It wasn't often that she used her abilities. She didn't dislike them, though they often seemed a bit incongruous for her. Well, perhaps they were entirely and perfectly fitting. She was more than a bit of a wallflower and even with all of her time in Court, she was still very shy. No, really, it just didn't usually occur to her to use them and she would simply muddle through her life as best she could. Today, however, she was tired and a little bit crabby. She had her work, but.... but that felt like it was the only thing she had. Her own son pretty much despised her and his father, and his father.... His father was wonderful, handsome, intelligent, smart, and.... and in love with another woman. Not that they hadn't agreed! They had. But as she wandered from the library hidden with her own invisible ability, she couldn't help but wonder if perhaps she wasn't just deluding herself. Calia was lovely and perfect; a mother, a caretaker, a humble and absolutely wonderful individual. And Kelasia.... Kel did paperwork. And arranged schedules. And any number of other things that anyone else could be trained to do. With a sigh, she continued on her way, moving briskly to slip unseen through the crowded streets.

El wasn’t invisible, but he might as well be. It was actually a little odd getting used to his ability. He was invisible for all intents and purposes, since nobody noticed him if he didn’t want them to and didn’t make an effort to do so. There had been some interesting fudging at first, since some higher ranked cards saw him anyway when he was quite conspicuous in his bipedal form, but that happened less when he was in his animal form as now. He wondered what it would be like if he decided to visit the courts. That wouldn’t be a good idea. How could he convince him that he couldn’t somehow turn invisible if that were the case?
No matter. What he wanted was to find the library. He figured he could sit down with some books and find out what else he’d been missing in the past twenty years or so he’d spent hiding in the Marsh. Running a business that let him meet new people all the time. Sometimes his own logic, and Whip’s, made him do a mental double-take.
The only problem is he couldn’t even FIND the stinking library. That very much went against his goal of reading at said library. It was making him a little bit crabby. He hoped to find it soon, or else he’d have to get someone’s attention. That might be interesting, but he wasn’t in the mood for jokes. He moved to the corner, hoping to miraculously find the library within sight there.

Kel continued to skirt through the crowds, but a little girl tripped right in front of her. With a soft intake of breath, Kel swiftly tried to sidestep around and avoid injuring the small child. It was another instance of her own abilities just not really occurring to her and instead of leaping into the air to take flight-- how many skunks could fly, really-- she made a quick detour to the corner of the sidewalk. She was going to just skip around very quickly, but, unfortunately, that's not wot occurred.
As she stepped into the open space, the woman tripped over something and into someone. She gave a soft oof as surprise not only lit her features but knocked her right out of invisible mode. To her utmost shock, she found herself lying neatly atop a Josiggy Marsh man, who didn't seem overly pleased to find himself being used as a cushion.
"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry!" she breathed out quickly and tried to scramble to her feet swiftly. She managed to partially pull his tail and step on one of his feet before she could get away. Flushing a deep crimson, pale eyes stared at the ground as she tried to think of the best way to make amends.

Elias “oophed” when he hit the corner and became entangled with the skunk. He supposed it was his own fault she hadn’t seen him, although, looking at the mark on her chest, she could have noticed him if she wasn’t thinking about something else. However, he wouldn’t have been able to see her, so he wasn’t overly upset at himself either.
A skunk from the Range. Elias filed the fact away, though didn’t do much with it. Whip had ranted a few times about skunks and Rangers and the like, so after making the connection, he dropped it. He wasn’t quite paranoid to see that sort of connection to everyone.
“Calm down, now,” he said reasonably. Man, but she was blushing. “I’m as much to blame as you, so let’s just settle down and breathe, huh?” He might start cursing otherwise. Plus, if she didn’t calm down, he had a feeling that she might bump into him or someone else, and they’d be right back to square one. “Maybe you can help me while we’re here, how’s that sound?”

"Oh, yes..." she answered rather uneasily, still embarrassed. "Of course, I would be honoured to be of assistance to you." She inclined her head slightly and then really began to look at the man. She turned pale eyes to really look at the man. A Josiggy Marshdweller. Ever since an alleyway run-in with a certain Josiggy Marsh equine, Kel had found herself tensing up around them.
This canine, however, seemed fairly easy-going and certainly not prone to the attacks of drama the Queen of Hearts was. It was a relief, actually. She gave a small, shuddering sigh and tilted her head curiously. "How may I assist you, Sir?"
Wot in the world could this Marshdweller be looking for in the City? And why on earth hadn't she seen him standing there before she so rudely ran into him.

“You see,” Elias began, “I’ve been kind of cut off from the main of society for quite a while now. I was hoping to find the library, or some other place where I can just sit and read what’s been happening in the world. I just found out not too long ago that an associate I met not too long ago has risen to the top of a Court, which was fairly surprising, really. So I decided it was time to see what else I’d missed.” He left out Theo’s name because he really didn’t want to seem like he was name-dropping, especially when it would seem like he might be threatening the person with contacts. Threats later, maybe, but even then, only threats that he could surely carry out.
He began to really inspect the female. A skunk, and from the Ranger, it seemed. He was sure that was fairly common, but he still decided he wouldn’t let be taking her to his temporary place at the Court of Hearts. A certain equine he knew might just kill her for how she looked, and wouldn’t that be hard to clean up?
“So, is it within your will, good lady, to show me where I might find the library?” He wolf-grinned at her a little bit.

An acquaintance of his had risen in the Courts? Wouldn't it be ironic if it was one of The Queens? She idly wondered if this strange Club knew Queen Aderlass. . . but no, he likely simply knew someone who had just become a Face Card. It was happening rather abruptly right now, it seemed. Well, perhaps not. She knew those within the Court of Diamonds had long since been putting work into ranking up, but there were so many changes.
His grin confused her and caused another slight blush that simply baffled her further. People didn't flirt with her; she was of no real account, even now as a King of Diamonds. She was like a glorified secretary, as one Card had once implied and now the words seemed to haunt the woman. But now was hardly the time to be worried about that.
"Oh, uh, no; I would be happy to show you the way." She gave a rather vague gestures back in the direction she had come from. "This way, Sir. . ." She turned and prepared to lead him to the library.

“Psh. Call me Elias. What do you like to be called?” he asked. He followed her on the way. She seemed somehow fragile. Not in her body. El guessed she was most likely shy, or something. He really didn’t know enough to make that sort of a judgment. She was pretty cute, though. Either that, or he’d been isolated for a long time and everyone was cute. He doubted that was it, though. He’d been in the city for a while, long enough to see what there was to see, so to speak. He’d gotten an eyeful of Sekhmet, that was for sure. He supposed that had set the standard for a while. She was a little to openly flirtatious for him, though. It made him comfortable after being away from women for so long.
Maybe that’s what it was about the skunk? She wasn’t flirty. Not exactly playing off-putting, just acting like a normal person. He thought. Maybe he still needed to get out more. As it was, he contented himself with stealing glances at her as they walked, grinning whenever he got caught.

"Oh, uhm. . . Okay. . . Elias. Sir. I mean--!" she sent him an embarrassed glance only to discover that he was staring at her and grinning. She missed a step and stumbled slightly, though she was swift to catch herself. She flushed again, even more embarrassed since she'd tripped and had nearly fallen in front of this rather flustering stranger.
She pushed on for a few more blushing steps before remembering that he had asked her name as well. "Ah. . . my name. . . is Kelasia. Please. . . feel free to call me Kel." Many people did now, but, for some reason, her cheeks tinged pink again as she offered him the use of the more intimate nickname.
She glanced over him again and he caught her looking, the wide smile spreading swiftly across his features. Her whole face felt like it was on fire and she determinedly fastened her eyes to the sidewalk and continued on. The library had never felt so far away!

Elias was getting a kick out of this. He was never a lady killer, but Kel was making him feel utterly masculine and good about himself. He strutted a little bit. He wondered what effect his Taur form might have on her. He hesitated to use it, though. He didn’t want to scare her quite so soon. Maybe later, if he found out some terrible, deep, dark secret, he wouldn’t mind startling her a bit. Or if she was spoken for. That thought hadn’t occurred to him. Should it have? Probably. A King was likely to have at least a Face Card lover if any. It might be better to find that out before getting overly aggressive. But, he could have a little fun now, and claim ignorance later, he thought. What was he thinking? He shook his head a little to clear it. Was she using her Diamond charisma? He didn’t think so.
“It’s nice to meet you, Kel. Have you been in the City long?” he walked easily beside her. She wasn’t exactly the best company, but he was enjoying himself nonetheless. “Do you visit the library much?” It wasn’t like him to respond like this to a female, but he found himself not worrying over it too much.
