His face dropped at her answer, not so much though that it was visible. “Why yes, love it is certainly the Snapdragon. I was a silly boy to underestimate your knowledge” He laughed.
Well this was a sly one, he should have known from her mentioning her family earlier that she probably knew what it was he threw at her. “I suppose that concludes our little game and you have come out victorious.” He smiled.
“Now on the flipside, why don’t you point out some flowers to me and tell me things I did not know” He grinned.
At least talking about flowers would keep her around for a little longer and he could enjoy her company that much more.
“I always love to learn when I have such a lovely teacher” God, he really was kinda lecherous… she wasn’t taking his bait though and that did many things to his ego. He had flirted with her shamelessly and nothing, he wondered what it was he was doing wrong.

“It was a fun game.” She said agreeing with him as well as hoping to cheer him up over his losing their deal. “I would love to show you more of the plants, and I assure you that I do not know all of them.” She replied, patting his arm that she still had hers looped through.
When he complimented her look she gave him a smile. There had been a few people who would tell her the same but either they were people who were merely friends or it was from people she saw as, sadly, becoming no more then friends. The same, so far, seemed to fall with this man here at her side. She could not say that she saw him as anything more than a handsome man, someone who made her laugh, but he did not make her happy like he did.
She gave a sigh, shaking her head. It was a hopeless dream and the quicker she got over the fantasy the quicker she could be content with her life being single.
“How about, to help make up for my winning, we have supper tonight? I currently do not have any plans and if you do not either, I would love to spend some more time with you.” Her intent was purely friendly.

His ego was a bit hurt, he would admit it… not so hurt that he couldn’t enjoy the rest of the night with this pretty young mouse though. He knew he was going to strike out with her, but that hadn’t stopped him from trying; it would keep him occupied for now at least. It was better than going home alone; his bed would probably be a cold one tonight.
“Supper? Well sure, love. We can definitely have supper… on me. If I could, I would like to get to know you better and I will admit I am feeling a bit hungry” He grinned. Ah yes, this could be a perfect opportunity for him to go on and try again. Besides, at a place of business, there were always people who would oblige to him, if Elyse didn’t want to. "If you're ready, we can head over to the restaurant now?"

She was sorry that she seemed to have hurt his feelings. She had not meant to in any way. He seemed like a nice enough young man, though she did find herself wondering just how old he was, surely much older then herself. Well she was not going to bring that up; there had not been any need for it so far.
Giving a nod, she started to lead the way away from the herb garden. Though he had asked questions and seemed at least somewhat interested, she was not sure if plants were his thing. It tended not to be with most people.
Dinner did indeed sound like a wonderful thing.
“Well thank you,” she said with a smile at his comment that he would pay. That really was nice of him. “Where should we go to eat?” She was going to let him decide, in hopes that it would make it up to him some.

(Kay hon, gonna take the lead and then end the thread for us  " We're headed to the Grey Swan Inn and Diner, love. They all know me there so I know we will be treated well." He led her into the joint and stopped to chat with the owner. " Peder! Who is this lovely creature you have with you? I haven't seen you bring a lady in here with you before..." The sweet old Torque deer questioned. She had known Peder and Pathos for years, even before their parents passed and always had an eye out for them. " Vicci, this is Elyse. We ran into each other earlier and she took me to the local garden." He grinned. " That so? Well, I would love to chat but let me get you two to a table, I am sure you are both hungry." Vicci led them to a table by the window and ran to get their waiter. Peder was happy to have a dinner guest though he would have been happier if it turned out the way he wanted. Ah well, he could get his happy ending some other time. |
