Advertising

So I've been pondering this for a little while and I'm not sure how I feel about it one way or the other.

On the one hand, advertising the board on other active roleplaying boards is spiff. It has the potential to attract new members, of which a few might stay and become active, and that would mean more awesome people to play with and bounce characters off of. This is always win, especially if they already come from a roleplaying community/background.

On the other hand, most of those boards require some sort of return venue for advertisement/affiliation, which either means a separate board for advertisement spamming or a line of links at the bottom of the main page.

What are your thoughts on the matter? I'm sure some of you must be rather opinionated one way or the other.

I say do it, what's the harm and if you need to in turn promote other awesome boards then so be it. What's the big deal in helping out your fellow man And besides you already have a bunch of google ads on the bottom anyway and it's barely noticeable. I don't know, this is just my opinion of it anyway. I don't want however the board to just be covered in ads so really it's up to you.

Yeah, in no way would the board ever be covered in ads. *shudder* I think that would kill my sanity. But on the main page, some link images about the size of the SoDANSA link might not look too bad. At least they're graphical and pretty?

Please keep the input coming. If there are people who hate the idea, say so! If you think it's a good idea, throw that up. Definitely need to know what everybody thinks of it before it happens (or doesn't).

I think either an advertisement board or small links would be fine - noticeable but not overwhelming.

Small links would be dandy. I'm pretty sure I picked a standard button size for SoDANSA so a couple buttons lined up down there wouldn't look too horrible.

Advertising never hurt anyone that I know of.

I think a few buttons don't look bad at all. I find that they look kind of neat down at the bottom of a rp page if they are presented properly. It makes a person look like they've got connections XD

If it works, that's lovely. xD; RPing, from wot i understand, needs to be very carefully advertised in order to even work rather than just take up space at the bottom. We did have on forum that wanted to do a link exchange that turned into something of a battle since the other forum thought it meant that most of our members should go hang out at that other forum rather than our own. >>;; We had quite a bit of 'educated' trolling from those guys for quite awhile and it was a bit of a hassle. *shrugs*

New blood is always welcomed, however. i wonder if there are other ways we can get some good advertising out?

Buttons along the bottom would definitely be fine by me. A whole board to advertising might be a bit much though? That might just be me. XD

Nevertheless, advertising is advertising and if we get some new members out of it that would always be appreciated, think.

I'v been trying to get a friend of mine to make a banner for this site, actually. I wasent sure if you would even use it, but I thought you would think it's neat. If it comes out the way I think it will lol.

As for small advertisements? It really wouldn't bother me that much. There's my opinion on the matter. P:
