In her current state, Mori was relatively oblivious to the tensions that seemed to arise between the horse and the mouse. She was almost completely focused on keeping herself warm, and her little toes curled in slightly to pull them even closer to her body. Who had known that cold could so easily take control of all of one's emotions? She also dimly wondered how it could be so cold in the night, especially when the day had been completely plesant... When the stallion moved suddenly, her head snapped up, somewhat surprised by the sudden motion. His broad back was in her view, and as she glanced once more at him, she had the distinct feeling that he could be trusted.
"T-thank you, m-mister." she murmured as she tremblingly reached out to the horse, pulling herself as well as the heavy cloak up and onto his back. He felt very sturdy beneath her, she realized, and also very warm. Though she had just met the Jack, she found herself moving close to him, desperately clinging onto that heat that was eminating from his body. The mouse all but forgotten, she whispered up to him. "M-my name's M-mori. A-am I g-going to be in t-trouble, mister...?"

The stallion’s ears flicked backwards towards the creature on his back, concern sweeping through him at her heavy shivers and stuttering speech. He turned to the mouse, Aderlass, and gave a very brief head bob. ”I hope we have chance to meet in the future, Aderlass. There is something I would like to discuss with you.” He hesitated for a moment then gave the mouse the address of café near his suite. ”I am often there and hope to one day see you there as well.” With that as his good-bye, the stallion turned on the street to trot steadily away. He made it a sort of dressage trot, trying to avoid jostling the little bird on his back too much, but wanting to speed her to the warmth of their destination as quickly as he possible could.
It still took a few minutes to arrive back at his suite, however, even with the long-legged strides taken. The stallion slipped expertly back in through the door and carried the small Kahmden creature directly to his couch. The apartment was warmer than the night air in any case, but as soon as Mori moved to the furniture, the Josiggy Marsh dweller moved to the kitchen to put on a kettle of water for tea.
”You may call me Rai,” he responded over his shoulder. ”And I cannot say you will not get into trouble with your parents, but you’re not with me.”

The mouse watched silently as Whip walked off, from the direction he was taking, towards his appartment with the bird on his back. It had appeared that the horse did not recognized him. How sad, he thought mockingly, and after all that he had done for the horse.
Shaking his head slightly at the sad thought, he began repeating the address Whip had given him, in his head. He grinned at alittle at the turn of events. The horse might not have known what opportunity he had just given him, oh and he was planning on using it. He would not follow the horse just yet, no. Mnemmosyne was probably getting irritated at his 'delayed' arrival. He chuckled slightly at the greeting he was likely to recieve.
After the horse and his companion had taken a turn and dissapeared, he waited a moment longer, then headed off towards to apparentment where Mnem would be waiting. Yes this was defiantely be an interesting turn of events.

Mori clung desperately to Shinrai's back as he quickened his pace, her body extremely light on his back. The breif conversation between the horse and the mouse seemed to slide over her, barely making it into her mind in her current state. She was still drifting in and out of sleep, but at least now she was warm... The journey to the horse's house passed her by in a blur of buildings and the occasional light. She slept through their entrance into his suite, and her eyelids fluttered open as she felt herself being transferred to a much softer couch. The heat of the apartment filled her aching body, and her eyes finally found the green horse.
"Do you know my parents?" she queiried quietly, her stutter having vanished along with the cold. Her voice was still hoarse, and she coughed softly in an effort to clear it. "I never should have left them... If Ceren wanted to leave, I should have just let her." those words were spoken quietly, almost as an afterthought to herself.

Shinrai was relieved to hear the stutter vanish, but now he wanted to be certain the little bird’s cough was gone as well. Ceren was the missing sister, her recalled, but he wasn’t entirely certain he had anything of use to say about that situation; at least, not yet.
”I believe I know your father,” the green stallion said quietly, pulling out some mugs and getting tea bags. The little bird needed to stay warm for awhile; he just hoped she wouldn’t get sick from her exposure thus far. ”His name is Theofilus, correct? He’s making quite a name for himself here.” Unlike some of the people in the room; Rai suppressed a sigh at his own attempts to insinuate himself into the Courts. Well, now was hardly the time to worry about it; he needed to take care of his guest. ”Have you eaten anything recently? Are you hungry?” Take care of the physical concerns first then they could try for the emotional ones.

"Yes! Theofilus is my father..." at the news of his progress in the town, she closed her eyes and pressed herself deeper against the couch. She couldn't help but feel a small twinge of fear, her mind abuzz with thoroughly unpleasant thoughts. What if he was now too busy for her...? Surely, this would not be the case, as he had always paid her more than the attention that she felt she deserved, and was an extremely good man. He would be happy to see her, but he might be a little upset for having caused her mother such greif. At the mention of food, she looked up at him again. "I... no. I haven't eaten for a while, but I'll be okay for a while longer... I don't want to trouble you any more."
The little sparrow turned over slightly, closing her eyes and opening her beak as if to speak again, but only another fit of coughing emerged from her. When she raised her head to look at Shinrai, her eyes were slightly blurred over. There was a sudden realization that struck her then, as the heat surrounded her and the thoughts of finding her eldest sister vanished. "I-I think I'm sick." she whispered softly, her voice likely incredibly hard to pick up from where the horse stood.

As soon as she admitted to any sort of appetite, the stallion moved to a cabinet to pull out some bread. It would have been difficult to get just a bit of it off for the bird, but he almost always purchased pre-sliced bread just in case he had guests. Really, it seemed to be a regular occurrence that he brought people home with him unexpectedly. He brought the bread into the sitting room, leaving it on the coffee table for Mori to begin eating. His ears flicked back at her words and he glanced at her with some hidden amusement. She seemed exceedingly shocked that she was getting sick.
”Stay bundled up in the cloak,” the horse advised before returning to the kitchen. He started to make some soup as he waited for the water to boil. Soon enough the kettle began to whistle and the horse made the tea as well as poured some out into the soup mix. He finished preparing the tray then carefully carried it into the living room for her as well. He had his own cup of tea on the tray as well; he needed to get warm himself.

It only took a minute for the sparrow to move so that she could face the table, leaning over and gratefully beginning to eat it. In her worries about her sister and then about her own actions, she had completely ignored the way her stomach was twisting inside her, desperately pleading with her brain to stop and eat. She had to force herself to slow down or risk choking, which would be a very Bad Thing in her current state. When Rai spoke, she pulled the cloak around herself again, enjoying the heat of it. The bread inside of her made her feel much stronger, but her lungs still felt somehow shallow.
"Mr. Rai?" she called out softly, coughing quietly as she inhaled too deeply, desperate to catch another whiff of the delicious-smelling soup he had prepared. As he slid the tray in before her, she looked up at him, appearing too-small in the large cloak. As tempting as the full meal was at this moment, there was something on her mind, and she needed to know the answer. "W-why are you helping me?" it was an honest question, one that she just couldn't figure out an answer to. She knew it was her fault that she had gotten into this situation, and she had begun to feel it would be entirely up to her to get out of it again.

Shinrai blinked in surprise at the question and his ears flicked backwards, lending him an almost evil appearance. He thought the inquiry over, an action that likely only gave him an air of annoyance at being questioned. In truth he was trying to decide exactly wot to say and how much. He carefully took his tea from the tray, leaving her soup and the other filled tea cup for her consumption. ”I know your father,” he finally reiterated quietly. Wot did she want him to have done? Let her freeze to death on the street? Not an option.
”Eat your soup,” he said instead of wot was going on in his mind. She would definitely need her strength if she was indeed ill. Really, concern flared strongly through him. If she was sick, he couldn’t afford to take her gallivanting about in the cold air. And that led to all sorts of complications that mainly centered around getting a message to Theofilus and getting enough groceries to last her the span of her illness.
