Theofilus tapped his fingers on the desk in front of him. "You're not sorry," He provided. The sparrow knew full well that Rogers wouldn't change his view on Aces just because of him. He didn't know much about his friend's family life because they never spoke of such things. Let sleeping dogs lie and all that.
None of this really helped the situation. It was awkward, and there was no turning back. Neither of them could change what had happened. It was really now a matter of mending their friendship. If that was even possible.
"I never meant to rain on your parade, but this happened and... there's no way I'm going to give Peter away. So what are we going to do about all of this? Are you going to stop associating with me or what?" Four hours of sleep did not help Theofilus' ability to articulate, and his diamond charm could only help so much.

Rogers gave him an absolutely horrified look, claws digging into the clothes in his hands as he gripped them tighter. "What? No! Certainly not. Theo, you're family to me, you and your children. I would never voluntarily stop associating with you." Voluntarily being the keyword. If Theo ever told him to leave them all alone and meant it, he would. It would just hurt like hell and he'd have to find a new job. That was absolutely the last thing he wanted on all counts.
"I'm not telling you to give... Peter... away. I'm not telling you to do anything. I'm just freaking out a little. Sorry." That bit he could honestly apologize for. He was sorry he was behaving like a spaz and just ran away yesterday. That had been the wrong thing to do and he knew it even as he did it. Still, it helped to be able to talk to Rosewood and get that burden off his chest, if nothing else.

The sparrow let out a sigh of relief as he leaned back in the chair to look at the ceiling. That four hours of sleep was a very bad idea, enough for Theofilus to make a rather disgruntled sound as he looked at the canine once again.
"Then everything is fine for the time being?" He asked wearily. Going home and taking a nap seemed like the best of solutions to him. "If you're not going to disassociate with my family or me, I don't see the problem. That can't be settled at a later date, or at least after both of us have a bit more rest."
What would happen if the boy figured out that his parents were actually Rogers and Rosewood? Well, right now he was still young and impressionable... and still trained to be a house pet. It would be a long while before he would even be able to do math like that. No immediate danger to his sanity or Rogers.

Rogers nodded slowly. 'Fine' was an interesting choice of words, but he would take it. So long as the sparrow wasn't casting him away for doing this, for having lied about that day in the hospital, he supposed everything was... 'fine' for a while. "Yes, I think it's all where it needs to be for neither of us to have a panic attack." He hoped. Gods, he couldn't stand another one. That was just awful. And it was triggered by forgetting the stupid key of all things.
"You look just about how I feel," he said with a weak smile. "You should probably go home for a while, Theo. Drink some tea, go to bed, ignore things for a while. I'll just take morning shift and go home when Zane gets here in the afternoon." More likely, he would curl up in Rosewood's apartment and wait for the swan to get back from work. He'd have to give him a call as soon as Theo was out, though. Tell him everything was 'fine' for now.

Theofilus was thankful for Rogers comment. The man nodded as he slowly got up from his seat. At least he could walk straight, that was a bonus. "Thank you, for understanding. Good luck with your shift." He managed as he picked up his briefcase before making his way to the door.
He turned back to Rogers before exiting the building. "We'll sort everything out properly at a later date. I'm sorry this is such a terrible mess, and we can't "fix" things now. Really, good luck today." The sparrow gave him a nod before slipping out the door. The walk home seemed terribly long. This problem wasn't going to to magically fix itself. At least the immediate threat was over.
Four ours of sleep was a really bad idea on Theofilus' part. The sparrow was thankful to find the apartment empty. He flopped on the bed, briefly thinking about how to solve the mess.

Rogers sighed, smiled slightly, and waved him out. "Thanks. I have no doubts we'll talk about it later, but for now hopefully it's settled enough for you to get some sleep. Four hours here and I'll probably be ready for a small nap too."
Once the sparrow was gone, he picked up the phone and called Rosewood briefly at work before anything else. It was a short conversation, less play-by-play because it didn't need to be. Things were temporarily put to rest, though the bigger issue wasn't resolved, and it wouldn't eat at him like it had last night. That was good enough. It had to be.
After he hung up, he went to flip the sign to 'Open' once more and pulled out one of the accounts to go over while he waited. It was going to be a long four hours.
And it was. By the time Zane got there, he felt like he was dragging and gratefully turned things over to the young bird, apologizing for leaving him to take it alone. Extenuating circumstances and all that. He went back to Rosewood's apartment and crashed for a few hours on the swan's bed.

Rosewood was grateful for his small magical ability to rid himself of headaches. He had a horrible one from all the drama about payment with his "normal" job. His secretary wasn't thrilled about playing accountant with some of the clients. The phone call he had with Rogers was thankfully brief.
When he opened the door to his apartment, Rosewood unceremoniously threw his briefcase in the corner of the room. Shutting and locking the door behind him, he headed straight for the bedroom with every intention of grabbing a few things so he could take a proper shower. He wanted to use that sent he had picked up...
"Rogers!" he said with surprise at the man on his bed. How could he miss the bright colors on his dark purple bed spread. The swan let a sigh escape him as he sat down on the bed besides Rogers. "So... How did work go for you today?"

Waking up at the sound of the apartment door opening and closing, Rogers raised his head groggily from the pillow and watched the bright white swan walk into the room, tail lifting for a lazy wag and thump against the bed. "Rosewood, hey... good to see you're home." He still felt very muzzy after waking up and brought up one hand to scrub at his eyes.
The swan sat down next to him and, rather than getting up, he just raised himself to scoot closer before laying his head on the man's feathery lap, looking up at him. "It was long. Dragging. A lot more painful than it usually is. I got through it, though, so it couldn't have been that bad." He shifted a little to wrap one arm around Rosewood's waist, head staying where it was as he relaxed a little more. "How about you? It sounded like you were having one hell of a time on the phone, just from the tone of your voice and the sound of your secretary in the background."

The swan really wished he had lips or something. That way he could kiss Rogers on the nose like he wanted to. "I think the best way to solve both our woes is to snuggle. Because honestly that's the only coherent thing I can conjure up at the moment. Which is saying a lot don't you think?" He grinned down at the canine and ran his fingers along his chin.
If he wasn't so tired he would have thought of something else to do. However, snuggling was good enough for him. Rosewood shifted so he was more comfortable and properly sitting on the bed with the canine still in his lap.
"At least things are going to go better from here on out, right?" He asked quietly as he looked into the canine's eyes. It was a rhetorical question and he didn't want or expect an answer. He just wanted to stay like this for a little while longer.
