Heilyn was dragged from her thoughts back into reality by the voices. A more formal meeting? with... me...? Heilyn wondered why, suspicion rising a little. She was getting ready to excuse herself when she was addressed directly. Her ear twitched.
Hmm, gee, let's see. I'm nearly 8 months pregnant, the only person I've come to truly care about in this Court is severely injured physically and probably emotionally, I have to redo everything with the Ambassador work I've done with Serafino with the new Queen. Yeah, I'm really fucking fantastic.
"I'm as well as one could be in this situation," she almost murmured. She stopped herself from rubbing her eye and yawning. "Was the meeting you wished of me urgent, or can it wait another day?" She was making an attempt to excuse herself without being rude. She sometimes had a difficult time with that.

Severus listened to his sister, nodding from time to time. Nodding when she mentioned their meeting, nodding when she mentioned that she had been for a while. "I'm sorry I had not known you were in the courts, or I might have looked you up sooner." he said in a rather formal way, wondering in the back of his mind if this statement was really true. Like Bernard had said, he was far more of a Hermit then a Noble. The chances that he would go out of his way to find his sister who he barely had a relationship with? Well, he supposed it would have depended on his mood.
"I think it has been very chaotic for all of us. Unfortunately, none of us seem to have any security in our placement here, save The Queen himself. Or at least I know this to be true for the Kings of this court. But I can only imagine it is similar for the Jacks."
He crossed his arms a bit, though not in a chastizing way that most people normally associated with the gesture. It seemed almost natural that his arms would be placed like that instead of at his sides. It pronounced his severity, it seemed to make him somehow more noble. He was silent then, listening to the interaction between the two girls.

"Not urgent at all. More of a personal interest, really. I had been told you were interesting, and I wanted to see for myself." For all that her voice as still as cold as ice and her demeanor was rigid, Mephitisia seemed to be mastering this 'socializing' bit. Or, perhaps, her mind was just too distracted to contain her thoughts properly.
Probably the latter.
When Severus spoke, Mephitisia tilted her gaze back and arched a brow in thought. How could Mephitisia express her true concern with the situation at hand?
She was not worried about where she would end up. What would happen, would happen and honestly she was truly only concerned for Pravus at the moment. Her own situation, and the situation of the Kings, would be taken care of. Bernard was possibly the only other person she was truly worried about. Everyone else would still be in condition to return when more Queens arrived in the Court of Hearts. Some Kings were even likely to advance to Queen thanks to this sudden upheaval.
No, she wasn't concerned.
"It's not myself that I am entirely concerned for. It's caused an unpleasant upheaval, but everything will settle eventually." Mephit decided it best not to mention her worry for Pravus or Bernard even, no use spiling her emotions to these two that she knew so vaguely. Her own brother even, but family had never meant much to her. "I imagine though, security is much harder to reassure in your case."
It was hard to judge the emotion laden within he voice. It laid somewhere between blunt fact and near mock but was most likely neither. It was most likely meant to border on reassuring. Ah well. All her concern was directed elsewhere at the moment.

From the way the two interacted, as if there was a chasm between them emotionally, she would've never guessed they were related. All she knew was they'd happened to know each other when they were younger. She gave a 'hmph' of a laugh.
" 'Interesting' is one way to put it," she responded. She listened to Severus. Her thoughts were along the same line as Mephitisia's in that the only person she was actually concerned about was Bernard. She would be concerned about herself, but she doubted she was going to be replaced. Everyone else could just go screw themselves for all she cared.
"I suppose all we can do is wait. Approaching the new Queen seems right out as I'm sure he's busy enough as it is, and bothering him now to try to endear yourself to him will most certainly do the opposite," she murmured out loud, looking at the ceiling, seeming to speak to it rather than the two Cards in the hallway with her. She would tolerate this conversation just a little longer before excusing herself.

Severus noded a bit at Mephit's words, feeling a little bit better. The truth was, while he and his sister really weren't that close, he did feel a sence of duty to check up on any within the courts, or would anyway. Finding out his sister had and without his knowledge just seemed a little weird. It seemed only right that he would go visit her. But if she didn't really much care, then he supposed he didn't either. So knowing that she didn't really mind seemed comforting in that way.
Then Heilyn said something, regaurding himself, and he couldn't help but look at her for a moment. Was that suppose to be an insult? He thought it was. He snorted minorly before turning his attention back to his sister. Whatever, like the coyote had never insulted him before.
He noded at his sister. There was the truth that Severus was concerned about himself. He didn't believe one could not worry about themselves in this situation even slightly if they had lived over half their lives in the palace. He didn't believe that people who really wanted to stay in the courts could not worry about themselves even a little bit. But he could agree, unknowingly with both of them, that he was greatly worried for Bernard. The man had lived so long here that it was almost a crime to cast him out. Especially after everything... No, he personally wouldn't allow the man to be cast out, if he could stay and had any say in it. He would hire him for something or other.
He agreeded with both of them. "I find myself worrying for select others as well. But one way or another, I plan to make sure they will be alright in whatever situation they find themselves in. But I suppose this is not strange to either of you two and those you care about. And I would agree, everything is extremely high stress right now. While I feel the need to seek Queen Rai out, I know it is probably best not to do anything until some time is allowed to pass."

Mephitisia's thoughts kept wandering back to Pravus. Her brother was here and now he knew she was here and he could look her up later if he desired. For the time being, however, she felt as if she'd responded accordingly to his recognition and it was now time to leave. She didn't want to leave the distraught feline alone for too long.
Stepping back toward the hall that Severus had come from, Mephit dipped her head to both Severus and Heilyn.
"I imagine Queen Rai will seek you out when things are ready to be decided. It'd be best to reserve making any assumptions until then, I assume." With that said she bowed slightly and took another step back, making her intent to depart more clear. "I, however, must be on my way now. I'm afraid you caught me while I was on my way to tend to other matters."
Pravus.
She wasn't about to let on to her brother that she cared for someone like that. It sickened her still to know that he meant so much to her and she refused to let anyone else see it.
"Good day, Severus. Heilyn. I hope to meet up with you two at another date." With that said she turned lightly and moved away down the hall.

Her eyes turned toward the man as he looked at her. He did not look happy. Had she... said something to offend him? Any and all social abilities had gone nearly completely out the window within the past few months, so maybe she'd said something without realizing it. She sighed. There was yet another thing to apologize for that she really didn't want to. She nodded at Mephitisia as she left.
"Maybe we will," she responded neutrally, not wanting to reveal that she really didn't care to meet up with the Doe ever again. She waited until Mephit was out of earshot when she turned back to Severus.
"My apologies, have I done something to offend you... again?" Maybe she'll give some half-assed excuse about being hormonal, tired, and preggers. Female hormones were the ultimate weapons against men. It kept them submissive and un-argumentative not only in bed, but out of fear as well. Let's see how far that'll take her with this one.

His sister seemed strangely antsy, and he wondered what was occupying her mind. When she slowly shifted her position to the Hall in which Severus had just come from, he guessed why. Though honestly...he wasn't sure if that...Pravus was going to let her inside or not, he certainly hadn't wanted him around. But what did he really know, he didn't even know that his sister was part of the courts. Ah well. "Sorry to have disturbed you. Indeed, perhaps another day." he said without much conviction. The truth was they would probably run into eachother in the halls, but he highly doubted that they would request an audience with one another. They just weren't close enough.
He finally turned to Heilyn, after watching his sister go down the hall a couple paces. Was she appologizing again? How unusual, at least for Severus. "It was nothing of any consequence." he said, again in his own special way of taking appologies. After all, if she was appologizing maybe she hadn't really ment to insult him at all, and since he himself had not been quite sure of the intentions behind the comment, he supposed he was being to hasty to judge. Of course, he would never admit this.

Heilyn raised an eyebrow at his response. He certainly had an... odd way of accepting an apology.
"If... you're sure..." she was unsure how to response it that. Not at all. She gave a sigh as she looked back up the stairs. Honestly, what was she thinking? Well, I think this calls for Quadrupedal form... she thought and shifted. the bulge in her belly was not as prominent in this form as it was in others, but still quite there. She was about to start for them when she remembered she didn't even acknowledge Severus good bye. She stopped and turned to him. You know, he really wasn't that bad. His politeness reminded him a bit of Bernard, except without the hyper-talkativeness. No, he meant her no harm. Anyone who regarded Bernard as closely as a father figure deserved some kindness at least. She gave a dip of her head.
"I'm terribly sorry, but I must to bed now. It was... nice meeting you, Your... Highness?" It was entirely possible his rank was King, but he still held the title of 'Excellence', she didn't want to be presumptuous.
