Having been able to align with the Hearts his next goal had been to find connections to the Diamonds. It would be one of the best ways for him to better take care of his Clubs and hopefully raise the bar on what people thought of Clubs. The chances were there, it was just making that connection.
The Queen easily went along with Elias' ideas. "That sounds like a wonderful idea." He easily fell into a more relaxed pose. While he knew his place as The Queen, it was also his belief that one should still be able talk one on one with people outside of politics.
Kel really did seem a little flustered. It was very cute in a way, though personally he did not find it to his taste. Turning to her with a friendly smile "Oh that would be lovely if you could offer your assistance."

Kel's ears flattened briefly in fear and uneasiness, but she really couldn't refuse a The Queen. She had a feeling that refusing this particular Queen could be terribly bad in the long run for both herself and for her Court. Oh, no, she would make herself quite useful, if she could manage it at all.
"I w-would love to b-be of assistance to y-you, your M-majesty," the woman tried to control her stuttering and shaking voice. She had to be professional and calm. She still envied Elias his easy manner, and especially how familiar he was with the rather frightening mouse. Her eyes narrowed briefly and her head tilted very slightly. A mouse with horns. . . that reminded her of something, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what exactly it was. Very strange. "W-wot are y-you l-looking for?"

Sensing Kel's reluctance, though of what he couldn't be certain, he offered some help. "Maybe we can just walk to the right section, and pick a book from there? I bet that would help narrow down the choices," he said, beginning to walk a bit.
"It's been a while since I've had a lot of time to read," he said, trying to fill the awkward silences, "but I always used to like the reference section, on magic at least. Picked up a trick or two that way, which was nice. Well, to be fair, it wasn't from the book, it was learning principles put forth from the book, along with finding someone to help me learn the skills. But that doesn't sound as good as saying I picked it up while reading one time." He smiled, feeling more at ease, though he was careful to keep his particular brand of charm in check, at least in public and directed toward The Queen of Clubs.
"What about you two? What are your favorite?"

The mouse hummed to himself as he considered that question. "I am not quite sure wot it is that I am looking for."
Waving an arm out, he motioned for the skunk to follow after the 'Taur, only taking up the end after she had complied. At Josiggy's comment he considered that for a moment. A book on or about fire would not be that horrible of a read. There might even be something in there that would be considerably useful to himself.
"I find that there is not all that much time for reading other than the countless paperwork that is laid out in front of me." He offered up. Even when he had had free time before joining the Court he had never really been one to read. "How is their selection on magical abilities?" He asked nonchalantly.

Kel was relieved when Elias took the lead, but she was terribly self conscious of The Queen of Clubs following behind her. She bobbed another small curtsy at his gesture then did as she was bid, though her tail tucked tightly to her back legs. The fluffy appendage was too large to fully fit beneath her, even with her bipedal form, and she had to step carefully to avoid falling.
El was already aware that she had few favourites; she was just a knowledge worm. She loved to read. That said, she really hadn't read a great deal of their magical section, so she found herself, rather oddly, looking forward to this foray among the shelves.
"It will be on the left," she murmured softly to the canine. "Another two shelves over and I think just one back." As soon as she said this, however, she flushed. Elias probably already knew. She fumbled to try and answer the Queen's question. "Everyone thinks highly of their magic section, Your Majesty," she said softly.

"You're a gem, Kel. I don't suppose you could show me any good books on common magical items, could you?" He'd had the rose stuck in his mind like a splinter since finding it. Any idiot could tell it was magical. But, he couldn't tell what it might do. He wanted to play this one close to his chest, in case he had just happened across an extremely powerful artifact that people might be willing to steal or kill for.
Then there were the gloves. He'd heard too many stories of people being killed by cursed clothing they put on to just throw on some gloves he knew had something magical about them. He was much more cautious than that, thank you very much.
"Pictures would be best, I think. It's all well and good to find out information about a long intricate staff, or whatever, but it doesn't mean anything if you have no idea what that description means by intricate, you know?"
