As soon as the mouse turned around to lead him elsewhere, Pascha rose an eyebrow at his comment. Chatty? Certainly, because talking was always a bright thing to do to a man with needles and various syringes.
Just the thought of needles brought on a set of chills and he was forced to pause and regroup himself before he carefully followed Aderlass out into the hallway automatically. Orders weren't something he gave any thought to--he obeyed, and likely would do the same in this situation unless he felt he was in danger or that it was simply obscure.
Aderlass led him to the bathing room but Pascha merely stared at him, then stared at the bathing room, then stared blankly at the wall. Did he expect him to actually go take a bath, or was this a tour? Pascha again remained completely silent though he was very tempted to repeatedly check his watch just to see if the mouse would notice.

He proceeded to show the owl where everything he would need was located. After all the explaining was done he turned towards the door. “I will leave you here to take care of bath while I go make us some food. Yell if you need anything.” With that he left to head downstairs.
As he entered the kitchen he wondered what it was that he should make. The owl had said he wanted cheese earlier and he was in the mood for oatmeal. Deciding that that sounded good he started to make the food, placing a slice of cheese on the side for the owl, keeping an ear out the whole time in case the bird was in need of any assistance.
This was a . . . interesting situation that he had gotten himself and the bird in. He figured he would have to learn a little more about the bird, if the owl could even say more then five words, before he decided what to do with him. The mouse was not one to just turn someone out on the street, even if he was not really prepared to take care of another person. With the food almost done he decided he would wait a few more minutes before going to check on the owl.

Pascha stood within the bathroom stoicly until Aderlass left, and then had to stop himself from jumping around like a child at what he had been left with. A bathtub! Hot water! Soap! It was like christmas he was so happy, but at the same time he was terrified that it was some sort of cruel joke and would be taken away if not used quickly enough. He ran the water and dove into it (as best as possible given the size of the tub), uncaring about the water that splashed out of the tub and onto the floor. The owl hadn't exactly been trained in cleanliness, so barely acknowledged to himself that perhaps making a mess wasn't the best idea.
He scrubbed at his feathers, beak and talons until all were free from the grime and filth that was his life. He drained the water and immediately enveloped himself in a big fluffy towel that had been on the counter, then went and sat in a corner with it clucking happily under his breath, his small frame nearly invisible under the towel, as both were white. Pascha could smell food, but was too content within his towel to truly notice or care about it.

When the mouse had reached the bathing room door he gave two soft knocks before he pushed the door open some.
Leaning against the door frame he searched around for the avian and it took him a full minute to realize that the owl sat in one of the corners, from what it appeared, happily engulfed in a towel. Giving a smile and small chuckle, truly amused, it was defiantly a sight to behold. From appearances alone, the owl almost seemed like a flip change of the owl that had walked in the shop a few hours before.
It really was impressive how a bath could do a person good. “If you are hungry there is food downstairs. I made us oatmeal and there is some cheese for you. You can even bring the towel should you wish.” He said sweeping an arm to the hallway outside. He really could not pull the bird away from what seemed to be a simple pleasure.

Pascha didn't hear the knocks so was immediately on guard when Aderlass entered, though he relaxed once he recognized him. His various changes in expression were barely visible from his placement underneath the towel, and he shifted as he rose so it still partially covered his face. The owl enjoyed towels for some reason and had no intention of putting this very nice one down, regardless of the fact that Aderlass had told him he could keep it.
The owl followed him down the stairs to the kitchen and and absently sat in the first chair he saw, not paying attention to that particular aspect of his surroundings. He was utterly amused that he'd been given cheese--why cheese? Oatmeal was simple enough but cheese hardly went with it. Did something about him scream "I like cheese!"? Maybe it had something to do with the piece of icky cheese he'd found lodged under his wing earlier.. After a minute of idly regarding the food he took a piece of cheese and ate it, and found it to be quite good.

He followed the owl out of the bathing room to the small kitchen area downstairs. The creature really was a cute little thing, in that innocent way kids could be.
Walking over to the kitchen counter while the owl made himself comfy at the table he poured himself a cup of coffee and then a glass of water for the other male. Bringing both to the table, setting the water before the owl, he settled in his own seat across from him.
He did not bother to tell the owl to eat up since the owl had already made short work of the cheese. As he ate his own oatmeal he observed the owl with quick glances up, though if the owl was aware or not of his being observed in such a manner the mouse did not know.
The owl really did seem different then when he had first walked in and for some reason he felt that it did not completely have to do with the owl now being free from his previous owner.

Pascha ate his fill and immediately curled into a ball under his towel. Warm fluffy things were a luxury to him, as was the bed that he'd been on upstairs, and the fact that he was continually being allowed to have use of them confused him. It was getting to the point where his suspicions were starting to conflict, and he was going to have to.. sigh.. ask. "What.. exactly.." He started and trailed off as his voice cracked. The owl cleared his throat and resumed after a moment, "Is my situation here?"
It couldn't hurt to ask, could it? The worst that could come of it was it would be a negative answer and he'd find himself in a bad situation.. but if that was the case he was already there and was screwed over to begin with.
As if expecting to hear something sadistic he turned his head so onl part of his face was visible, with the rest comfortably against the towel.

“Your situation?” He asked, confused for a moment by the boy’s question.
Well it really had not been unexpected, per say, just a little random. He pondered over his answer, debating what and how to tell the owl. If he had guessed anything about the lad’s previous position in life this change could easily scare the lad. He continued to think over his own stance with the lad, would he let the lad stay here or was he going to push him out into the City?
The owl looked around the age of his own children, late teens early twenties; surely he could take care of himself. For some reason, however, the mouse found himself doubting that truth.
“Well . . . honestly, the situation is that I paid a week’s worth of pay to take you ‘off the hands’ of your previous owner. If you chose to work this payment off or not is up to you. Either way you are pretty much free to do what you want. You are welcome to stay here.” He motioned to the rooms upstairs with one hand, “I also have personal lodgings that has a spare bedroom should you prefer a quieter place to stay for a while, or you can leave whenever you like, should you desire that.”
He wanted to make sure the owl was aware that he had options now and control over his life.

Pascha didn't confirm his statement but merely serenely watched him out of his one visible eye. He was taken aback that the mouse had to think about it, and was even more surprised at his response.
Was this a joke?
Some cruel, cruel joke? Yet--it couldn't be. It would be a horrible joke simply because it would have nothing behind it to make it funny to him nor horrible for Pascha.. so by the owl's logic, he must be telling the truth.
"I am... free." He stated quietly, yet questioningly, as if he were afraid that were he to speak the word too many times, it would become nonexistant and take all of his chances of a true life away with it.
Abruptly he remembered Aderlass's first words, that he had been paid for, but did not need to work it off? Pascha had no intention of going anywhere, at least not yet. Where would he go? He knew no one, barely knew where he was, and was obviously in no condition to move more than a few feet at a time. To leave would be to die or to end up killing someone and die anyways, so his only option was to stay wherever the mouse thought it best for him to stay. "I will.. stay.. if that is okay.. with you." He paused, and had to take a deep breath. Talking was difficult for him, after so little use of his voice and his present weakness. "I will work it off.. if you.. wish.. but I will be.. a bad worker.."
