Pascha woke abruptly, as he always did. It wasn't safe to take his time and adjust slowly, because he never knew what was going on around him. It wasn't unsual to find a needle in his arm (or elsewhere, if he'd been struggling) or to awaken to steel bars surrounding him, because it varied depending on his uncle's mood. Today, however, was different. The first thing he noticed was that he was not in his uncle's lab, or even his home, and that was enough to make him thoroughly confused. Uncle never permitted him to leave, and that was probably for the best--Pascha certainly didn't want to end up harming some poor townsfolk on accident. He'd hated the lab, but where else was there for him to go, even if he could escape? It would seem as though he had not escaped but had been dumped; were he to have escaped his surroundings would not have been so clean or nice, nor in a city--what he could see from the bed was of mild street traffic and a lot of buildings. He should be in a filthy alley, not a nice bed.. that he was dirtying up with his own filth, sadly. Pascha slowly got up, but was experiencing no ill effects. His watch was ticking normally and that relieved him more than anything else. The owl was weak but able to stand, so he did so, and moved over to the window. Where the hell was he?

It had been a few hours since the owl had fainted and been brought upstairs, his previous provider long gone. Placing the paper he had been looking over back on his desk he figured it was about time that he went to check on his newest obligation. If the owl was still out he was going to call Elyse soon, it just did not seem that someone should be out this long. Making his way upstairs he kept an ear out for any movement. Coming to the doorway he saw that the owl was indeed up and walking about, something that he was definitely happy to see. While the owl had his back to him staring out the window, the mouse leaned against the doorway. “Well hello there. Good to see you awake again” He said in a soft voice, his face straight, as to not completely frighten the bird.

Pascha was indeed startled, but instead of turning around like a normal person would.. he turned his head. He was an owl, afterall. He didn't turn as far as his neck was capable of by far, but merely enough to assertain who was there.. and perhaps creep them out a bit, in revenge for startling him.
He vaguely recognized the mouse before him but couldn't place why; they couldn't have met, considering he'd been locked in essentially a dungeon for far too many years. Though, he couldn't remember how he'd gotten here, so maybe this red mouse had something do to with it?
Pascha slowly adjusted his body to match his head, and then fully turned to face the King before him. Clubs--they matched, which was interesting. He merely nodded in return to the greeting, as he didn't trust his voice just yet, and watched somewhat warily.

He jumped a little when the owl turned his head without his body following. Well that was a dandy trick. He was grateful to the bird when he turned the rest of his body to follow his head.
Observing the bird, he took in the owl’s rank of a Ten and his suit of Club. That was definitely something interesting. The mouse defiantly had an affinity for anyone who was of the same suit, not to say others were less. He also took in the filth, which was something they could and would need to change.
“We were not really able to introduce ourselves earlier. The name is Aderlass,” He gave a small nod, touching one hand to the tip of his hat. “And yourself?” he asked trying to get the avian to introduce himself.
This was definitely a unique situation and something that he had never thought he would get himself into.

Earlier? Well that settled that; they must have met at some point. In fact, it would make a lot of sense that he was in this man's home.. since he had simply walked in. The owl was somewhat unnerved that he couldn't remember what happened, but it had become such a daily occurance in his life that he simply pushed it to the back of his thoughts and concentrated on the present.
As his name was requested, he paused. He generally hadn't been called by his name.. if Uncle wanted him, he usually just kicked at him and grunted, and Pascha knew to get up. After a moment of pause, though, he complied, "Pascha." He had a very slight accent that came through on his name, but it was difficult to detect.
It was then that Pascha realised that Ader was, indeed, wearing a hat and gloves, and what interesting articles they were indeed. Why would a mouse wear gloves? Interesting, indeed. But instead of inquiring on the gloves, he asked about something else, "Where am I?" His voice nearly cracked but was kept under control, though it was raspy nonetheless.

He made a mental note of the owl’s accent though he could not really place where it was from. He also noted the slightly raspy quality to the owl’s voice. It would seem to him that maybe the owl had not spoken aloud in a while.
“It is nice to meet you Pascha.” He returned. “As to where you are; you are in the Capital as well as being above stairs of my gallery-shop. A crow who claimed to be your Master brought you here. He left with no intent of returning soon after you fainted.” He continued giving the owl a bit of recap on the events that had happened.
He was hoping that his explanation would not cause the owl to freak out. He was not exactly sure what the owl and crow’s relationship had been but he was pretty sure he was correct in guessing that it had not been all that pleasant.

The owl nodded once more in response, unsure what to say. Was it nice to meet him? He didn't know yet, since he still had no idea why he was here. Perhaps he was taking the phrase too literally, but what did one say to that?
Capital, master, fainting.
That summed it up rather nicely. He was correct in the assumption of a city, then--the capital was interesting, as it didn't strike Pascha as somewhere Uncle would be willing to go. Master? No, Uncle was not his Master--Uncle was his Owner, by all conventional terms. His Uncle told him what to do, but more than that it was not a choice to obey or disobey; it was obey or die, and that defined it as ownership in Pascha's mind.
It would appear as though he had been sold, however. What kind of man was this Aderlass, that he would buy another person? Immediately suspicious now that the idea had graced his thoughts, Pascha seemed to sink into himself somewhat, though he moved very minutely. "I.. see." Was his only response, though it was not by any means disheartened; if anything it had more of a strategical note to it. This man was not his Uncle, and this was no lab he was being kept in. If he was correct in his thinking, that he had been sold, he would find a way out of here. The window, for example, had not been locked.
Easy.

Oblivious to the avian’s train of thought he gave the owl a friendly smile.
“From your appearance it would seem that you are in the need of some grooming. I can have a bath drawn for you if you would like. Or there is food downstairs, though we could bring that up if you would prefer to eat up here.” His offer was only friendly and made with the intent of help the owl feel more at home.
He was not planning on mentioning the fact he had paid a week’s wage for the owl, and he only intended to tell him that if the owl asked about why the crow had left him behind. The only reason he had paid that horrible creature of a crow any money for this person was to get him away from him. If anything the owl could probably think of himself as an indentured servant, though the mouse could promise the owl would not have to do much of anything to gain freedom from that title.

Pascha was visibly taken aback at his offer. A bath, and food? What was this, buttering him up for something completely horrible?
As beaten as his spirit was from his many years of confinement and insanity, the owl still could not completely force himself to believe that this man truly wished to harm him. The mouse was presenting himself in a very friendly manner and the owl was sensing no undertones of hate or maliciousness.. perhaps he was good at hiding it, but perhaps not.
Thoroughly confused, Pascha merely stared at him stoicly. It was too good to be true, it really was. His chances of having escaped without actually having to escape via the window seemed so remote, so slim, that he hadn't allowed himself to think about it--that there was, perhaps, a chance that his uncle had chosen the wrong 'buyer'. It could safely be assumed that Uncle had meant to sell him to someone that would keep him in captivity for the rest of his life.. but Pascha truly could not tell if he had succeeded or not.

He quietly took in the owl’s taken aback appearance and then the stoic look he was given at his questions. Apparently his feeling about the lad’s previous ‘owner’ had been more correct then he would probably want to know. Seeing that the avian was not going to respond to his question or comment he decided to take matters into his own hands.
“Well, you are a chatty one are you not? How about we go with both then. Come” He said in a soft yet slighting commanding tone, giving a nod of his head he turned, motioning for the owl to follow him, he led the way to the bathing room that was located on the second story.
As he walked, not really aware if the owl was actually following him or not, he talked in hopes of helping the owl feel comfortable. “Over here is the bathing room.”
