He blinked. He'd thought that that was what he had said. But if it made Morpheus feel better to re-state that, then more power to him he supposed.
"I don't know, exactly. Mama Quinn might, because she knows all sorts of things like that," and plenty of other random knowledge that had him and the others staring in confusion, "but she's not home now, so I can't exactly ask her." Or at least, he didn't think she was home right now. She could be walking around the Court perfectly unnoticed by everyone - she was sneaky like that.
Then the hybrid was going on about things being like puzzles, and he could only stare in confusion.
"I...guess?" Aph was both relieved and disappointed when Morpheus moved away from him, back to the jar of dye, and there was that sigh... Normally he would't interfere with anything, but the hybrid had at least been nice to him, and he was Mia's friend, too. So he gathered up his courage and asked, "Uhm. Are you alright?"

Oh, it certainly did make him feel better, he very much enjoyed sounding deep and intelligent even if what he was talking about was a little.... lame. It was all well and good as long as no one said something, or rolled their eyes while he was watching. Those kinds of things, well, he didn't appreciate them at all.
Quinn ... Quinn... that was that strange Otter he saw around here occasionally wasn't it? That was their other parent? Well ... it did make sense, she was the only other otter he'd ever seen besides Mia's siblings. The thought cause one of his brows to arch ever so slightly, nothing like not registering the obvious, yeah? Oh well, it wasn't all that important.
The tip of his sparsely furred tail twitched idly as he continued to peer down at the presently empty walk way, one paw sitting atop his precious jar. And then came that rather unexpected question ... no one ever really asked him about his troubles.
His tail paused it's motions and his ears dropped down to the side for a moment as he thought it over. Maybe talking it over with someone would be a little stress relieving?
I ...
No, no... he couldn't just sit back and discuss 'feelings' with anyone. That just seemed so... so very uncool. He pinned his ears back and lifted that paw before whacking the jar and sending it sailing over the balcony to shatter on the cobblestones below and getting a yelp of surprise from an unlucky servant who happened to walk out just about then. After the crash he hopped up onto all four paws and high tailed it out of the library, leaving the uncomfortable question behind along with Aphasia.
[[ Hehe .... feel free to do whatever Aph wishes after the time skipping ... Mo will just be moping probably XD ]]

For a second, he thought that he might be able to actually help someone, even if only by sitting her and listening to them. And then...
He flinched backward at the sudden, violent motion, jerking away from the hybrid at the smash of glass onto the ground, the stench rising upward from where the jar had broken. Then Morpheus was shooting past him, and Aphasia watched mournfully at the tip of the tail vanished around the corner. On the other hand, he suddenly realized that he needed to get out of there as well, if only so that he wouldn't be caught and blamed for the dye. With that in mind, he high-tailed it out of there, heading back for his family's rooms as fast as he could.
--
It had been a while since he'd been to this part of the library. The last time had been...huh. When he'd met up with Mia's friend Morpheus, or at least, he thought he was Mia's friend. Had been his friend. Honestly, he had no clue what had happened in that particular situation, and hadn't really ever wanted to ask Mia. His brother would just blow him off, if nothing else.

Morpheus on the other hand, had become a regular to this specific section... especially late at night. He's managed to convince the librarian, by looking as pathetic as he possibly could, into keeping the balcony open for him to come and simply chill, or sulk rather, which was precisely what he was doing now.
He was bigger then the last time they met, having grown like a weed, and was just starting to fill out rather nicely as well. His fur was neat, orderly and shiny, no need to allow his appearance to go to hell just because he was depressed, and he had a new little addition as well, a shock of hair as green as his eyes were. In short, he was everything a lowlander certainly shouldn't be and had every inclination to steer even further away from the stereotypes as he continued to grow.
But right now, despite the shiny coat and pretty hair, he was the picture of pathetic as he laid halfway stretched out on the balcony, staring up at the night sky with head as close to between his paws as he could manage. That long, sparsely furred tail of his was draped over the edge between the wrought iron bars as well. Yes .... this is what he did at night now, his best friend hated him and then said friends sister decided to attack him. What else could he really do?

That shock of green was what caught Aphasia's attention, and at first he wondered just who the strange Card was that was in the Library. He didn't know everyone in the Court, of course, but still, it was weird, because the Card looked so...very...familiar? The otter blinked a few times, and then stared in consternation as he suddenly registered the coloring and patterning. It was the same exact patterning that one might find on a Lowlander, but there was a distinct lack of rotting or open wounds that almost every other Lowlander sported.
And there was only one Lowlander that Aph had ever met that displayed that sort of trait. The longer he studied the other, the more he became aware that yes, this teen was really familiar, if quite a bit older and bigger.
"Morpheus...?" he ventured, before he was all that aware of what he was actually doing or saying. However, it was too late to take back that word, and he wasn't sure he actually wanted to. It was Morpheus who had run away from him, after all - he didn't have any problem with the hybrid boy, even now.

He had heard familiar foot steps, but he'd hoped they went on by without noticing him. Those were otter foot steps and the only otters he knew were directly related to a certain ferret who'd managed to, whether it be intentional or not, make his life a bit more like a living hell. He didn't want to be argued with about that subject anymore .... but no one seemed to quite believe him that it wasn't his fault, not entirely.
But .... the voice used to speak his name just didn't seem to have any ill intent behind it and he trained an ear on it's location before lifting his head, curling his neck and peering back at the Torquehelm. He didn't look angry either, so perhaps he could actually have a little company this evening? He was a bit lonely ... mother just wasn't entertaining enough.
Hello, Aphasia.
He curled his tail loosely around a bit of the wrought iron as he waited to see what the other boy would do, or say, next.

Aph frowned at the hybrid's almost...despondant attitude. That was probably a bit too emotive of a word to really describe him right now, though. Morpheus did look sad, though, and he wondered just what it was that was driving him to act like that. He'd heard something about a fight between the Lowlander and Mia, but it wasn't like he'd really paid all that much attention to what his golden-boy of a brother was up to. And it wasn't like Morpheus had ever really done anything to him, aside from making him carry a smelly jar and then flirted with him. And the flirting had been nice, even if he hadn't had any idea whatsoever what to do in response to it all.
Not like he had all that much of an idea about it even now, but at least he wouldn't act like quite as much of an idiot, should the topic come up again.
"Hello, Morpheus. It's been a long time since I'd last seen you." First and last time, really. It had been nice, though.

When it was apparent that the otter wasn't simply going to leave, he pulled himself up onto his front paws and his rump and removed his tail from the bars to rest it on the balcony's floor. His mane was a little messed up from laying on it, but it didn't exactly bother him right now.
It has been awhile, hasn't it?
His voice was off an distant, as if he were simply speaking to the air around him, but he did tilt his head to the side and look the other boy over. He was bigger, sleeker .... but still looked like the same old Torquehelm from however many years ago they'd last met, not as shy either, it seemed. Maybe he really could have a nice little chat .... being utterly alone just wasn't his thing.
He curled his tail around the other side of his body and patted the empty space with it, a rather obvious invitation to come and sit with him ... but just in case ...
You're welcome to join me, and tell me what you'd been up to or .... something.

"Your mane is really pretty, by the way. When did it grow in?" Because he'd heard that some people had manes that only grew in when they reached adulthood, and Morpheus was...well, not an adult, but growing up. The color certainly looked good on him, and Aphasia wondered just how long the Lowlander's mane was going to grow. No one in his family has manes, and he really hasn't interacted with anyone else who has one, so he doesn't know too many of the intricacies behind taking care of them.
"Well, I haven't been up to too much. Mostly just knocking around the Courts and doing odd jobs, to save up money." He'd thought about going to the styalist in the Capital City that he'd heard about when he'd gotten 60p, because that was a damn respectable amount of cash, but he'd sucked it up and kept asking around for jobs that could be done by a still-growing young otter in the Courts. Aphasia had resolved that he would go in with 100p to spend on piercings of all sorts (and really, he'd only decided on one so far, but he figured the guy he'd heard about had to have all sorts of ideas).
"What about you?" Because it was only polite to return the inquiry, after all. "Did you ever manage to dye your mother purple, by the way?"
