ID:SD326
Name: Will White-wing
Suit: Diamonds
Rank: Six
Animal: Bird (Kite)
Region: Highland
Dealer: Tongueofbird
Basic Magical Ability: He can act charismatic and persuasive at times, whether or not he actually has the natural charm and grace to pull it off.
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, he can decipher up to two languages of the player's choosing. These languages are in addition to the common tongue and the Diamond house language.
Small Ability: Once a month, he is able to cause the tips of his flight feathers to glow neon purple for a full five minutes. This spell is dimmer than his sisters and more eerie, though less useful as a light in the dark to see by.
Will is very intelligent and known for his impeccable grammar which he speaks in an aristocratic tone. When he was a child, he ran away from home and lived with an old gypsy crow for 3 years. He learned many skills such as fortunetelling and the appraisal of gold and jewels. He also gained an unfortunate case of kleptomania, specifically shiny things. When stressed or Extremely exited his language lapses into a harsh squawking language.
Diamonds: The Fang
As a rule, Diamonds are uncommon but not too difficult to come by. They are on the upper end of society due to their Suit, with practically no stigmas against them. Aside from a healthy dose of allotted arrogance.
A Diamond has respect in society naturally; even if their Card number is on the smaller end of the scale, the fact that it is a Diamond will lift it above the other "lower" cards. Being born as a Diamond is normally a celebrated event and the child will probably have an easier life as far as eligibility for employment and easier jobs are considered.
Basic Diamond abilities lend to them the incredibly charismatic flair of the businessman. Many Diamonds find their way into the entrepreneurial side of things and most will say that management and engineering of sorts are to their liking. Aside from simple charm, their insightful nature and a predisposition for learning has led to quite a number, and a reputation, of snobbish and highly intellectual Diamonds.
Though don't let this fool you, not all Diamonds are intelligent and resourceful...just as not all Clubs are dim and thick, you can easily have a dim Diamond.
The Diamond court boasts the largest library outside of Esterberry and many of its inhabitants (even the guards) and almost painfully knowledgeable when compared to members of the other Courts on the whole.
While incredible intelligence certainly isn't par for the course with the entire Suit, the reputation often leads parents to school their children more strictly and make more desperate attempts to keep up with expectations society might have for them, thus perpetuating the tendency for a Suit-wide high intellect.
The Diamond symbol, the Fang, refers to their cunning and sharp, biting turns of phrase.
Their uncanny intelligence and tendency toward snideness and power gives the Suit a reputation for being fangy. The fang is also normally represented a as serpent’s fang; due to their knack with charisma and bribery, they usually revel in their snake-like stereotype.
Basic Magical Ability: All Diamonds can act charismatic and persuasive at times, whether or not they actually have the natural charm and grace to pull it off.
Birds: Birds are a common enough breed, and seen fairly often across the Realms. They are a far cry from hard to find, yet slightly rarer than a Feline or Canine.
Though Marshlands tend not to be a breed-wide favorite, there is not currently a Realm where this breed does not exist or is not welcomed.
Birds can be anything from predatory to a common sparrow, the wide array of variations within them and their incredible difference from many other species gives them a flair for the exotic and makes for interesting mixes. Not quite as adaptable, Birds are much more difficult to find in colder and/or wetter climates. Though they can be found in any Realm does not mean it is easy to locate them there. Finding a member of this species on the Solandrian Glacier is nearly impossible and very few actually inhabit the Mid-Range, though a greater number have taken up in the Sorgaire, it is still less common to find one in the mountains or in the Golfam, than it is to locate one in the Villa or Yarrow.
Highlands: Residents are usually white with swirls of gold and red slash-like markings. Some can have either one marking or the other instead of both, but that is a rare happening.
Many consider the Highlands to be the most beautiful Realm in the world to date. Lush, rolling meadows, rich fields, thin stretches of forest, distant mountains, and quaint brooks make the Highlands one of the most respected and idolized Realms in which to work and trade. The residents of the Highlands tend to hold themselves in equally high regard and they are often respected, no matter the rank, if that is where they hail from. It is rumored that those from the Highlands are destined for greatness, and they are often groomed from birth to think so. The Highlands actually border the Courts and even overlap a bit into the Court of Hearts. Many have regarded the Hearts Court as the Highland Court for quite some time, though others have ruled there. Those of the Highlands rarely leave and will often sneer at the thought of breeding with anything other than another Highlander, though they have been known to deign to make love to Avingtons and Yarrows without too much fuss. Highlanders tend to despise those who hail from the Lowlands, as indeed many do, with nearly as much hatred as the Josggiy Marsh dwellers, despising the vague tie to them as “counterparts”. Also, according to the research of one Bernard, all Highlanders are allergic to sunflower oil to some degree.
Five-Seven: Fives, Sixes, and Sevens are the most commonly found members of society and are seen as the "middle class". Since there are so many of them, they are seen as the "norm" and feel that there is nothing wrong with their lot in life if they remain where they are. They tend to be pleased with life and can get mediocre jobs as higher-end servants in the Courts, living their lives comfortably in the average end of society. Higher-ups may still look down on them, but they can all feel justified in gossiping about that moronic snot at dinner or with the neighbors.
