Contest - Lovely Ladies [Judged]

Hello, fellow dealers! I'm sure you've noticed the large amounts of contests thrown out there lately, both admin-run and player-run. Isn't it nice? It should be, cause it's certainly a rare thing to have happen all in one go. Enjoy the spiff, I guess. ^_^ And don't anybody complain that we don't give you chances to acquire more characters because dammit, we're trying.

I'm very sad to say that our member Genesis will be leaving us sometime soon. Real life calls her away, what with having to move and care for a brand new litter of puppies and whatnot. Before she goes, she wants to make sure her two characters go to the best home they possibly can with another dealer, one who can play them along the lines she envisioned them.

If you know anything at all about these characters, you will know that they are drop-dead GORGEOUS. Honestly, they're probably two of my favorite SD out there. Those of you who know me well enough will understand why. *purrs at all the hair* If I were more selfish, I would have whisked them away the moment she mentioned this and petted them forever. That wouldn't really have been in their best interest as characters, though, and I certainly don't want to be responsible for any less involvement in the game on their part. Besides, I don't think I have the time to do them justice. They really are spectacular.

We've decided to set up a writing contest. Two ladies - two prompts. You can enter for one or both of them and have the chance to win one or both of them. There is not a restriction that you can only win one and not the other, though if two different people win them then they'll obviously have to coordinate things. Also, whoever wins them must be willing to continue some of Gen's RPs with Petzi's Aroha and the other child from their pairing. It's rather central to the character at this point. The others she's currently in are optional, but involvement with Aroha and Zephyr are not.

This contest will close one week from today on Saturday, October 20 at 11:00 AM board time. Any entries submitted to my inbox with a submit-time of 11:01 AM or later will not be counted as valid.

Narcissus Ma'aharet Corialoske, Five of Clubs
Note: Haret is a very complex emotional creature. Take that into account. You must be comfortable with a previously suicidal nature to write her. The girl tried to kill herself by jumping a few feet off of a low-hanging tree limb, for Pete's sake.

Prompt: Write about Haret's emotional transformation from her animal form to her bipedal form. She goes from suicidal over the form of her bindings to hopeful for her future thanks to the intervention of the Queen of Spades. This change occurred almost as soon as she received her bipedal form. I strongly recommend reading the threads she has participated in to get a handle on the character.

Mekare de Corioloske, Six of Clubs
Note: I love this girl. Absolutely, positively, no holds barred love her. She is so beautiful and has so much potential. Winning her means that you MUST work on growing her into the gorgeous creature she should be. Who knows, maybe I'll have someone someday who can merit a breeding with her.

Prompt: Write about her attachment to her batshit crazy sister, Zephyr, who is owned by Petzi. More information will be forthcoming on her sister's personality as soon as I get in touch with Petzi. Also, Gen has always seen Mekare as mute, so you must incorporate how and why she became mute and what happened to cause it.

So, here's a bit more information on the back-story between these two girls and Petzi's Aroha and Phyr. Haret and Aroha are currently mates living in the Villa en Miir, trying to make things work with their two children. Aroha is very much the top in their relationship.

Phyr is crazy, but only her sister seems to believe her when she talks about people that aren't really there. She trusts her twin and a lot of her fears are actually centered around Kare's condition. Phyr worries about her family and her nightmares involve them getting chased, pursued, kidnapped, violated, hurt, etc.

Kare is her sister's voice of reason in the world of chaos, and what brings Phyr back down to the real world to calm down. She helps her tell what's real and what's in her head. Phyr and Kare are best friends, and Kare is the only person that her sister trusts.

Kare can indeed speak, but only when she absolutely has to. She stopped speaking when she was very young. That reason is up to you to decide and write about. For bonus points, you may want to center it around watching her sister's traumas and how people treated her, and never wanting to be treated like that... so she just keeps her mouth shut. She's a thinker, an observer, and a tactician, much more mature than her years. She is grounded, but still weird and socially awkward like her sister.

Her stone will be gifted to her by her mother when she and her sister reach maturity. It has already been decided.

Heya peeps! This is just an update, as the contest closes in a bit less than 24hrs. So far there's one entry for Haret and two for Kare. Anyone else working on an entry?

One entry was received for Haret. Despite that, Gen wanted to make sure it appropriately portrayed her character thus far. Her comment: "Obviously you've done your homework. Congratulations." Your mention of the Torquehelm feeling indebted to Lysaras was exactly where she was going with that thread, and she would love to see her as a Jack at least within the court someday. Ideally, she would end up one of Lysaras's Kings.

Two entries were received for Mekare and apparently neither of them were quite able to capture the persona and story that Gen had going for her. I suggested that we move to 'extend' this contest, as people worked quite hard on their entries, and she agreed. She will be writing up a critique of the two entries shortly, after which point I will invite the two writers to edit their work with an extra week's deadline. If they feel up to the challenge, they should resubmit the pieces to me via PM and in another week I will send them along to Gen for her review.
