habitation, at the very least; though how long it had been sitting there on the crooked little table was anyone’s guess, and it certainly didn’t tell them who Gus, Gloria, or ‘M’ were, or if they were even involved in what was happening. There were several coins taped to the back, for whatever reason. Senka tucked away the scrap for later, and continued after the group.
Zeki’s little friend really wasn’t looking well, and Senka offered her assistance in getting the sickly thing onto his back; on her own, the girl was just slowing them down, and it was in everyone’s best interest for Zeki to carry her. It was handy he was so sturdy.
They didn’t have much time to get the poor girl settled before there was a crash of commotion outside the door, and Senka wearily peeked through the portal to assess the situation. Plants again, this time thick vines covered in scaly bark, were attacking the queen. Senka frowned when she saw the fallen weapon; wasn’t that the second time the woman had lost a grip on her weapon? It seemed more of a liability than anything. And then she noticed the tail--her lip curled in disgust; as an artistic soul, she was rather sensitive to ugly things, and that certainly wasn’t attractive. Or normal. Or anything.
She considered for a moment stepping in, but her abilities weren’t really designed for fighting plants and with the way those two were flailing around…best she didn’t get involved just yet.

The weak attempt at humor actually made him feel a little better, even though he started feeling sick. Oh suits, what if he lost his eye?! He couldn’t bear the thought, either from a practicality stand point or a vanity standpoint. (He was not rugged enough to be able to pull of the eye patch look in an aesthetically pleasing way!) No, no, no. He had to think past that. What did it matter how silly he would look, a fop (hey, at least he was being honest with himself!) with an eye patch, if he was dead? What mattered was the here and now...
It took him a little while to wrestle with his thoughts and come back to the present (10). He was vaguely aware of mention of Vir. He looked to his family. Oh, oh dear. No, she did not look well. He gave a weak smile back to Xiven, trying to ignore the pain in his eye past the spell to ignore moderate amounts of pain. Oh it was going to be just awful when the spell wore off!
Then the door. That fog... that just didn’t feel natural. He wasn’t terribly familiar with the more unsavory parts of the Capitol, but he felt it was a toss up between which their group could handle better: a plant monster or large groups of thugs. The sound of his name in conversation brought his attention around. His smile seemed to be getting a little stronger.
“It’s all muscle, I assure you,” he said, patting his stomach and giving a hair toss. A light hair toss as to not jostle his fluid-leaking eye around too much. Then, The Queen was attacked. After a bit of a delayed reaction (13), Andrei sprang into action. He leaped forward and wrapped his arms around the part of the branch not touching The Queen. After all, being part Bat, technically the entire length of his wings were his hands.
Small Ability 1 This SD can now cause small waves of heat to emanate directly from their hands. This heat is painful to the touch of others and lasts for a full 2 minutes once activated. He can use it twice per week and it only tires him out a little to concentrate on its upkeep.
