"Good, good. He won't feel anything, but we will need to work quickly."
He handed her two scalpels, one incredibly small, the other a bit longer and thicker. Nodding to her, he reached over and gingerly pried open the Eagle's left eyelid.
"Ok, I'm going to sew his eyelid in this position, give me a few seconds, then I'll do the same to the other, we'll need them held open for the procedure and we can simply cut the knot and pull them out when we're done."
It took him a few seconds of deft movement, and the Eagle's glassy eyes were staring unseeingly at the ceiling above them.
The heron suddenly turned, coughing violently so that his entire upper body shook with the explosions. Keeping his head away from the mix breed, Temmin hacked for a good minute, wiping his hand along his leg so that the blood would be hidden among the black feathers.
"Sorry about that. Just a little cough, nothing contagious. Let's get started. I'll pull out the first one and help you get the new eye in, then you can do the second and I'll help install the other new one."
Without any further ado, the Heron picked up his scalpel and pushed it through the Highlanders' right eye.
There was a soft popping noise as the eye shot out a light amount of fluid, Temmin digging his scalpel further in behind the eye and deftly pulling it out. The ruined eye hung from a thin mass of delicate cords about two inches out of the socket, blood oozing slowly from the tear ducts.
"Watch closely, we'll need to cut and leave a lot of the cord and do it in a circle motion, like this. That way we have extra nerve to tie off so that his eye isn't sunken in."
He hacked off the ruined eye and handed it to her to dispose of and pulled the new, clear eye out of the ice box.

She watched careful as he pulled back her friend’s eyelids and proceeded to sew them back in order to keep the eyes opened. She found it a little creepy that her friend lay there, asleep with his eyes staring at the ceiling like that. She did not think he was ever going to ask, but just in case she would never tell him how the procedure had been done. Something told her the bird would not bare the information well.
When the Heron was caught up in a coughing fit she gave him a concerned look. “Are you okay?” she asked, a cough like that did not sound like something that was good for a person. At his words she shook off her concern. He was more of a healer than she was, so he was bound to know what he was talking about, right?
As he then proceeded to stab her friends eye with the scalpel, she gave a small start and an “Eep!” before settling down to watch his every move with a critical eye. Now that one of his eyes rested in ruin she was going to have to make sure he made it through the surgery with new eyes and sight as a result.
After he had pulled the eye out and had cut the cords, she took it gently into her hands. Poking at it for a bit she was distracted by the eye itself. The fact that it had been sitting in her friend’s skull for about the last nineteen years was not present in her mind. She noted the liquid and blood, making a mental notes of all else that seemed to compromise the eye. When she poked it with one of her scalpels she noted the crunch sound as it hit something hard.
Bringing her attention back to Temmin she gave a small blush over the fact he had probably caught her distracted. Seeing an empty box under Eilwyn’s chair, she quickly desposed of the old eye in there before turning back to watch as he pulled out one of the new eyes.

Temmin had seen that she was slightly distracted, but it only heartened him. She was interested! Good, all the more reason for him to assume that she would do just fine in this endeavor to assist her friend.
"Now pay special attention here. See how the extra nerve will have to be knotted in here with the new eye? I'll need you to put on that protective glove there please. Ok now if you could please pull that last scalpel out from the fire for me, we're going to melt the nerves together very carefully. Then we'll use a little stitching and I'll show you how to stick it back in."
She was doing well. A very intelligent girl, this one. She had steady movements, despite her lack of hands...he could only see her getting better once she possessed a Biped form.
Pulling on another thick glove, he took the heated scalpel from her and began to press it to the nerves.
The Eagle's body jolted.
Damn, they would have to work faster.
"It's ok, we just need to go quickly he'll still be out for at least twenty minutes. Now, see how we roll the eye back in? Never press on it, let it fall back into the socket. Perfect!"
Handing her the needle and thread, he showed her how to reattach the eye to the tear ducts. He watched her work diligently. Smiling.
His insides felt like they were boiling, he was starting to sweat. He felt another cough boiling up.
"Excuse me for one second, I'll be right back. Pop the other eye out like I showed you, I'll be back in time to help you attach the next one."
He stood and rushed down the rickety stairs to the basement of the building. Collapsing on the floor he began to hack and cough. Blood beginning to foam at the corners of his beak.
Damn, damn, damn!
After cleaning himself up, he would head back up to see if all was still well.

She looked closely to where he motioned, noting the extra nerve that needed to be tied. At his comment she quickly went over to where he had all of their supplies laid out, grabbing up the protective glove he had acknowledged. Slipping it on she went to grab the remaining scalpel. Bringing it to him she listed to his instructions of how they were going to melt the nerves together.
When he pressed it to the Eagle’s nerves, causing the bird to jerk, she jumped a little in surprise. That reaction was definitely something that she had not been expecting. Looking at him for an explanation, she was afraid they might have hurt her friend, she calmed a little under his explanation. Giving a nod of her head in acknowledgement she then shifted her feet before turning her attention to what he was doing next.
She watched carefully as the Heron slowly maneuvered the eye back into the eye socket, taking his note about not pushing it in to heart. When he handed her the needle and thread she watched careful as to how to reattach the eye. As she worked she would check with him every now and then to make sure that she was doing it correctly. Seeing his smile she figured she had pleased him with her work and so she flashed him a smile back.
When he excused himself she sent him a concerned look before starting on the task that he had given her. After a moment’s hesitation she braced herself to stab the eye like he had shown him, her face going into a grimace when she did not do it as cleanly as he had. She used the other scalpel to gently pry the eye out of the socket to reach the nerves.
She had just finished severing the nerves like he had shown her, the eye now clutched in her hand for disposal. She had been careful to leave enough so they could attach the new eye, when he reentered the room.

Temmin re-entered to find the girl doing rather well, he gave her a watery smile, unable to hide the pain as well as he had been before, he wasn't going to make it... "You're doing very well. Not much more to do, I-"His stomach roiled and he could feel his lungs contract without his willing them to. The end of his sentence exploded into a cough and he fell to the floor, long neck quaking as he choked. He tried to tuck his body in tighter, to make it so that she couldn't see...but the convulsions were too much and he was soon hacking a bloody pink foam onto the floor. "Oh god I'm- Huurgh uuuh... I'm so sorry, miss, please. I'm so sorry, I- Kuuch! Arrgh!"He turned his head from her and vomited, blood and bile pouring from his beak onto the floor. Oh god... Oh, god...He had to leave now! No more words! "You'll d-do it, I know, I m-must go, I..."He gasped oddly, his throat constricting as he flopped over to the window and threw himself from it, large wings opening and barely carrying him. Still drizzling gore he flew off toward home...hoping he would live... ((OOC: Whee...the internship from hell XD I'll watch her try to fix things up, she has just a few more minutes before the Eagle wakes up though...hope you can manage before he does Best of luck <3))

She looked up giving a smile at his comment when the avian re-entered the room. The smile did not last long though as the Heron soon collapsed to the floor. Eyes wide she watched as pulled himself into a small form and the sound him puking reached her ears.
As she was about to run to his side to see if he need help he pulled himself off the floor and with the parting words of ‘You'll d-do it, I know, I m-must go, I...’ he left via the window.
She stood there for a moment in shock before the eye that she held in her hand brought her attention back to the real task before her. She could seek the Heron out afterwards; she just hoped it was nothing serious.
Turning around she grabbed the new eye. She could do this, she chanted to herself. Temmin said she could and all she had left was to connect the eye.
And then suddenly there was a dilemma.
. . . She did not have enough hands.
This was definitely going to cause a problem.
There was no way that she could hold the new eye, the nerves, and the knife in order to be able to complete the procedure. Holding the eye with her left hand and the knife in her right she looked longingly at the nerves.
And then suddenly they moved.
She was startled by the fact that it felt like she was holding them. How could that be? She only had two hands and there was nothing appearing to support the nerves . . .
Giving a little shiver she took a deep breath. Do not look a gift horse in the mouth, right? Setting forward she was determined to get the eye connected. She was not sure how much longer it would be for Eilwyn to be unconscious and she definitely did not want to have him wake up in any of this.
She was prepared this time when Eilwyn’s body gave a jolt as she carefully melted the nerves together, being careful to not over do it. She did not want damage to occur, that would only defeat the purpose. After she was done she barely noted the fact that the nerves were no longer pulled tight but hung loose, as if the hand had let go.
Placing the knife back down on the table she made quick work of slowly sliding the eyeball into its new home. As she did this she had the passing thought that it would be quicker if the needle and thread where already in her hands, and just as soon as she thought that the same feeling came back and glancing at her should she saw the needle and thread there. Supported by what appeared to be nothing.
Still a little startled by the occurrence, she knew for sure it was not Asher; he would have given some sign away when coming in, she took it into one of her real hands. She began to sew the eye into place by the tear ducts and after finishing grabbed the knife back up to gently and careful cut away the stitches holding his eyes open.

Eilwyn, thankfully, woke up after the operation was completed. He was also acutely aware of how much pain he was in before he realized that he could actually see what was in front of him. For a long while he simply stared, trying to blink away the pain, or something. He wasn't quite sure.
"Elyse?" he asked as he sat up curiously. He was... seeing her. For the first time... ever. He assumed it was Elyse anyway. He didn't think it could be anyone else. "Uh...." he looked at her. He wasn't sure what to say. Ow came to mind, but that wouldn't exactly fit the situation would it now? No. He said it out loud though as he sat up and put his hands over his eyes. It certainly felt like they popped out his eyes and gave him new ones. Wasn't he supposed to get some sort of medicine? Where was that other doctor?
And he really could see! HE COULD SEE!
He wanted to cry but it hurt too much.

She was cleaning off all the supplies, especially the knives, when she heard her name called by a familiar voice. Turning around she spotted that Wyn had awaken.
Worried and overjoyed she rushed over to his side. “Wyn, yes Wyn, it is me.” she gave a happy bounce truly overjoyed to see that it did not appear he had taken it for the worse. When he looked around she took it as a good sign that he was seeing things, considering how intently he was gazing at things.
“Did it work Wyn? Can you see?” she asked. When he placed his hands over his eyes she became worried. “Oh dear, they must hurt huh? You went through a lot. You sit here and I will get you some pain medication alright?” Hurrying back to the table that had been set up for the operation she quickly gathered the herbs that she had long ago learnt from Mnem to be ones that lessen pain.
Coming back to his side she handed him two small pills. “Here take these, they will help the pain.” As she watched him take the meds she could not help buy do a small dance. “Wyn you can see now! It worked! I am so happy for you!” Without much thought she gave him a quick hug. “Whenever you are ready we can leave, okay? For now you just rest a little, let the meds kick in, okay?”

That was a lot for him to digest in such a short amount of time. She had never been this talkative before had she? That or he was just still a little willy-nilly from the pain. He gladly took the medication as he sat completely up, properly flexing his wings.
"Yes I... I can see," he said after a while. He was still in complete and utter shock over this absolutely amazing development. The eagle was happy to get a hug from Elyse, and he really couldn't manage to express his amazement at the moment. Instead he decided to hug her in return.
"Thank you, thank you so much," he said quietly, doing his best not to cry. It hurt at the moment, even if the painkillers were starting to take the pain away. He pulled away with a smile on his beak, "I think we can leave whenever you're ready. I want to tell--and show--everyone the good news."
