Food? Food! He ran after the next piece, pecking it up from the floor and crumbling it up with his beak, savoring it to the last few crumbs. Mmmm. Biscuits.
So delighted and anxious for other foods, he began doing another trick immediately. Or at least, it kind of looked like a trick. It was mostly just him making a lot of noise with his wings splayed open as he hopped in crazy circles, head tilted up to stare at the tall creature to see if he'd drop the food. Charlie jumped in the way of the falling biscuit, still spinning about. The morsel bounced off the rooster's head and went rolling under a piece of furniture. Charlie scrabbled after it like a desperate hungry thing, throwing himself prone on the ground so that he may squirm underneath the cabinet to get to it. For all that it acted starving, it certainly wasn't; it was happily plump and his plumage shone with health. Ah well, pets will be pets, yes?
He stood back up with the prized half-biscuit in his beak, hurriedly running off into a corner to peck at is as if fearful someone would take it away.

He knew the pet game very well, he had a bander back at his hideout that certainly acted like this when he had some tasty morsels the little green beggar might like, and he didn't figure Zuberi to be the type to let the chicken starve. No, not when she was so willing to let him into her home despite the fact that he stunk to high heaven and his meat looked like it was just waiting to jump off his bones.
No, she'd been the same nice woman he remembered from his younger years. only age had seemed to treat her far better then it had him. And this chicken here.... didn't' seem to give a damn about either of that either. It was.... a happy feeling.
He stretched out on the floor on his belly and patted the space near him with a paw, beckoning the chicken over so maybe he could pet him a bit. He'd grown up being taught that Aces were people but this one.... made that a little hard to believe. He acted waaaay too much like a pet.

Charlie's demeanor changed, his head going up as there was a noise at the door, someone fumbling with the door. Home? Home! A series of punctuated happy clucks escaped the ace as he bolted to the door, weaving in figure eights as the lock turned.
"Hi, I'm home, I- Aeeaugh! What's dat godawful smell?" she pushed the door the rest of the way open and dropped the groceries on the ground, moving quickly to start opening some windows. "Oh Brokat is that you? Oh we need to get you in the ocean pronto and get you cleaned- Oh… That's new." She stopped when she realized just what was protruding out of Brokat's back.
Immediately she looked concerned, glancing toward her cupboards as she wondered if in fact he'd grabbed some mixture of concoctions from her shelf and accidentally done this to himself. "It… wasn't anything in me house that did this to ya, is it boy?"
Though really, it was more likely that something in her house would make him lose all his hair than sprout rotting, blistered wings. Was this some strange curse he'd come upon? She knew all about curses and how they liked to really screw a person over.

He tilted his head first to one side and then the other as he watched the little bird start to move around with an almost crazed sort of manner. Tasseled ears perked inquisitively as he eyed the little beast..... what on earth could the thing be doing? That's when he heard the distinctive sounds of a door opening and her perked up a bit himself, his tail wagging as he eyed the door to see Zuberi step back in. However, his ears drooped as his tail and gaze fell to the floor.
He was so used to his own foul odor that he forgot it was, well.... rather disgusting to other people and it still was a tender spot in his fragile ego. Wait, what? New? He blinked a few times in confusion before it hit him.... those wings. Damn, he generally liked to keep those a secret, but they demanded to be out for at least an hour every day. He'd just been far too sleepy to remember to let them out before he passed out.
But why would she think something in her house would do this to him? That got one brow to arch quite high as he turned his gaze toward her instead of the floor.
No.... no it wasn't from here. But.... you have things that would do... .this?
Very carefully he wiggled one his shameful wings, just enough to move it but not enough for it to schlep off any powder and sighed. A curse might have been easier to deal with, actually.. .yes.... because his bracelet was cursed and he didn't mind it's effects at all.
No.... this was done by Corvies in a 'pursuit of science."
He tried not to sound bitter, he really, really did .... but he failed miserably at it.

Zuberi said something in Midori that sounded less than pleasant, one word translating easily enough through the Midori accent as 'Corvie'. She threw a few herbs onto the warm coals to help combat the smell that had pervaded the room.
"Never ya mind dat, boy. If t'wasn't one of my own collection dat did it to ya then it's good enough for me." A dismissive enough response to that question, but the woman didn't seem too terribly paranoid now that she realized it hadn't been her fault. She leaned against the table and sighed heavily, one paw coming up against her gravid belly as she took a bit of a breather.
"Sounds like ya been t'ru a lot in such a short time.." Her face fell just slightly, but only for a moment before giving the Lowlander a smile. "I take it those… go away, aye? Didn't see em last night."

At first he kept his little rounded ears back and avoided her gaze, finding the floor more acceptable to stare at. Slowly but surely they rose up as his gaze did and a tentative twitch of a wag wiggled the very tip of his tail. He could tell she was disgusted, but she was pushing it back better then he imagined someone would outside of the family. It was pretty nice.
Well I.... suppose it could be worse, right?
His tail twitched a little more and far more recognizable as a wag versus the first time before he peered down at the smaller, rotting set of wings. His whiskers twitched a bit before he looked back at her.
I can normally keep them .... er, tucked up inside I guess you could say, but they seem to need to be out for at least an hour a day. I just .... forgot about it and it's actually quite and... unpleasant process.
And almost urine conjuringly terrifying, but he'd rather save a little face and not put that little bit in. Some things were just better left unshared.
