Dilis walked to the palace doors and knocked, this time she was a little more confident in herself. She laughed to herself remembering how nervous she was the first time but knowing the worst was behind her, she felt better. She was not coming to see Anoushka this time, instead she was on a mission. Last time she had been here, she was welcomed to the court but she had not received her key. She knew that once you joined the court, you were given a key to a room there but Anoushka was making her work for it. So here she was, searching out whomever could give it to her. She was greeted and let in; she walked down the hallway trying to get the attention of just anyone and failing at that. She really did not want to have to ask Anoushka, she was a snarky woman and probably would not be much help anyway. That is when she saw him. |

The meetings had finally finished and the Queen found himself with some extra time. He had debated about taking a nap but after lying down had discovered that such a feat would not be easily accomplished. And so here he was, wandering the halls of his own Court. Bored. He gave a nod of acknowledgement of his head to any of the other court members that he happened to pass by in the hall, though he did not stop from his stroll unless necessary. He wanted a moment away from having to deal with politeness and hidden meanings. He was in a grumpy mood. How the hell did women do it he wondered to himself. He was not even that far along and all the troubles were bound to end with him killing himself to end it all. Too bad he was against abortion cause that was sounding like a very sweet deal. Mumbling to himself he continued on his way, only to stumble across a familiar female. From the black J that was on her chest he figured that she was their newest Jack, freshly joining their ranks. It really was good to see that other Clubs were becoming active; it was something of a personal pride. Nodding his head at her he found himself actually stopping for a moment to talk to her. |

Dilis remembered the handsome red mouse from when she had her encounter with Minh and those... delightful children. They tried to give her a run for her money but she still enjoyed their company... even Hadyn. Who was he to them again? Their uncle? No matter, she walked over to him.
"Ader- Aderlass, correct? I am not sure you remember me but I am very glad to be running into you. I need to retrieve the key to my room here since Anoushka is toying with me and did not give me that after my Jack Quest.. perhaps you know where I might obtain one?"
She was talking quickly but she was nervous to be talking to someone who probably did not even remember her. Their meeting before was not much of meeting at all; she had been talking to him and Minh and himself in their kitchen but she supposed he was bored of the woman-talk because he shortly left them.

The issue of wither or not he remembered her was lost when he raised an eyebrow at the fact that she dropped all formality, addressing him personally by name. If she wanted to survive long in the Court she was going to have to be much more careful about how she talked to those ranked above her. This was not the Capital where one did not have a title; here in the Court one was expected to acknowledge another’s title and then use informalities if, and only if, permission was granted.
“I am afraid you do me a grave insult,” He replied to her, keeping his tone light, his hand briefly wondering up to touch his left chest where Q rested. He was not necessarily angry enough to cause her harm over her ‘ignorance’, however it was probably not wise for her to drop his title again.
“Anoushka does seem to like to toy with our newest members. Come we well settle this matter over the key.” He said before promptly leading the way.
As he walked ahead of her she would bound to see the acid scars that now marred the whole of his back, the base of his tail, left ear and horn. He was quite surprised she had not noticed it before, actually. It seemed to be something that people noticed first. He would have to think of a way to cover it when he gained his human form, that way the gruesome flesh could be more of a surprise.

“Insult? Oh I see... I am terribly sorry your Majesty I had not kept up with your status. And thank you for agreeing to show me.”
She followed closely to him as he led her down the hall. She had not realized he had moved up so quickly to Queen; last she saw of him he was a Jack like her.
Oh, I hope he is not too upset with me for my ignorance… She worried a bit too much, about everything really.
Coming out of her own thoughts she noticed the back of him. Acid scars were all over him; his back, his tail, his ear and his horn. Oh god… what happened to him? It must have been recent since he was not like that last I saw of him. Poor man, it must have been something awful. Well, she would not be rude enough to mention it to him now… she was sure he must get looks as it was. She would do her best not to upset him again.

He visible tensed at her words. How could she say something like that so casually to him? He could understand that she was new to the Court, a fresh Jack but for her to so causally announce that she had not kept up with the others of the Court and their rankings? The fact that she had missed on something so vital to the politics of the Court made things pretty clear to him.
Turning around on the spot he gave her no warning. “I can see now why Her Highness Anoushka did not give you your key yet. While you have passed your Quest to gain the title of Your Excellence you have yet to have gained the skills it takes to survive in this life style. If you had, you would have been wise enough to notice the ‘Q’ on my chest and to have found out that I was now the current Queen.”
His voice had turned deep his eyes narrowing on the females face. “For thus being unaware I am banning you from the grounds of this Court for three weeks. After three weeks are up you are welcome to return, however do not return unless you believe you are ready to remain aware of those who are higher than you.”
Waving over one of the guards who stood at his post, the Queen addressed him. “Take this female from the Court grounds. If you see her on the Court grounds between now and three weeks, kill her.”
With that he walked off.

Oh... oh dear, she had messed up... again. Father had warned her not to make friends in the court and she had not listened it would seem. She had at some point developed a spout of touretts and spoken out of turn to Queen Aderlass... that certainly was not like her. She chalked it up to the pressure she felt at home but even that was no excuse for behaving in such a way.
She really had not kept up with the Courts as of late because things had been so... awkward with Father that she had a hard time even thinking straight. She was only here for the key because he pushed her to take initiative to do it.
And now, because of her being a novice she now had to go home and tell Father Queen Aderlass had banned her for almost a month. A guard came over to escort her out and she walked the walk of shame out of the Court.
time jump to three weeks later
Things had not gone well at home and Father had basically chewed her out and told her she would be going back when she was permitted to and she would be getting a key there. What it came down to was he said either go there and be humble and not upset anyone or she could pack her bags and not speak to her Father anymore. She had decided that eating humble pie was better than being disowned so here she was at the doors, waiting for someone to let her in.
The door opened and she was let in, she looked around and this time there was no one to assist her. She wanted to seek Queen Aderlass out again but honestly, she was afraid to. He had gotten so upset with her that she was concerned about saying the wrong thing to him. However, Father made an appointment via King An to speak with the Queen.
She wandered the hall being sent from Attendant to Attendant inquiring about the key, making sure to mention the appointment until finally someone figured out what she was talking to and led her where she needed to be.

Her Highness Anoushka had informed him about his last appointment before she had excused herself to see to another matter that needed tending too, leaving him to await the Jack.
He was interested to see what the Jack had learned in her absence from the Court. He was really hoping something had stuck from the experience and that more disciplinary actions would not have to be taken. Either way he could not let the female get away with such an oversight as she had admitted to, that amount of naivety could end her up dead if she was not careful.
He fiddled with the metal key that that had a red ribbon hanging from the handle. This was what the female had been after the last time he had spoken to her and he absently wondered if she would be better earning of it this time.
Hearing the soft knock on the door he gave the command, “Come in,” as he placed the key on the desk before him. This would prove to be an interesting meeting.

She heard Queen Aderlass’ voice inside from inside the room before her, calling for her to enter so she slowly turned the knob and entered the room. Queen Aderlass was there sitting behind a desk holding something… what was it? Oh my, it is a key! Perhaps it is the key I was looking for. Now, I really hope I do not mess things up. If all goes well, I can obtain it and prove that I am not a screw-up.
“Your Majesty, thank you for agreeing to see me again. I do not want to drudge things up but I just wanted to say; I really am terribly sorry about before, however I learn from my mistakes and I can promise that it will not happen again. I really do hope you accept my apology however” She bowed her head to him at this and waited for his response, she hoped however that it would at least be a favorable one.

When the Avington entered his office he gave her a nod of his head in acknowledgement. “Have a seat.” He said, motioning towards the simple chair that was placed before his desk.
He took a moment to survey the female before him. She had done much better in her addressing him, which was a hopeful sign. It was a moment before he said his next words, "It is nice to see you back, gracing our halls." There was a pause before he asked, “And wot is it that you learned while away from our Court?” He was interested to hear just what she had learned from her barmen from the Court.
He had done it because she had offended him in the way she had addressed him and then in the way she had handled the situation. However, he had not done it out of complete offense but rather in hopes of better preparing her for what would lie ahead should she stay in the Court. Thus, it would be a shame if she had learned nothing from it.
