His ear flicked uncomfortibly, unsure of what to say anymore. She had been ready to leave before his sister had arrived, ready to bolt it almost seemed like. Now it seemed as if she was a little more reluctant. His serpent-like tail swished with a small sound along the ground. He watched her mental thought process as she looked up the stairs clutching her very pregnant stomach. She was probably due within the next month or so it seemed, though certainly Severus was no expert. He watched as she took on a more mobile form then the bipedal form she had. It made him feel slightly uncomfortible, he hadn't seen an animal form in quite some time, most walked around the palace with their newest and best forms, but he understood why.
He dipped his head a little in return. For a moment he looked at the stairs before replying. She seemed nice enough, readily happy to appologize for things, and she was seemingly good friends with Bernard...good enough friends to want to protect him from ominous figures, which was...pretty good. Severus realized he needed friends like that. Bernard had told him that he needed more allies...friends...something...and he knew this to be true. His lip twitched a bit. "Do you....need...help?" he asked...feeling like an awkward lanky teenager, and doing his best to contain a scowl which would have been directed at himself, but might have been misinterpreted. He ment of course if she needed help getting to her room. He wondered if she would take that wrongly and nearly shivered with the implications. What unbecoming behavior!
For a moment he didnt say anything, then just waved a hand in a little as he said, "Your Highness, yes...but...eh....You can just call me Severus." he doubted she would be able to appreciate the gesture...but it was his attempt at being friendly. His title ment a great deal to him, by casting it away it was almost like denying what he was. But then again...he figured that if he got kicked out of the palace...no one would be calling him that anyway.

Her head swiveled back around to look at him. Was he... serious...?
"Uh... yeah... sure..." she sounded a little confused. Why he wanted to offer assistance to her, but she didn't want to be rude to the King. He was alright. Not her preferred company, but it was acceptable for now. She only had to tolerate him for a flight of stairs and half a hallway. That wasn't too unbearable.
"That would be... nice... Severus... You may call me simply 'Heilyn', if you so choose." she waited for him to catch up with her before slowly starting up the stairs. After they were about a third of the way up she spoke up again, feeling a wave of her odd hormones messing with her mind.
"I'm just curious, you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but what did you do under the Queen?" she kept a strong outward impression, however. Should he be the type to fly off the handle in a situation like this, she wanted to not appear timid and easy to terrify. She had too much to lose at the moment. She doubted he would do anything so rash to her, especially here, but one could never be too careful. On top of that, when had she ever really come off as timid?

When she gave her reply, he quickly asended the stairs up, hooves clacking against the marble floors and slowly echoing out into the abandoned halls. He simply looked at her once he reached her. He didn't need to explain why he offered to help. Why should anyone ever have to explain a friendly gesture? Nobody else had to. Though he didn't take it personally...it was a bit of a first for him to, even though there was a valid reason why he cared if she made it up the stairs without injuring herself. He didn't feel the need to explain so he didn't.
When she offered her name in exchange he raised an eyebrow, though he wasn't exactly looking at her when he did it. It was really directed at himself. Did this mean they were on first name basis? That was good right? Damn the social complexities of everything. Whatever, he wasn't going to worry about it at the present. His mind was wandering to his lab, and to Bernard's office...where he could find some reading material waiting for him like Bernard had said. "Heilyn it is then." he said simply, turning his head to watch as she went up the stairs.
Then the question came, and he took a long moment of silence before he spoke up. He supposed he should let someone around here know what he did all day. "I've done a great deal, in my lifetime here. I say lifetime only because I've been here for more then half of mine. At ten years of age, I had made an appointment to be seen about taking up a position as Jack. Bernard was my tester as a matter of fact, though I believe he is the tester for most people seeking to be a Jack in the palace. At first I didn't do very much, being to young to do...court duties the way any adult would. Then when I did finally start working it was mostly paper work and the like. Later I was allowed to do chemistry, and helped Bernard with odd jobs in that area and took notes and studied." He was beginning to feel like the answer was getting long winded, and he had to wonder why he was telling her as much as he was. In the end, he decided just to tell her in a quick manner what he did as King for Queen Serafino. "I was working almost constantly on a true cure for Serafino's constant headaches. I wasn't King to him very long...and alot of good any of my findings have done in the end.", yes there was disappointment there clearly, and shame. He had not done as he promised to his Queen, in a way he didn't feel like he deserved the title at all. He had failed. He had failed Bernard to...but he didn't even want to get started on that.

Heilyn's ear twitched. Why did I offer my name without my title? God, I'm tired... Well, what was done is done.
She listened to him as he spoke, moving at a much faster pace in her quadrupedal form than her bipedal could offer, her being in this condition. Not the preferred form of the court, she knew, but screw them. She was pregnant. She had enough to worry about than the comfort of others she didn't even care about. Besides, it's not like most of them liked her that much anyway.
"You've... been here that long?" It was amazing, really. When she was 10, she was making sure every moment possible of her magic teacher's life was miserable, if she wasn't finding new and spectacular ways of injuring herself, let alone helping out in any constructive way around the Bog Court. No wonder he is so familiar with Bernard. "Perhaps not a total waste. Though His Majesty Shinrai may have no use for what you found out for His Majesty Serafino, your loyalty to the Court for so long and the fact that you could find out anything could be of interest to him."
Usually she didn't offer comfort to people she didn't know, but Severus was starting to interest her a little more. However, it was obvious he would not start any conversation, so she would have to pry.

He shook off the shame that was beginning to engulf him and watched the Coyote get up the stairs with ease. Severus knew himself to well. If he allowed the shame to wallow around for a while, it would stay...and it would not leave. The last thing he needed to be in a time like this was a blob of regret. The thought nearly discusted him. But self loathing wouldn't help either. For the time being, he tried to keep his mind on his studies, and his eyes on Heilyn to make sure she didn't trip or stumble. If she was at all worried about Severus' veiw of her using her animal form, he seemed to think along the same lines as her. If it helped her get up the stairs in her condition, then to hell with everyone else. Severus certainly prefered his bipedal form, but it was not as if he was beyond using his animal one if he needed to.
He meerly noded when she asked if it was true that he had been in the palace that long. "I very much doubt Shinrai will need any of my findings. My only hope is that my loyalty and past services will be enough. Bernard had said he was going to meet with His Majesty soon, and had promised to put in a good word for me." he stopped a moment wondering if he should really say what he was about to next. It felt a little to personal, more then he wanted to say. "I told him to worry about himself, first and formost." he said, his eyes suddenly cold, as if he was shutting something away.
The truth was...that Severus really didn't want to leave the palace. Who would want to leave a place they had lived for more then half their life? Who would want to leave a place that had such a wealth of knowledge...which held such great promise for anyone here? It was his home...more then he liked to admit. It had saddened him a great deal to learn that Shinrai had no intention of keeping Bernard as a King...or that...Xiven he'd heard about. The truth was...for however badly he felt about being kicked out of the place he recognized as home, he felt even more poorly for Bernard...who had lived here for longer then Severus even knew. The man had even admited to him that he had no place to go. He didn't have any place to go either...not with his mother so upset at him as she was.
His demenor was very cold, and distant, his jaw set.

[....wow... pregger hormones just pwnt this post. XD]
Something in her mind shifted. Her irrational mood swings had swung her back to her usual self, and though she felt a difference, she did not show it outwardly. She began to wonder why she cared about this man's personal issues, how she could ever in casual conversation inquire about and continue a conversation...
Whatever. What mattered now was ending it. She was eagerly waiting the day when she was no longer present and her mind could be her own... then again, with the demon spawn that was sure to result from the blood of Heilyn and Seth, that statement may be completely void...
Wait... what was the train of thought again? That's right. Gods, if I didn't love that man...
Pregnancy sucks.
I swear, if I start craving sardines drowned in chocolate, melted cheese, with capers on top I'm gonna fucking scream...
Caring... caring about this person's past and thoughts. Right. She was thinking about how she didn't care about that. Maybe some blueberry syrup on it, too... Then again, she should probably continue doing so, as if he is not kicked out, it is always good to have friends in higher places. I wonder what kind of wine would go good with that? Besides, her room was only doors away... I am allowed one glass a day...
She watched his entire demeanor change. He was quite the introvert wasn't he? He looked like his inner turmoil was just as bad as hers, but for different reasons, to be sure.
Well, at least she was back to normal, at least for a second... they'd reached the door. She shifted back so that she could take her key in her hand and put it in the lock.
"I'd love to continue chatting," THANK THE GODS, IT'S OVER!!!!!1 "but we've arrived. I thank you for your concern of me, and wish you the best of luck." She would wait for Severus to reply and turn away before letting herself in her room. God my feet hurt she couldn't wait for Seth to come back so he could rub them... he really was a good man...

[OOC: Oh god XD; that food creation a la Heilyn is so nasty sounding XD;
I assume this is the end of the rp? It's been lots of fun <3 We should have another soon XD!] Heilyn wasn't the only one who was happy to finally reach the the top of the stairs and her room. Severus was glad that the interaction was coming to a close as well. To much socializing for one day, and to much of it filled with absolutely loaded questions he didn't feel comfortible answering. Now he could go back to being the hermit he most enjoyed being. He continued to watch her, and make sure she stayed steady, but she seemed fine after a couple mins. His antsy need to leave in that moment was covered by the reinstalling of his cold outer shell. He simply dipped his head, "Until we meet again then." he said before indeed turning away. The Coyote didn't seem to want to extend the goodbye and he was glad for it. He didn't really want to either. Black robes fluttered behind him as his pace picked up consideribly walking down the steps, each hoof making a soft clop. Now he could go to Bernard's office and pick up the things the man had told him to read about the Glaciers and about the Diary of Serafino's complaints. He supposed he needed that last bit more then the other. That is if he ever wanted to be Queen.
