Rogers was dead asleep by the time Rosewood slid into bed and still asleep when the swan woke up the next morning. Feeling him shift on the bed and the covers move over his fur served to push him into a state of semi-awareness, however, and he sighed happily when he felt the tips of a beak carefully nibbling at his ear. Mornings were always better when you had someone to share them with.
Even when you had to go and deal with things you really wished never happened in the first place. His worries of the night before came back to him and he whined slightly, a very canine sound, before he forced them down for a few minutes. No, he wasn't going to let that bombard him just yet. Not when it was still early in the morning and Rosewood's feathers were pressed so nicely up against him, and the swan had greeted him in a very cheerful manner.
"Yes, but only because you asked," he agreed with a small yawn. "I'll be more ready after food and coffee, I think. Do you still have that seedy bread you had last time?"

Rosewood sighed as he wiggled a bit under the covers. "Mmm, yes. Coffee and that nice bread I still have. If you want I could probably make you a real breakfast. Eggs, toast and bacon?" The swan offered as he slowly made his way out of the safety of the covers. Morning was always a difficult thing.
He looked at the clock next to his bed. He had two hours before he actually had to be at work. Maybe he should cancel all of his appointments today? That way he could deal with the problem alongside Rogers. The probably was his cancellation policy and that he was seeing a rather unstable client on medication today. Stupid obligations. At least he didn't have to work at the club today. Even if he did he could have traded his shift with someone last minute.
The swan cracked his back as he brushed his feathers back into order. He was going to start the day with a tall glass of orange juice after he put the coffee on.

"Mmmm, you know me and bacon," Rogers agreed with a tired grin. He slid out of bed and brushed fingers through his fur, grimacing. He hadn't showered at all yesterday and after all of the crying, he felt like a mess. "I'm just going to take a quick shower," he called over his shoulder as he headed towards the bathroom.
Scalding water beating down on him at a nice, hard pressure was more than enough to wake him up and make everything feel a little bit better. He took some time to towel the fur as dry as it was going to get and used a little bit of one of Rosewood's body sprays. Wet dog was never pleasant in the morning, even for him. He came out of the bathroom smelling like 'rain' or whatever the bottle had said it was supposed to smell like. It was one of the lighter fragrances, one of the few he liked.
He walked out of the bedroom and was hit by the combined smells of coffee and bacon, his stomach reacting to the smell instantly. He hadn't eaten dinner yesterday, his body very helpfully reminded him. "You're an angel of mercy," he sighed as he walked into the kitchen.

The swan hummed quietly to himself as he worked in the kitchen. He was more than happy to fix a proper breakfast, it was better when you had two people. Rosewood was almost finished fixing the bacon and eggs when Rogers walked in. "Angel of mercy? I never knew one that mercy had black wings." He snorted as he placed the bacon and eggs on a plate for the canine.
Once Rosewood had his meal he sat across from the German Shepard with a small smile on his face. This was going to be a long day for the both of them. Until he the problem was solved Rosewood would be anxiously waiting the results. At least they could have a proper breakfast together.
"I wish you the best of luck today. Tell me how everything goes, all right? I'm going to be worried for you all day," The swan sighed before shoveling a fork full of eggs into his beak.

"I guess that's why it took me so long to find you," Rogers agreed with a small laugh, more than glad for the attempt at humor to lighten the mood he could feel threatening. It was all in his head, he knew, but it was going to be one hell of a day until everything was resolved... providing that it even was resolved today. He didn't know what he would do if this dragged on any longer. It was already starting to fret at his mind again.
He smiled and reached out to just touch the swan's hand for a minute before he started in on his breakfast. The hot food felt so good on his growling stomach that he let out an audible sigh of pleasure. "Thanks for that. And for this. All of it, thanks. I'll give you a call after everything plays out, or just come over. Or both. I think both."
Wolfing down the rest of the food, he went to pour himself a second cup of coffee and sipped it more slowly, more interested in the taste now that he had the caffeine in his system trying to do its work. "I should probably get going in a few minutes. It's... awkward, but I don't know where my clothes are right now." He coughed. "I should probably just... keep some here instead of bringing them with me every time."

Rosewood snorted. At least Rogers was trying to lighten the mood. Once the swan was done with his meal he pour himself another glass of orange juice while Rogers was busy with coffee. "I suppose if you keep a set of clothing here that would be thanks enough. I have a giant closet with plenty of room in it."
The swan looked at the brightly colored canine with a weak smile. This would be a troublesome day, but he needed his focus. The promise to call when things were sorted out was enough to calm his nerve to some degree. Rosewood set his glass down on the table absently, continuing to look at Rogers.
"I'm sure if you left them on the street Theofilus was kind enough to pick them up. Maybe you should get a set of enchanted clothing or something?" It was a idle suggestion. Rogers was going to leave shortly anyway and they would have to give their parting goodbyes and good lucks.

That comment about the clothes was an invitation if Rogers ever heard one. It would be just another level of... permanence, he supposed, in their relationship. He already spent one or two nights a week in Rosewood's apartment and brought a change of clothes and toiletries with him each time. Maybe he should keep a spare toothbrush too...
And now he was just distracting himself, though the comment about enchanted clothes made him laugh a little. "No, I'm afraid they wouldn't get any use. It's not like I lose them on a regular basis or anything like that." Only when he was having an utter panic attack and running away from angry friends. His smile faded and he put down the now-empty coffee mug, walking over to give Rosewood a small lick and a hug. "I should probably get going so I don't end up late on top of everything else. I'll see you later, though, and tell you how things went."
After they said their goodbyes, he left the apartment and walked to work, getting there just a few minutes early. At least he'd woken up at a good time from going to bed so early, even if he still felt rather tired.

Rosewood gave the canine a prolonged embrace before saying his proper goodbyes. He still had an hour or so before work. Maybe he should just get cleaned up and go to work early.
Theofilus had approximately four hours of sleep. He was sitting and waiting for Rogers behind the front desk. His fingers were laced together and he had a rather disgruntled look on his face. The sparrow was not happy.
As soon as the door opened Theofilus spoke to the brightly colored figure. "I'm still angry at you." He shifted in his seat so he could be slightly more comfortable. Maybe he wouldn't be so frustrated if he hadn't obsessed over the entire ordeal almost the entire night. He picked up a bundle of folded clothing and set it down in front of him. "These are yours, I didn't have time to wash them, but I figured you'd want someone to pick them up for you."

Rogers opened the door and stepped inside to be greeted by... well, it was probably worse than he was worrying if that was the first thing he heard coming in to work. He froze, a pained look on his face, then closed the door and walked slowly up to the desk. So Theo had been waiting for him. That should have been no surprise. He just wasn't sure what to do.
"Thank you for picking them up," he said finally, after a moment's hesitation. He reached over to pick up the clothes and held them against his chest, standing uneasily. At least it gave his hands something to hold on to instead of just fidgeting by his sides. But what to say...
"Theo, I..." He paused and swallowed. Why was this such a horribly awkward situation? He couldn't say he was sorry because that wouldn't really be true. He was sorry that any of this had happened, certainly, but he didn't necessarily regret his decision. Except the part where the Ace was now Theo's son and his name was apparently Peter.
