He gave a firm nod of his head. “You are truly free.” He gave a friendly smile.
Finishing up his own meal he pushed the plate towards the middle of the table. Hearing the lad’s decisions he gave the male a measuring look. It did seem that there was not much work he could do at the present moment. “How about we make a deal? You are free regardless, but whenever you feel like you are ready to payoff the small amount spent to save you, you can do so when and how you please?” The deal was in no way made with the sense of tying the owl to him but rather he would prefer the owl to find a worthwhile way to repay his ‘debt’ should he chouse to.
“You are more then welcome to live with me. I live in a small apartment not far from here. I kept debating if I wanted a room mate or not, but you are more then welcome to the second bedroom. I will only be there part of the time,” he added. “Business at the Court often drives me away from the Capital.”
He figured this arrangement could be a as you go type, if the owl was serious about stay he would see how well they worked out and lay his ground rules and adjustments out later on.

Pascha listened carefully to the man's words, doing his best to read what was between the lines, if anything. He wasn't sensing a catch, if there is one, but it all seemed too good to be true..
.. but even if it was, it was too late for the mouse to spring it on him. "Thank you, I will do so. Do you have any suitable occupations for me to start working my debt off for once I am in better health?" If Pascha was going to be staying with him he might as well be working for him as well--he wasn't going to find work on his own, that was for sure. The Tulgey owl was likely to be an oddity in the first place.. and he wasn't going to be the best worker, for reasons that were best left unspoken until later.
"I.. would appreciate that, yes. Living on my own would not be.. a good idea." He almost trailed off, as he was not certain how to explain why it would not be a good idea--but if the mouse chose to ask now, it would probably be best to explain before it happened and simply became inexplicable.

He listened to the birds answers, quite happy with them. He was a little interested to know why it was that the lad should not live on his own but he figured that was probably digging into something personal. As long as they could get along he would allow the male his secrets until he spoke of them. He had secrets of his own.
“Any suitable occupations? The only occupation I could really offer you would be one here in this shop-gallery, though I do not know if that would interest you.” He was silent for a moment, a few thoughts running through his mind of what he could offer the owl in occupations. He had the small and odd jobs here but for some reason none of them really seemed like the owl.
Eyeing the owl a thought came to mind. “Actually . . . I am in need of a Page of sorts. When at the Court I often find myself busy so I would need someone to help me out with small things, such as delivering things, taking care of small details, helps to clean up and take care of me.” He gave a small shrug. “It would not be too demanding but it is something that I am in great need of and it would help me out a lot.”

Pascha listened carefully to Aderlass's words, but the idea of working around people didn't appeal to him in the slightest. No doubt working with customers was only inviting bad things to happen--what would happen if he went into a spell in the midst of a sale? Not that he could make a sale in the first place; he had impaired people skills. The page option, however, interested him greatly. It offered privacy and the chance to reacquaint himself with reality without scarring too many others in the process.
"I.. would like the page position.. if possible.." The owl had no idea why he might be considered remotely suitable to work in someone's home, but it offered him far more protection than working in a shop did, or sitting in Aderlass's house and doing nothing all day. Pascha wanted protection, until he found something better to do with his life.

Nodding he gave the owl a smile.
“That sounds like a plan then. I think you should do well with the job so there should be no problems.” He grabbed up their finished plates and brought them over to the kitchen sink.
While he was glad to now have a ‘Page’ of sorts to help him out he was not sure what to do now that he had one. For now it seemed that all would work out well.
He still wondered a little at the, seemingly, vast change in character from when the owl had first come in compared to how he was acting now. Maybe it had been an act? If the owl played ‘stupid’ then his Master was unlikely to want him more, his fainting would be explained as well. Not that he was thinking the owl was a liar, just was finding a way to explain the change.
“I think I am about done here for the day,” he said, turning back to face the owl. His other employees would be able to handle the end of the day closing by themselves. “We can leave soon and get you settled down in my apartment.”
