Despite the small voice in the back of his head telling him to be polite and not stare, Javaid couldn't entirely help himself. He was curious about the young wolf and his awkward-looking ornament. The coughing fits, however, continuously drew his worried gaze from the boy's spine to his involuntarily tearing eyes.
He'd have to medicate him a bit after the bath, see if he couldn't ease that cough a little.
"Of course." The jackal perched lightly on the edge of the tub so that he could more easily assist the canine in the tub. Once he'd found the soap and a wash rag he quietly set to work, careful to avoid the boy's spine all the while. It must've been horribly awkward for him, to have to work around it all the time.
For all that Javaid was unusually awkward around Conway, he was able to wash the boy with efficiency without overstepping any boundaries he assumed might be in place. It was habit, however, that kept Javaid rather quiet as he washed Conway rather than the subtle case of nerves that seemed to be plaguing him.

This was an interesting "bonding" experience to say the least. Conway couldn't complain though, since well, he was still horribly sore and sick. This experience as a whole was terribly awkward. Once all the washing was said and done, Conway shook a bit of the remaining water off before stepping out of the tub, quickly shifting to quadruped before he fell flat on his face.
He was clean. It was a nice feeling despite his sore muscles and his persistent cough. He hopped on to the bed and flopped down rather unceremoniously. His body decided that enough was enough. With a muted sigh he shifted back to his human form.
At this point Conway just wanted to get better and stop being miserable. He still didn't have an appetite to save his life, which meant it would probably be a while before he actually did recover. Stupid being sick thing. He muttered into his pillow as he looked at Javaid out of the corner of his eye.
"Thank you."
There. He said it.

Once Javaid and Conway were back to the bedroom and Conway was settled back into the bed, Javaid settled onto the edge of the bed quietly and studied his sickly charge. Poor boy, he was so cute and yet he seemed so...miserable. Not just because of his illness either, but something more and...wait?! Had he just called Conway cute? He inwardly choked on his thoughts and then brushed them very firmly aside.
It wouldn't do him any good to think like that.
"You're very welcome, Conway. I'm happy to help." That was the pure and honest truth. "Is there anything I can get you?"
His throat must still be awfully raw after all that coughing, right? Was it even worth it trying to force feed him? No. Not entirely. He'd wait a bit longer and surely his appetite would kick in sooner or later and, if it got too bad, he'd just give up and force feed him. For now, he settled with checking his temperature and those other small habits he'd found for making Conway comfortable, he even tucked some of the pillows a bit closer.

Conway looked at him in silence for a while. Debating on what to say to that. "Can I have some water?" He asked quietly. This hospitality thing just was weird. He had shown up on the man's doorstep half dead, and he was still terribly ungrateful, and he could exactly express how grateful he actually was.
So he turned over and stared at the wall, half curled up, and waiting. He didn't want to say anything else. His throat hurt even if he felt a bit better because of the bath. At least his fever was down a bit. Maybe he would get better faster than he thought? Conway had completely lost track of time. What day was it anyway?
He coughed a bit. It was a little more manageable, sort of. He gave a frustrated growl as he buried himself in the covers. When was this going to be over with?

"Water? Yes, of course."
He nodded quietly and rose up from the edge of the bed, pouring Conway a glass of water. Without the taste of the tea to cover up the bitterness of Javaid's remedies, there was no way he could spike the boy's drink with any additives but the water would be soothing and hydrating if nothing else.
Returning to the bed, he held the water in one hand and lightly touched Conway's shoulder to let him know he'd gotten the water. Instead of immediately moving to help Conway into a better position for drinking, he waited to see if the younger Hisstor had gained enough strength back to do it own his own now.
"Your fever appears to be going down. Is the pain mostly in your throat now?" He was quietly trying to gauge where to focus his medicating without outwardly announcing it as that. No one liked to take medicine after all, but Javaid wasn't about to do something foolish and make him sicker by grossly misjudging medications.

Conway shifted to look at the man after he was tapped on the shoulder. He managed to bring himself to a proper sitting position. Even though his hands were shaking, he was able to take the glass of water and drink. He slowly took it away from his mouth as he nodded to Javaid's question.
His throat did hurt. It felt like someone had shoved something covered with spikes down his throat. Conway gave a slight whimper as he lifted the glass back up to his lips to drink. This being sick thing was miserable. He didn't want to be sick anymore. Even though he was getting better it was still a painful process.
When he was finished with the water he handed the empty glass to Javaid. He didn't want to talk right now, even though he wanted to ask questions. Did this man really live alone? How did he know how to take care of a sick person so well? So much more... but his throat felt like it was going to bleed.

Javaid watched quietly as Conway drank, making sure he wasn't needed and also studying the boy's improvement. It wasn't much, but definitely better than when the boy had first come into Javaid's care.
Quietly he accepted the glass back once Conway was done drinking and set it on the tray before tilting his attention back to the younger Hisstor. Curiosity was still lurking in the back of his mind, pestering him with questions although he himself was not comfortable with speaking on such a ...conversational level. Regardless, there were better things to do with his time right now than pester strangers will silly questions.
"You seem rather awake at the moment, would you want some medication to ease your throat at the moment? ...It might make you drowsy but it'd help." The jackal shifted, moving so that his back was against the headrest and he could maneuver between Conway and the tray of 'home remedies' without getting up and down.

They were both socially awkward weren't they? Conway shifted uncomfortably at the question. Of course he didn't want to take medicine. He hated medicine, who didn't? However... he needed something for his throat didn't he? The young man whimpered and gave Javaid a rather defeated look.
"Medicine might be a good idea," said quietly. It hurt to talk, maybe he should just keep quiet until Javaid was done with making or acquiring the medicine. Carefully Conway flopped on the pillow so he could watch the man move. He just wished this sick thing never actually happened. Sure he had met a... nice person but he didn't like being miserable in this place. He still wasn't quite sure about staying here. However... he was in his home region, so it wasn't all that bad. At least people wouldn't ostracize him for being different.

Javaid smiled weakly at Conway, the expression understanding. The boy really was quite cute... Again he cut off the thought, forcing his mind back to proper place. He couldn't be thinking things like that, it was just...not right of him.
"Alright." He nodded and shifted, moving to pour a glass of the tea while Conway flopped back down again.
It took a moment to stir the medicine into the tea once more but Javaid was getting better at this 'home-maker'/doctor thing. Caring for the living wasn't really his forte but he was growing to find he didn't at all hate it either. "Try that... It should dull the pain, but its hopefully not enough to put you out like usual." He murmured softly and smiled warmly, more at ease with the male now that he'd finally figured out his region. Pathetic as it was, it was a comfort of 'home' nonetheless.
