The little rabbit flopped on the ground and rolled around a bit while she listened to her brother. She hadn't forgotten about the game of tag, but it wasn't like they could play a good game of tag. They really were the only children in the warren, and it wasn't like any other warren was close enough that they could socialize.
The girl rolled over onto her fours, shaking all the bits of stuff that had managed to make it into her fur. "Okay. On the count of three we'll start the race. Stand next to me so we can at least pretend this is fair!"
She said in her matter of fact voice. Even if she didn't win the important part was having fun! Having fun was something she wouldn't get a chance to do when she was older. "One.... two.... three!" she jumped forward with a powerful leap. With all her strength she started running to their destination, her ears flapping around wildly.
At least she didn't trip this time.

Shelby tilted his head as he watched his sister roll around. That was rather funny, and didn't seem to be a dignified sort of thing to do at all! Weren't Does supposed to be...dignified? It did look fun though, and he might have joined her...except that she'd just agreed to the race!
"All right! Count away," Shelby said, fluffy tail wiggling as he hopped over right next to his sister. He tensed, grinning, ears back in a youthful imitation of a true runner's stance as she began the count...and at 'three', the little Leveret took off! Running for all his little legs were worth, ears streaming out behind him like a banner, eyes wide with excitement. THIS was living. This was just what he needed after a day cooped up indoors.
Shelby was certainly having fun, but part of him wondered if he should slow up just a little, so that Fleur could win for once. It would be the nice thing to do, after all. Compassion vied with brotherly competitiveness in the young Leveret's brain as he continued to run, the goal getting closer and closer...

Fleur was behind him by quite a bit. She watched as her brother shot by her, taking the lead to their goal. She did her best to speed up her pace, but she couldn't change the fact that she wasn't meant for running. She was supposed to be someone's pretty piece of property who did nothing all day. Exercise like this was something she'd never get a chance to have in the future.
So even if she lost, she'd try her best to enjoy this moment.
That was until she tripped over a twig at full speed. The little Doe went flying forward into a tumbling roll. Twisting in such a manner that she landed on her back, she found herself staring at the sky with the destination only a hop and a skip away.
"Owwww," she whimpered as she closed her eyes and curled her toes. That was one of her bigger spills. Oh no, what if she managed to get cut up? Everyone would be furious at her. She made a distressed sound as she rolled onto her fours.

Just when he'd decided he was going to let his sister win and be nice for once...one of Shelby's paws hit water and he jumped, tail flagging as he went into the air. The little Leveret blinked in surprise to see...he had already reached his destination. Way ahead of his sister, of course, as he could still hear her frantic hopping behind him. Oh. Well. He was torn between laughing about it and pulling on his ears in frustration, but before he could decide, he heard a snap, a thump-thump-thump, and a little moan.
"Fleur?" She must have fallen again. But it sounded like a bad one. Shelby turned and hopped back in the direction he'd come, slowing up right next to his sister and offering her a paw. "Hey...you all right? That one looked bad." He started to tilt his head to look her over and make sure she wasn't seriously hurt when he thought he caught a bit of red again the white of her fur and the brown of the dirt she'd just rolled in. Shelby's eyes widened and he backed up with a nervous hop. "Y-you're bleeding!" He'd never liked the sight of blood...it made his stomach do uncomfortable flips and the fur on the back of his neck stand up.

The little rabbit opened her eyes and squinted at her brother. So she was bleeding. Tears started to well up as she awkwardly wiggled to her feet. Ow, she really really hurt. What had she managed to do this time? The little rabbit tilted her head in search of the laceration that she had suffered. She spotted it on one of her back legs. Was that dirt in her wounds? Oh no! What if it got infected or something?
She sniffed and did her best to choke back all of the tears. "It huuuuurts," she said as she hobble hopped forward. Her entire back leg hurt. "I need to wash it off." She said after choking back a sob. If she wasn't brave then she would end up bothering the adults. And if she did that they were going to yell at her. And she really didn't want to be yelled at.

Shelby's breathing became a bit frantic, touching on the edge of hyperventilating, as his eyes were inevitably drawn to that red...it was as if it was all he could see, suddenly, and no matter how much he wanted to look away he just couldn't. Paws came up and grasped his ears, in worry this time instead of frustration, and he hopped nervously from one foot to the other.
"Well well well...down to the lake! It's not far!" The boy tried to swallow his nervousness for Fleur's fault; after all, she looked to be in quite a bit of pain and he knew pain was no fun, but he was beginning to feel a bit faint at the sight of the trail she was leaving on the ground.
"Are you sure we shouldn't get Mom? O-or one of the Leverets?" he asked nervously, panting a bit as he pulled on his ears, quivering near the water's edge. True, he'd hate to bother Mom and he knew she might get angry, but she always seemed to know what to do in situations like this, and Shelby just...didn't.

That was quite a bit of blood when she looked back. What had she managed to cut? It wasn't anything serious was it? How could it be? She had just tripped like she normally did. It wasn't like she managed to tear her ear or something like that. She stepped into the water, wincing when it hit her scratches.
Her eyes widened at the idea of getting Mom or some other authority figure. If they found out that she had been clumsy outside again they wouldn't let her play! They wouldn't let her get "in trouble" with her brother! They wouldn't let her do things anymore!
"No!" She said after a moment. "We can take care of this!" She said with tears in her eyes. "You have to learn how to do stuff like this, a-and I should to. To be good adults." She said with an emphatic nod. "Didn't one of the leverets teach you how to bandage things?"

Shelby cowered, just a bit, wincing at the loud denial coming from his sister's mouth. So young, she already sounded so authoritative...though the tears in her eyes and the note of desperation in her voice diminished the effect just slightly. He clutched his ears so tightly the ends began to throb in pain, stomach churning at the thought of having to bandage the wound himself. But Fleur was right; he had learned it, and he needed to be able to do it. No one was going to want a squeamish Leveret in their Warren.
"Y-yeah I can do it...just let me find some...leaves to use..." As much as he didn't want to, Shelby peeked to see how large the cut was...and had to swallow harshly to avoid being sick. Even without the bleeding and underwater, it looked nasty...though he forced himself to focus on his lessons about it. "Y-you can still move your leg fine, right?" Once that was established, he could work on the problem. At least the cut looked fairly shallow. It was probably only bleeding so much because she was moving. "Sit down on some c-clean grass after you're done washing it and don't m-move too much." Okay. Breathe. He could do this.

The little Doe nodded in reply to her brother's first question. She could move her leg just fine. It was just sore. She had hurt herself enough to know that it wasn't serious. At least, she didn't think it was. She waited a few more moments in the water to make sure that it was clean before stepping out.
She shook a bit of the water off before taking a seat on the cleanest spot of grass that she could find. Grass and clean didn't really go hand in hand, but as long as her back leg's scratch didn't touch it everything would be fine, right? Her nose wrinkled as she looked at the cut.
"I think... I think it should be okay," she said with as sniff. "I'll see one of the leverets later... just so I don't get you in trouble to." She curled her toes at the statement.

Shelby shook his head at her emphatically, still fighting the nausea that rose up in a wave every time he saw the gash. "Don't worry about me, Sis, really. I've been in trouble plenty of times." You're more important anyway, he thought, but didn't add aloud. It was a truth he tried to ignore, especially when they played together, but in the end...it was undeniable. He was just a Leveret. She was a Doe.
"I'll be right back," he said, and with that Shelby hopped off, following the water line to where he knew a plant with large leaves grew. When they got back inside they could bandage it properly with cloth, but for now, he didn't want it -bleeding- all over the place and...ugh! The little Rabbit shuddered and moved on. Finding the plant in question, he pulled off several leaves, grasping them carefully in his mouth at the stalk and trying not to wince at the awful taste. A moment later, he was returning to the spot he'd left Fleur, three large leaves slung over his back like a cloak.
