Rai made certain the sparrow was fully covered by blankets and no cool air could slip in to chill the ill child further. When he was certain she was well tucked in, he took the bowl and stretched his neck so he could gently place it on the tray atop the dresser.
The man hesitated then settled himself up on his hooves, dropping his left hip so he could take the weight off of one of his feet. He wouldn't be getting a lot of good deep sleep tonight, but that was okay. As long as the little girl slept well.
The next morning, Rai woke to a fairly major crick in his neck. He stretched out his body and fought the need to groan. His ears flicked up and he quickly checked on the little girl. She hadn't woken up again during the night and he was pleased to see that she was still breathing easily. He stretched again and trotted into the bathroom to zoom through his morning routine.
Revived now, the stallion nabbed the tray and headed back into the kitchen to make them breakfast.

It wasn't until the scent of breakfast made its way into the room that the girl even shifted. Her eyelids fluttered open slowly, and she jumped ever so slightly, wide-eyes scanning the unfamiliar room. The events of the night before came back to her slowly, and she felt her heart ache slightly. She had meet a kind stranger who knew her father, but her illness had finally come back, and...
Ceren was gone.
She got up out of the bed somewhat shakily and wound her way into the kitchen, giving the man a small smile. "That smells amazing, Mr. Rai," the sparrow said in a somewhat soft and strained voice, evidence of her coughing the night before. She stood somewhat uncertainly in the doorway. Would it be rude for her to just go trapaising into the room and sit at the table, as she would do with her own parents? After all of the horse's kindness, she was practically terrified to do anything that might offend him.

Rai was rather pleased that she thought so and the edges of his lips quirked up slightly as he concentrated on keeping the apples from over-cooking. This was a great deal more effort than he usually put into breakfast-- when it was just him, there was no reason to cook and he very rarely stayed with any woman long enough to need to make it-- and he only hoped the little sparrow liked the array of fresh fruits, grains, and breads he had available.
He tilted his head towards the small 2-seater that made up his kitchen table, silently encouraging her to go sit as he carefully took hold of the skillet handle and cautiously tried to flip the apples over. It took him a few tries, but he did eventually manage it.
That left Mori to go to the table herself where a glass of orange juice waited for her. The tea kettle was on the stove again, and it seemed likely that she was going to have to drink some tea. It wouldn't be long before the stallion brought her a plate with some of each food selection, giving her a wide range of choices for her meal.

The little sparrow moved to the offered table, her legs trembling ever-so-slightly as she made her way over, climbing into a chair and looking back towards the stallion, a small smile creeping its way onto her beak. She took a dainty sip at the orange juice, then her eyes widened as he brought the food over to the table, expression one of pleased surprise. He had done so much for her! But there were so many things, and they all looked so delicious... How would she be able to pick what she wanted?
"Mr. Rai! This is amazing! So many things... Thank you so much!" she exclaimed, voice full of a child's honesty. Her voice had a touch of roughness from the night's coughing, but the offered tea would likely help quite a bit with that.
Finally, she realized that she didn't need to decide on one thing - and eagerly set about taking a small portion of everything that he had prepared, feathers fluffing happily as she did. "I don't know how to thank you enough..." she murmured as she sat back, plate full, and started to eat.
So much kindness, and from a stranger... Mori couldn't help but feel at ease with the world, and she looked back at the stallion happily. She'd be going home soon, too.
((we just about done here, you think? <3))

A faint smile briefly quirked his lips and he settled down next to her with a cup of coffee and a small shrug to offset her thanks. "It's nothing," he told her quietly. "Just make sure you eat enough."
And she seemed to be doing just that, he noted with relief and a small sense of pride. Perhaps the food really was all right. He waited until she had eaten her fill and he rose, fetching his things and making sure that he had an extra cloak for her. It shouldn't be too chilly today now that they were venturing out in daylight, but he wasn't going to take any chances after the night they had shared.
He offered her the cloak-- one still many times too large for her-- to wrap up in. "Now, let's go locate your family."
(( Yes, indeedy, m'dear. Whenever you want to jump to that, we can. lol Or even write up the wrap-up post. <33 ))

It would have been hard for Mori not to eat enough. The wide variety of foods was simply too much for the poor girl, and after she had sampled a small bite of everything she had to go back for samples of some. It didn't take long before her belly was swollen and she let out a soft and satsified chirp, smiling shyly up at the green stallion. She just needed to rest for a moment - it wouldn't do her any good to rush herself, especially with a belly as full as hers was! She was clearly feeling quite a bit better this morning, and the haze had gone from her eyes.
She accepted the cloak graciously, keeping close to the adult. She trusted him fully now, and knew that he would take good care of her until she was back in the custody of her parents. After all, hadn't he done an astounding job of it so far?
When they approached the building where her father worked, Mori paused, looking up at the stallion and giving him a small smile. "Mr. Rai..." she said softly, bumping lightly agaisnt his side. "Thank you again for everything. I hope I can see you again someday."
And then she was off, back to her parents, ready to answer the barrage of questions that were sure to come.
