Mephitisia peered down at the little colt, unable to hide her curiosity. A random cannibal horse proved to know far more about the Courts than she would have expected on first glance. He had said his mother was part of the 'Real World', what he considered the Courts, and Mephit assumed it was they that had taught him.
Which only made her curious as to who this mother might be...
"Yes, I did." She arched a brow. "Do you know Bernard, as well? Or have you only heard of him?"
Although she played his game and answered his questions without resistance, her mind was slowly drawing in another direction. She was not interested in answering questions about herself, but in finding out about his Mother and the sources from which he discovered all these small tidbits about what he called the 'Real World'.
Hum.
If his Mother was apart of the Real World, the Court, then she must have seen one of the two before. Most likely his Mother, as Mephit was usually more distracted with her own work as a Jack or her personal pursuits in the dungeons with Pravus. She rarely ventured among the servants and did not know them very well, nor did she know this colt.
Once she knew whether or not he knew Bernard, then she could decide her next line of questions.

It did not occur to the colt to ever lie about anything, though he would fudge the truth to Mother quite often. Poor Mother. He just needed so much care.
"I have heard of him and seen him," Ira replied with a side glance up at the woman. Oh, right, she had fangs. In talking with her, he had forgotten. Those seemed terribly useful. He wondered if he could get a pair at some point. "But I have not met him."
Again, his impulse control seemed nil as he continued on; he spoke as though it were in the same vein of their current conversation even though it really wasn't. "You speak very well with your fangs. I would have expected some sort of lisp or stutter, but you show neither." He was lightly impressed by her accomplishment, whether or not she viewed it as one. "If I get a pair, I hope I can manage as well as you."

Mephit nodded quietly as the colt spoke. So he had been in the palace, but he didn't know the nobles all too well? Interesting, but it didn't make her pursuit of information any easier. Of course, Ira had also happily run off onto another subject before she could ask anymore questions. Awkward too, as he'd turned his oddly observant attention onto her fangs and her speaking abilities.
At least he didn't know about the terrible migraines she'd endured while they were cutting through.
"Fangs can be useful...but, far from pleasant to grow in... Or, as you noticed, to speak around." She rolled her shoulders in an absent shrug. It wasn't a massive accomplishment for her or anything, but she could recognize the challenge of it in the eyes of one who hadn't been born with them. "How do you intend to go about growing yourself a pair, may I ask?"

Ira also seemed oblivious to his forcing a subject change. He hrmed thoughtfully deep in his chest and looked out at the crowds again, contemplating her question with all of the concentration of a young boy.
"I could try asking Cauter," he finally said confidently. Not that he really and truly thought it would work, but he was quite pleased with himself for coming up with an answer that was at least slightly plausible.
"I could also try asking Minh, but I don't think that'd be such a good idea. I'd end up with fangs growing out of my hocks or something. Though... that would look cool." He paused to muse about that for a moment before continuing on. "Though it probably wouldn't be quite as useful as if they were in my mouth. Hock fangs just don't seem particularly well placed." Well, not if you wanted them for biting, at least.

Mephitisia watched Ira quietly, bemused by his thought processes and the slow, deliberate ways he went about things...only to sprout out the most obscure answer possible. Interesting...but, quite strange.
"I don't know if Cauter would be in possession of such things..." and if he as, Mephit would be quite fascinated to find out.
While Cauter was a recognized name, Minh was not. Whether or not Mephit had heard of the woman was debatable but the fact of the matter remained that she knew nothing of her. "Minh?" She questioned softly, trying not to pay too much attention to the 'hock fang' concept he had began to ramble about. She'd already pegged him as strange and that did nothing to adjust that thought. "I don't think I've heard of them before, do they live in The Real World? Or elsewhere?"
Whoever they were, they sound almost like a scientist and that was quickly interesting. Mephit was admittedly quite biased toward her own region.

Ira gave a small shrug, as though blowing off any further thought about Cauter or his goods. It was a suggestion, nothing more, and he brushed it off as though it had been someone else's and not his own. Very peculiar.
"Minh," he replied without looking towards her. "Is my other Mommy. She couldn't live in the Real World even if she wanted to, because her world is a lot cooler than the Real one could ever be. I think there are ice cream pooping clouds there and that's why she's so spacy." Because the young equine certainly had room to point fingers. Or hooves.
"My Mommy says that she just one day sprouted proof of the devil and that it probably served her right for messing with the nature of cards rather than just leaving things properly as they should be." No mention that his Mother had not said this to Ira; the colt had been eavesdropping on a ranting. "I think the tentacles are very pretty."

Mephitisia shrugged off his previous commentary without much thought, focusing on his train of thought now. A second mommy? Interesting. Did he have a Daddy in there? Or were all parental figures 'Mother' in his mind?
"Her world is cooler than the Real World?" Mephit's brow arched smoothly, her head tilting a little. The boy's thought process was remarkably strange, but Mephit remained curious nonetheless. He had some valuable things to say, she found, even if he said them in the worst ways imaginable. Ice cream pooping clouds, really now! "What sort of world does she live in, then?"
"Tentacles can be interesting... Though, proof of the devil? Has she stopped messing with the nature of cards....or does she continue?"
Mephit's thoughts had proven quite correct. The Colt did have useful things to say. Perhaps this Minh was a scientist, even a scientist that might be of interest to herself. Unless she was simply one of those geneticists and, well, Mephit had endured enough of those sorts to last her a lifetime.

Ira turned to give Mephit a border-line exasperated look, as though he had just explained this to her and she was obviously to smart to have missed it. "Ice cream pooping clouds," he reiterated, enunciating each word slightly, but for a moment he wasn't speaking like himself. He had the air of a much older and more worldy person, almost as though he were mimicking someone. Just as suddenly, however, it was gone and he was back to being easy-going and just a little spacy.
That did, however, seemed to be the end of his discussion of Minh's world.
"No, she hasn't, but she's a bit more circumspect when Mommy's around." Ira suddenly frowned. "Actually, I think she ran away to become a pirate. Daddy says that she's lucky there's so many kids around now or she would never get any chores down." So there was a 'Daddy' here. He gave a suddenly fond chuckle. "Daddy tried to sell the twins on the black market again last week but nobody would take them. She should have brought me or Eir; we would have made lots of money."

Mephit could've laughed if the colt wasn't being so damnably serious. He truly meant it when he said ice cream pooping clouds, but Mephit wasn't about to say such a thing out loud and pretend she was sane by any means. She wasn't really sane by most means, but she was too sane for that comment.
So she let Minh's world drop and focused further on the rambling of the colt. He mentioned a Daddy and She, which meant his family was all the more effectively screwed up than Mephit had originally thought.
"A pirate?" Mephit shook her head suddenly, clearly saying she didn't intend to finish that thought. "Does your Daddy live in the Real World with your Mommy? or Minh's World?" Trying to sell children on the black market seemed like something more suited to the Real World, especially if they were Aces... If they were Aces. Befuddling world this boy lived in, and what a family he seemed to have as well.
"Do you have a large family, then?" Mephit did, by her standards, and she fully intended not to think about them for the remainder of this conversation with the cannibalistic colt.
