Xiven was very determined today. She was planning to actually have Fluffy be fluffy. It was a novel concept, that her mother wasn't particularly fond of. Well, Mom didn't know that she was here, so it didn't really matter much did it? The feline carefully guided the Ace into the dusty store. It was... very run down in Xiven's opinion. She raised an eyebrow at all the things that on the counter top. Maybe she should have listened to her mother and stayed out of this part of the Bazaar. "Fluffy, sit." Xiven said quietly to the feline Ace. Hopefully Fluffy wasn't as sketched out about this place as she was. Where the hell was the owner anyway? Shouldn't he be out front or something? She looked back at the door debating if she should leave or not. That would be admitting that her mother was right and she was wrong. Her ears flicked back. Fine, she would stay here and brave it all out. "Hello?" She called, "Is anyone there?"

Fluffy trotted in behind her owner, on a leash as was proper in public places like the Capital, ears up and alert and interested. This was a new place. She'd never been taken here before. It was dirtier than a lot of the places they went and there were all sorts of interesting smells and sights and sounds. Next door, she got the distinct impression that there was food being made. Food with meat in it. Unconsciously, she licked her lips. When the bell above the door rang at their entrance and Xiven turned to her, she sat obediently and looked around. She wasn't in the least worried because she was out with her owner, on her leash, and was behaving very well. What was there for her to worry about? She hadn't been moving too fast and now that she was getting a bit older, she was more comfortable with her own limbs and better able to gauge her speed and avoid tripping. Her chin thanked her for it often. She wasn't entirely sure why they were in this place, but she had the vaguest inkling that it had to do with her. When Xiven and her Mommy Peaches had talked earlier, she heard her name thrown about once or twice. She was getting better at interpreting the speech now, even if she didn't like to use it because it wasn't good for a pet to talk. Her owner had said so and she took it to heart. Short, one or two word responses were the only things she ever liked to give, and even then she preferred doing so only within the palace and when they were alone or among people she knew very well. She didn't want to be any trouble for her owner, ever.

He could hear people in his shoppe, the small chime of the bell had alerted him...black ears flicking back toward his door. But that was all that moved...he knew he would have to go out there, he knew that he would have to go and tend to the customer... He sighed, shoulders hunching and his expression hardening...now he could hear voices in his shoppe...damn them. Gently placing a yellowed photograph in a frame back in his desk drawer, he stood and moved heavily to his personal door, swinging it open and trudging out to meet with whoever wanted to give him money...and they had better not just be asking for directions this time... Looking around at Biped head height at first, he was startled to find himself dropping his gaze and seeing two...children. One was black and purple...Torquey the other...looked like a Highland mix...on a leash?... Closer srutiny revealed the "A" on the mix's chest and he shook off the surprise. Just an Ace. "Good afternoon...wha' kin I do for you today?"

"Good Afternoon, Mr. Todd," Xiven said with a bright smile. Her tail swished as she spoke. No point in lingering, she just needed to get in and get out. As interesting as this man seemed to be... well the place was dirty and didn't sit well with her.
"I need you to make my pet fluffy. I heard that you can do things like that," Xiven smiled up at him as best she could. Bipeds were so very tall it made her want her biped form more than anything. "All I need is the price."
Which she would pay regardless. She wanted Fluffy to be very much fluffy. It just seemed like the right thing to do if that was her name, right? Maybe it would make up for her lack of a tail too. She always looked so... well... naked without a tail. A bit of extra fur might be able to make the illusion a little less noticeable.

Still sitting obediently near her owner, Fluffy heard introductions being made, and they were polite ones so that gave her an even better impression of where they were. Not only was it different, if smelly, but Xiven was being polite to the man. And saying her name again. Her ears flicked up even further to listen to what they were saying.
The thing that stuck in her head most was 'make my pet fluffy'. Make her what? She was already made... and why was Xiven asking about price? Didn't that mean money? He was paying the man to... make her?
Now terribly confused, the feline leaned her head forward, stretching out her neck to sniff curiously at the wolf. She couldn't really tell what he smelled like in particular. A lot of things all mixed together. Unconsciously, her mouth opened very slightly as she sniffed to give her better access to the smells. How very strange he was. So long as her owner was happy and polite and smiling and her pretty tail was swishing, her mood would stay just as good. Even if she really didn't understand in the slightest what this man was going to make her.

Mr. Todd nodded to the Torquey, eyes finally catching sight of the "Q" on her chest and killing any last vestiges of snark he had built up...he would have to use them later on Mrs. Lovett if she became unbearable.
Queens were good though, and this one was no exception. Rich, pampered, well-mannered, and to the point, for a kid she was quite pleasant.
"S'no problem at all. Wha's your pet's name? Oh, that'll be 30p, then you kin get her in the chair, it'll only take about a half hour, tops."
He reached down and let the Ace sniff at his fingers as well before rubbing his knuckles gently against the top of the Ace's head.
"Pretty fing, isn't she? Huh, well, let's get started then."

All right, this was going to be a lot quicker than she expected. And her Fluffy got complimented. She smiled, "All right, that's simple enough." She pulled out the proper amount of money from the bag on her waist and offered it to the man after he was finished petting Fluffy.
He pet her. That was actually kind of overly cute for someone who looked like they could chop a person to bits. "Her name is... Fluffy, but that was my mother's doing. She has a wonderful sense of humor. Either way, Fluffy thanks you for the compliment."
With that said she ushered the Ace over to the chair and told her, "Up." Fluffy had enough balance for that, she was pretty sure. Fluffy had come a long way since she was younger and tripped almost every other step. She also got better at the sitting still thing. Otherwise this would take longer, she was sure.

The wolf's fingers smelled like shaving cream and other things she just couldn't place. Fluffy closed her eyes happily at the knuckle-pet and gave a brief little half-purr of appreciation. "Meerrrrr..." She loved being pet by nice people and Xiven seemed comfortable enough around him that maybe he counted as one. Her owner was paying him for something, at any rate, and she reluctantly pulled her head back when he had to take the money.
It was good of her mistress to thank him for her, since she couldn't very well do that kind of thing in public. It just wasn't right.
And then she was being nosed towards the chair and eyed it with a moment's hesitation before hopping up. She could do that now. Thankfully, it wasn't unusually high off the ground and she managed it without ramming her nose into the back or anything embarrassing. She settled her rump in the leather, looking down at her owner and then up at the tall biped man. Canines were always so tall, but no one was taller than Mr. Gaston! He was just enormous. Everybody else, no matter who they were, looked small in comparison to him.

The Wolf actually smiled a bit, the edges of his mouth turning upward as the small Queen encouraged her "Fluffy" into the chair. Proper Queen she was, maybe she'd get her shot in the Courts some day...what with all the recent hassle going on, it'd be nice to see someone that possessed feelings in power.
Prompt about payment too, no quips...good, good. He was actually feeling much better now, as he moved over to the table full of implements, pulling two tiny blue jars to himself along with a jug of mostly clear water.
"Awright, fank you, miss. Now, if you can just keep 'er calm, she's goign to get a little wet when I apply these two mixtures. Tell me where exactly you want the extra fur and I'll start getting her ready for it."
He let out a soft chuckle at the way the Ace sat attentively in the chair and made a soft meer noise...he hadn't seen such a proper Ace in a long time, usually just the mentally challenged ones or the few who were left to die on the street. This was nice...so sweet somehow.
As he moved to gather the pots, he felt his tail wag slightly. Charming girls...how he wondered if she would have been like that...his Johanna...more than likely.
"Awright, Fluffy. Let's get on wif it, shall we?"
He asked the Ace, softly and jokingly, smiling at the young Queen and rubbing the top of the Ace's head again. Hopefully that would reassure the little pet that she was in no danger...and really, she was soft...and cute.

"Fluffy, stay," Xiven instructed with a happy tone to her voice so her feline companion wouldn't be so terrified. The stay command never really sat well with her. At least Mr. Todd was nice about this, and really quite polite.
Though he was probably going to hate her for what she was about to say. "I want her fluffy all over, like a long haired cat. In particular I want the tips of her ears to be fluffy too. Like a bob cat... if that makes any sense?" She hoped it did. She didn't want to risk sounding silly in front of a business man.
She tilted her head curiously at the jars and water. How did someone make hair grow to a longer length? He must have been very talented to do something like that. It made her wonder about why he was in such a run down place if she was so talented.
But that was just a horribly rude thing to ask, she could keep that to herself. She watched Fluffy, and really hoped she wouldn't fidget.
