"Close enough. Let's walk over to that group of people," El said. He was actually interested to see if his ability would work now after having attention called to him. He thought it probably would. He and Kel happened to be the highest ranked people in the library at the time, and he wanted Kel to be able to notice him anyway.
He led the way to the group, and activated his ability again. He wasn't sure what people saw when he activated the ability around them. Did he seem to just vanish? He didn't think so, at least not totally, because he was pretty sure that if he saw someone vanish he would react more than people did to him using his ability. Maybe they just forgot he was there? That sounded more likely, actually.
Maybe he could ask someone to help him research it later. Knowing the nuts and bolts of his ability might help him in unexpected ways. But that was for later.
"Kelasia," he said distinctly and clearly. Here's hoping it worked, otherwise they would have a time trying to get any research done.

Kelasia was following El towards a group of people, and then he seemed to have just walked off. A small flicker of anxiety mixed with annoyance went through her as she wondered where he might have gone.
Suddenly, he called her and she blinked and gave him a vague smile. "Where did you go?" she asked quietly, not wanting to disturb the other patrons. She still got a rather strange look from one man, and she quickly looked away to hide her friend. Why was he looking at her like she was talking to herself? It simply made her feel a little ill at ease, which she definitely did not like to occur in the library.
There was something strange going on and it took a moment for her to realize that no one was screaming or point at Elias' strange 'taur form. Well, that was very nice of them! She felt a surge of generiousity towards the man who had sent her the look.

"There, that should help," Elias said. He thought it only fair to explain to Kel quickly. "I'm not sure, I think everyone sees me, but they don't notice me. So yeah, sorry about earlier, that was my fault, I was playing around a little, and using this ability to slip through the crowd. I've not really talked to many people about the skill, but it seems to affect my rank and lower no matter what, and I think I can let people notice me, but so far when I do that, it's only who I call out to. So," he said with an uneasy smile, "There's a chance of funny looks because for now people have pretty much forgotten that I'm here."
He moved to a vacant table. "I'm hoping that if people don't notice me, we won't have to keep pausing to talk, and assure people that you're okay, and all that good stuff, and we can get some work done. Sound like a winner? Sorry for just springing that on you, by the way."

Kel's eyes widened slightly at his explanation. It was handy in this situation, but she seemed to have that ability without magic. Okay, not really, but she felt like it often enough. Still, it was useful for Elias with his 'taur form and she couldn't help a small smile for him.
"Please don't concern yourself about it," she said softly, moving to one of the chairs and sitting down. "I hope you don't get sat on, though." This thought brought out a quiet giggle that she quickly stifled behind a hand and twinkling, amused eyes.
She turned her attention to the newspapers then, unfolding one carefully and glancing at the date. It was just yesterday's. "Is there anything specific you're looking for, Elias?" she asked softly. Without knowing wot to search for, she might not be of any help at all and she did want to be useful to the canine.

“Now, see, you say that you hope I don’t get sat on, but I think that some part of you wants someone you don’t particularly like to sit on me just to see what I do. Maybe I’m just imposing my own thoughts on you, I don’t know. It would be funny at first, though.” He thought for a minute. “I’d be more worried about being tripped over, I think. I can’t usually use a chair, so I’m not worried about that.”
He picked up a paper and looked at it. “Mostly big headline stuff. The stuff that will eventually be in history books and whatnot. And any who’s who stuff. I like to know who the major players are in the courts, so I know who to seek out or who to avoid, not that they usually hold as much sway as they think they do. No, the people behind the scenes, the quiet ones, are the ones that keep things running. People just don’t realize that until they’re gone.”

Kel gave a soft giggle at his words, though she certainly didn't agree with them, letting her eyes lip away as she listened. When he mentioned the chair, however, her gaze came back and she contemplated his appearance once again. Oh, gads, she hadn't even thought about it being awkward for him to sit! She took her own bipedal form for granted, it seemed.
As she listened to wot he was looking for, her ears flicked back again. "Well, maybe I can help a little bit." She bit her lip lightly then began to list things off. "Well, knowing the Queen of Hearts now, that means you know that the late Queen of Hearts Serafino is dead. He was assassinated by his uncle, whom King Bernard then killed. The Queen of Diamonds is now Queen Theofilus." She could say nothing more on that subject; it was still a bitter pill that she refused to let the Queen see bothered her. "The Queen of Spades is still Queen Lysaras, and the Queen of Clubs is now Queen Aderlass." She had no way of knowing the canine personally knew 3/4ths of the Queens.

“Mhmm, mhmm. Good. That was definitely a shock to hear of that assassination. I’m glad that it was handled, though,” El said, in a slightly different tone than he had been using up to that point. He trusted the Queens that he knew, but there was always the risk of people he didn’t trust trying to take the throne.
“What about the other Queens and Kings, and all that? Any problems that you’ve heard of out there, or people aiming for The Top Spots?” That was something that might not make it into the papers, but Kel could be privy to some of it. “Back in the day, there were a few Cards that I wouldn’t want to trust with power doing everything they could to get hold of some. Bad times those were.” Still the different tone. “Sometimes I wonder if I want to go back to the Marsh and hide for another spell, you know?” He smiled at her.

Kel could hear the strange tone and her ears went back a bit uneasily, though she didn't feel like she had any right to question him about it, even though his last statement hinted at equally high connections. Still. . . she pressed on to try and answer his questions.
"Well, you should know the Kings in the Court of Hearts. . ." she lifted a questioning brow before listing them swiftly. "Kings Bernard, Gaston, and Sekhmet." She pressed on, since she didn't really know any of the three. "In my Court, King Vestra is still around, as well as Mnemosyne and myself." She hesitated briefly, wondering if El knew about Mnem since, allegedly, the Queen of Hearts had quite a few. . . interesting children by the woman. "We still only have one Queen on staff, her Majesty Iria but she had yet to take on any Kings." Kel defaulted to the 'she' pronoun for the strange Diamond Queen.

El nodded, then did a double-take at the words. "I didn't know Mnemosyne was a King of the court, though. Interesting." He didn't indicate whether he thought that was good or bad, though. It was helpful, though, as it was at least one more connection he had that he might be able to call upon. To get the Lowlanders shipped off to Hisstor, it would take all of those and then some.
"I have met the Heart Kings, though, you're correct. Interesting bunch. Well, who at Court isn't interesting? It's just not always in a good way." If he had to hear haHA one more time, he wasn't sure what he'd do, and he wasn't even around the Highlander that much. "I think so far everyone is getting on well enough that there won't be a lot of inner strife and danger for The Queens. Well, I don't know anything about the Court of Spades. Do you know any Spades?"
