No problem. Mr. T is a Corive/Mid-ranger. Mostly Corvie, and he's a rare "white" marked Corvie, instead of a neon color. ~Nathalia

Ok so here is a weird question that I have.
I was watching Spice and Wolf and found something quite interesting... Currency. On thinking of this I turned to SoD and found no information about it. So I was wondering this:
Does SoD have a universal currency? Are their different coin per different regions? and who controls this, the Capital or the Strongest Court at the time?

Currently? The currency is in copper, silver, and gold, and used much the way American currency is. Copper being change and small dollar amounts, silver being 20-50 depending on the amount, and gold being akin to having 100 dollar bills to flash around. If anyone comes up with a different mode of currency, they're welcome to run it by me, but if it's too complicated, I reserve the right to turn it down. ~Nathalia

Well when I was thinking about it and after watching that anime did it really start me thinking on the subject. I was going to go into further depth about it, though I restrained myself so I wouldn't make it overly complicated.
My Thoughts about Currency:
Well each region has its own language... meaning that its like its own separate country, thus having their own currency based on their import/exports, meaning that the Glacier since they export much iron and thus their currency would be worth more than that of the Lowlanders since they do not have much to export, so they make no money. Regions that Import much, like the united states, makes their form of "notes" worth less in other regions. Like Belgium exports more than they import from other country, so their currency is worth 1.7 more than our American dolor.
So if a system was developed it would be this simple unlike the complicated mix above:
Each region has their own currency, though their is a universal currency that is worth a set amount (i.e. Capital Gold). The Regions would have their own currency based on how much the value of it is by the Capital City based on the Regions Wealth.
So you can say that Lowlanders being as they don't export much are the poorest of the Regions, where as Yarrow Gardens and Soldorian Glacier are among the richer Regions.
Make since?

I'd also imagine there might be court specific bank notes, but those are likely rather special and used for large transactions like.. businesses. I'd imagine aside from precious metals, Court money might be the most stable. Also... Richard: *moneygasm* STOCK MARKET YESSSSS???

It makes sense, but it has only been in recent memory when different currencies had different values. Usually, all currency was valued based on weight and those values were set. While the Holy Roman Empire's guilder may have been heavier than the French franc, it's weight in gold was valued the same.

Since this is more an "Old World" setting, Nafa, I'm thinking more along the line of Gobbo here. I'm sure they have paper substitutes so that people aren't lugging around ass-tons of gold, and loans are probably since you could get a loan in ancient Greece...they would just come after you with fire if you didn't pay...literally <3
I'm unwilling to write out and regulate every Realm having different currency, sorry.

Lol that is perfectly fine, XD... this game is already complex as it is and it may just drive others away without any thought. And you couldn't really say how much a card would have in value, its different per different characters and players.
So paper money for the really rich and gold values based on the weight of the gold/silver/copper itself. That makes the most plausible since, ^^... I guess I was just making a bit more complicated than it needed to be, XD.
Though who is in charge of making this money?

Each Court regulates the money in their own area and passes it out to the banks. <3
