"Yeah.[/b]" the bat's reply was completely lacking in enthusiasm, but hey. At least he had made this much of an effort to keep interested in a conversation with the Mid-ranger. He just didn't want to pretend to be any more interested than he actually was. That kind of thing was just rude.
One ear twitched as Ichigo spoke, letting the mouse know that the bat was, in fact, listening to what he had to say. Well, at least he had figured out what he'd meant without Seth needing to say anything else. "I would love to get in contact with your... employer, if that's the case. At least, I figure I could trust in you to suggest my name, should the need arise.[/b]" he gave the rodent another of his award-winningly not nice grins. Oh boy, today was just turning out to be wonderful, wasn't it? And the Diamond court... How could he not have thought of that? He had heard from Heilyn of a Diamond Queen who could probably found right in the city. They would need to meet.
Then Ichigo asked his question, and Seth's ears lay back slightly. Damnit. Was the mouse really trying to save his soul or something? "It pays the bills and I'm damn good at it,[/b]" he finally replied, shooting the mouse a sidelong glare. Go on, squeaky. Make something of it.

"I'll make sure to mention your name then," Ichigo said as he took another bight of his fruit. This bat was quite an interesting fellow. Beyond that Ichigo really didn't have much of a judgment. His glare seemed to be some sort of challenge.
"It's your honor on the line, and not mine. I just can't imagine the risk involved with doing something like that. I wouldn't want to be caught. Not like I would since I play for the opposite team. Hired guard and all that." The mouse didn't care about other people all that much. If they didn't get in the way of his honor they could screw up their lives as much as they wanted. His honor was not on the line. Many people would disagree with him, he was sure, but he could careless.
He wasn't as strict as all of the people he grew up with. "I'm sure there's other things you could do with your gift, but that's up to you, of course."

"Much appreciated,[/b]" he replied, watching the curious mouse closely. So, he was a bodyguard, eh? That certainly spiced things up. With any luck, he'd at least be working for the same employer, and that (usually, there were a few notable exceptions) meant that he would not find himself fighting with the mouse. Killing people who's names you knew on a personal basis... Well. It got messy. "I hope our professions don't put a damper on our budding relationship,[/b]" he remarked, voice dripping with sarcasm.
"If you do it right, there's no risk.[/b]" Seth shrugged. Making yourself invisible was easy enough, if you knew the right tricks. No one would suspect a thing. "And if you have the right employer... Well.[/b]" he laughed, looking skyward with a toothy grin. "No one'll miss whoever it is you're taking out.[/b]" he probably shouldn't be sharing this information, but... Ichigo was a Mid-ranger. He was sure it was dishonorable to rat on someone, especially when you had agreed to help them out.
"Like what?[/b]" he asked, looking a little irritated. Killing people was... Natural. It made sense, in a way. In the Glacier, people died if they were a waste of space, why should things be different here?

Ichigo snorted. What an amusing man Seth was when he was being sarcastic. At least, Ichigo hoped it was sarcasm. People had said weirder though. "No risk," the bat said. He doubted that. There was always a chance of someone finding you out if you left a sliver of a hint. At least, that was what happened with his uncle. He got to pay the ultimate price for not covering up an assassination attempt.
What could a killer do that wasn't illegal?
"Join the army for one. Though I imagine it would be slow without any wars. You would get paid for doing nothing though," The mouse shrugged. "You could be a bodyguard and work for someone with a constant target on their back. Those people tend to pay a lot if they're paranoid."
Or he could just stick with being an assassin. That was always a good plan. A bad one for his honor, but that didn't phase the mouse. "But I suppose your current job gets you the money fast."

Ahhh, a snort. Either Ichigo was amused or annoyed. Seth didn't really care either way, they both provided him with amusement of some kind. He leaned back slightly, folding his wings in close once he had finished eating like a fuzzy coat of some kind.
He laughed. "Right, the army. The army pays, but not as well, and the individual is forgotten. I'd be just a nameless footman, my skills going under-appreciated.[/b]" he shook his head. "Paid for doing nothing is nice, but if I'm doing nothing... Well. I'll get soft. Don't want years of training to just... Stagnate.[/b]" He shot the mouse another sidelong glance, and stretched.
"And I'm sure it'd put a damper on our friendship if I became a bodyguard, too. Not polite to steal work from others.[/b]" another toothy grin. "And, yeah. It brings the money extremely fast. Enough that I've been living here for a few months without worrying about cash.[/b]"

"True. I wouldn't be particularly happy if you took some of my business. Eventually though I want to have a better goal than just a bodyguard. But then again, a lot of people have amazing goals that they never reach," Ichigo shrugged, "Getting paid is my current worry. I don't get paid as much as you job, but it is steady pay."
At least he had someone willing to pay his price. Sometimes he got stiffed, which he didn't particularly appreciate. He shook his head and continued to nibbled on the grape fruit. He never was a big eater. He would have to eat the rest a bit later. "I imagine you meet quite a few interesting characters in your line of work. I bet people preach to you about saving your soul quite a bit when they're face with death." Ichigo had seen a few people executed in his youth. People on the verge of death said some strange things, that was for sure.

"Constant pay would be nice, I'll admit.[/b]" the bat grumbled, scratching himself behind one massive ear and then looking at a blue claw. At the sight of a small amount of blood, his lip curled slightly. Damn. Must have knocked a scab off when he'd done that. That coyote had been much more rough with him than he'd expected... "All the same. I figure I've got a few month's rent in me still. If I need to, I can pick up some dumb gig on the sidelines.[/b]" he shrugged. He'd always been able to make things work.
His ear twitched again. It always did when he was annoyed with something, and in this case, he was annoyed by his interest in whatever it was the mouse was saying. If he could, then he would just ignore him completely. A slight twinge of annoyance entered his voice. "What is it that you want to do that you don't think you'll be able to?[/b]" he finally asked, giving into his curiosity.
"You have no idea.[/b]" he laughed openly. He'd had a number of strange requests from dying people, and the subject of his own honor rarely came up.

"Eh, well. I want to go to courts someday. I just need to find my biped form and such. It's a long way off," The mouse shrugged and sighed. "I'm not worried about it. I may change my mind or some such nonsense down the line. You know how that works I'm sure."
The mouse decided it was an appropriate time to continue his meal. He didn't speak again until he was completely finished with the grape fruit. Ichigo looked over at the bat, he seemed to be rather annoyed. If it was at him or if it was because of something else the mouse didn't honestly care. "I have a bit of an idea, actually. I have seen quite a few executions back home. My dad had the habit of making a show of people who betrayed him and such." Ichigo was thankful that he hadn't inherited his father's temper. He was thankful he hadn't inherited a lot of things from his father. There were enough sadistic bastards out there.

Seth nodded. This was something that he did understand. He was confident in his skills as an assassin, but he was less so in the way people viewed him. Skill was not all that mattered in their world, as even if he could beat them in a duel, a Jack who was in the business would almost certainly be chosen before him, a lowly eight. He could have growled down at the black marking that stared back up at him, he hated it so. "Yeah.[/b]" was his simple answer, and he returned to scratching his ear.
Seth couldn't help himself, and stared openly at the mouse as he ate. How could he manage to eat the whole with such tiny, polite little bites?! The mind boggled.
But then Ichigo was speaking again, and Seth felt his stomach crawl slightly. His father sounded thouroughly unpleasant, the bat decided in a moment. It didn't take much to figure at least that out. What was more interesting, however, was the tone the mouse used when speaking of the man, and Seth tilted his head curiously. "Something about the way you say that makes me wonder. You don't like your father much, do you?[/b]" oh, yes. Definitely curious now. Family was ever so important to most of the realms, and for a cutter to speak of their family with such a tone...? Ohoho. This was fun.
