Auuuugh. So pregnant. Suckage.
With her feet inclined onto the hammock, she lay on the floor, hoping that the flat wooden floor would somehow.. straighten out her spine and relieve some of the pressure on her lower back. And her legs... they needed the weight off of them. Having them hanging suspended felt -lovely-.
So. It had been a while since she'd been visited by anyone, and almost as long since she'd made her trips around the Courts. It was good though, to be home. Admittedly it would have been nice to have someone with the common sense to help her around the house.
Charlie could only do so much, after all. It seemed like he understood most things she said, but his wings were useless for carrying things to her, and he was far too tiny to help her up. Perhaps she'd need to go get herself one of those smart, servant aces? She had.. conflicted feelings about owning ones who seemed intelligent enough to be their own person, but if they needed a roof over their heads and a stable place to live, she wouldn't hesitate to give them one.
But yes... Perhaps she'd call someone to help her? She had some sand within arm's reach, surely. There were certainly enough clubs in the village that she knew she could call to help her fat ass back up. But... she was so -tired-....
Without realizing it.. she'd fallen asleep, snoring lightly as she lay on the floor.

He slipped through the semi familiar foliage silently, remembering the path to his 'aunties' house vaguely from childhood memories. It was well into the night now, he wished to avoid running into anyone but the squirrel before he... well, ran into her. He was aware that he looked like an odd ghost shifting through the night ... he'd probably scare someone actually .... and he didn't want that. His paws hurt, the fur on his legs was muddy and matted and he looked as if he hadn't slept in days and, being a Club .... he hadn't. However, he was running near the end of his suit given stamina and just wanted to reach his destination.
Would she remember him? He had the same shape he just .... looked dramatically different. His fur was colored like snow instead of dirt and those wings... .well, he was keeping the grotesque appendages hidden inside him for now.... but he remembered what his sister had told him .... the scent of old blood hung to his coat and lingered, making him smell reminiscent of death. He'd tried a hundred different options too and none of them worked... he smelt bad but he looked so.... angelic now. It wasn't fair ... with a coat and eyes like he had now he would have been accepted into society, could have been loved, but no.... some Corvistownians lies and 'fun' made him a freak eternal ...
And left him with just this option in the end.
He skidded ot a halt, almost passing the hut, and pricked his little rounded rat ears forward. Suddenly hsi chest was a ball of nerves and he... wasn't quite sure if Zuberi would even let him in. He was a freak, an ugly, unlovable freak ...
But he cleared his throat anyhow and shifted his paws in the sandy dirt ...
Zu ..... Zuberi? Are you.... are you awake?

A particularly loud, cranking snore was practically choked on when the sound of someone's voice woke her, a hand coming up to rub her eyes as she tuned her ears to see if it was just a dream. This damned skulls on her wings surely loved to chat it up now and again, but they were still and silent on her appendages. Was... someone here?
Charlie's clucking would give that fact away, the bird ruffling his feathers and scuffling around the door curiously. Finally. the bird jumped up to the open windowsill to peer out, turning his head curiously at the creature that stood there. Bawww? Bawk bawk.
The feelings that had been quite nice to her feet from having been suspended were not placed with a most uncomfortable numbness. Slowly, she set them back down on the ground to allow blood to flow to them again. Damn.. and there was a guest at the door. Who would be visiting her at this time of night anyways? Regardless, they couldn't be much of a threat if they were announcing their presence.
"Come in! The door isn't locked." Heaving herself up into a sitting position, she let out a loud sigh before setting a hand on her stomach. Oh yes. The sooner this baby was born, the better.

He heard some odd scuffling sounds from inside that were curious .... but the sudden appearance of the Ace in the windowsill made him jump back and fluff out his snowy fur. He relaxed a bit when he noticed what it was, or rather.... it's size and curiousness. He peered back at the bushes where he'd left his companions, if a Mushroom with mild sentience and a bander could be called much for companions, and pushed his way carefully into hte hut ... he remembered how flimsy the door had been in the past so .... just a precaution.
Not only was he white and stinky, but, since she'd last seen him as a child, he was massive compared to then. Quite obviously the wolf and eagle in his mix had overpowered the rat for size ... not to mention he was also well fed and just a wee bit on the round side as well.
I .... uh .... hi.

When the door opened up, Zuberi hadn't looked up at first, still rolling about on her ass and finding her footing. She grabbed hold of her hammock and started to pull herself up. "Sorry... can't get off the floor easily in my state, and wood slats are more comfy than a hammock lately..."
And then she turned her head, and she -stopped-, falling a short ways right back on her ass as her foot went out from under her. A wince went across her features, but it didn't stay there for long. She stared at the creature before her. Probably what caught her attention was that he looked so -familiar-, yet so strange. A -smell- had begun to creep all throughout the room that was disconcerting to say the least. The huge beast would probably come up easily to her waist. Still, there was -no- way that the shape, and precise allocation of animal traits would escape Zuberi's photographic memory. The colors were different.... but there was enough the same to recognize him after only a moment's reflection.
"Brokat... is that you?"

He took a couple steps backward when she fell, ears going back in a mixture of embarrassment and uncertainty. She probably wouldn't want him here, especially uninvited. And the worst part? He could feel his other set of wings starting to tingle under his skin, begging for release. Generally he only let them out when he slept, but that hadn't exactly been an option the past few days .... however long it took to go from the Capitol to Midori on foot and wing... he'd looked far worse before he'd taken a dip in that stream a few days past.
The talons on his hind paws clenched a bit when she made her query and he slowly returned his blue gaze from the floor and back to her ... well, maybe she wouldn't mind? He still wasn't sure.
It is and... I'm sorry... sorry to bother you so late and all... and... unannounced as well.

It was a surprise, to say the least... But all in all, Zuberi was a very easy going woman. It was recognizable as Brokat, and that was good enough for her. Now though.. her tailbone hurt, and now Charlie was scurrying about her with clucks and croons that she'd learned to associate with worry. She shooed the chicken away gently, now grimacing. Damn.. she'd fallen down -hard-.
"Don't be silly. You know you be welcome here any time you wish. Why don't you come here... help me up." Surely a strong, strapping lad like himself could help her to her feet now that he was fully grown. Wolf types surely were a large sort; it made her realize how often she dealt with smaller cards.
Reaching out her hand to him, she beckoned him forth.

It didn't take much to convince him that she wasn't angry at him for showing up so late, she'd been nothing but kind to him in the past and thus his usual paranoia was soothed for the time being. At her request his ears perked up again and he moved toward her, glad that his talons didn't clock on her floor. He couldn't do much in terms of hoisting her up, but he could be a nice, sturdy handle for her to lift herself up with. He glanced at the chicken for a moment, such an odd little pet it was, and then back to her, ears perking up a little more.
Now that he was closer he noticed something.... different about her. She.... hadn't had a human form before... had she? And.... suits was she ever pretty. His white fur fluffed up a bit as he cast his gaze back to the floor, quite glad that it was dark and she couldn't see the red of his cheeks.... at least he hoped she couldn't. He shifted his wings in an awkward manner and waited for her to get up, keeping his gaze away from her.
Why did everything always have to be complicated by something or other? Pretty woman weren't to be trusted, he'd learned that the hard way with Thalia ... but this was Zuberi .... He clamped his beak/muzzle shut to fight back a hefty sigh. Damn it all.

It became obvious to her when her face was practically flush with his fur as she pulled herself up on her feet that the smell was coming from him. It smelled... bloody, but from what she could tell, here was no blood on his pure white coat, though it certainly felt somewhat tacky from general dirt and grime. She brushed herself off a bit before giving a long sigh, staring off at nothing in particular for a breath or two before finally giving the young man a smile.
"Goodness boy, when have you last slept? You look like death warmed over." And smelled like it to, but she'd keep it to herself. Turning toward the cupboard, she pulled out some cups to fix them both some fruit juice. "I've a spare bedroom upstairs. I'd imagine you need a place to sleep." She had questions, sure.. but generally when a lad showed up on your doorstep tired and muddy and smelling to high heaven... you shouldn't bombard them with questions right away unless they look like they might have someone chasing them.

His muscles tensed to further brace himself when she picked her self up off the floor. She pulled a few hairs in the process but he wasn't going to fuss over it ... it was his fault she'd fallen back on the floor anyhow. He turned his gaze back to her, finally noticed her rounded stomach .... hum, he hadn't scented anyone else here too recently besides her and the chicken, the other scents had been stale.... well, mate or not... he'd not be asking her any questions she might not want to answer.
Her question though, that weighed him down a bit and his voice reflected it .... now that he'd relaxed he could finally feel the wight of his limbs, even his fur seemed heavy.
Four days? Give or take ...
Hum, sleep.... that sounded wonderful. Stairs, however, didn't... but again, he wasn't going to complain.
You're sure I won't be a bother?
