A young Coyote stalked the halls, crouching low and avoiding as many eyes as possible. He'd become rather uneasy with himself, unsure of his own stability after he'd bitten one of the servants for giving him a hard time. Hadrian was getting older now, and with his age, did not come the wisdom his mother promised. Here he was, following the same shadow as before. He knew he was nothing but trash to her. How many times had she called him "Club" instead of his own name? He knew the way she looked at him held nothing but contempt... but, God if he didn't like looking at her. He poked his head around a corner and caught a the sight of red hair atop a very tall bipedal form ahead of him. Foolish lust caused a wishful thinking in the sixteen year old boy that overrode any and all logic. Maybe... maybe this time will be different? He looked at the backside of the gorgeous Highlander who was turning around OH CRAP. Swiftly, he sidestepped to behind some gaudy suit of armor decorating the hallway. However, he underestimated the rate at which he had been growing, especially lately. A ridge of thick, bright blue fur betrayed his hiding place over the suit's stand. [Wow, I am so losing confidence in my writing skills.. :/]

Lani was busy explaining to one of the staff who'd asked her in passing how she kept her hair so glossy. The woman had just acquired a mane from a barber in the City that she highly recommended who performed all sorts of services for the right price, which had piqued the canine-mix's interest, and now she wanted to figure out how best to care for her curly mop. That question had descended into a more in-depth discussion on the textures of hair versus fur, the constant battle against fly-away frizz, how humidity could swiftly become one's worst nightmare, and what not to do. By the time they finished with their chattering, the servant realized she'd spent nearly forty-five minutes not working and hastily excused herself, bowing and almost jogging away. "Don't forget that cream-stuff I told you about?" Lani called after her, then turned with the intent of going back to her room and sprucing up before dinner. It never hurt spend an extra few minutes on her hair, especially after she'd just finished giving advice. She would have just gone to tend to her looks if she hadn't caught sight of a distinctive blue fur-crest sticking up over a suit of bipedal vermin ceremonial armor that wasn't nearly tall enough to conceal such a stubbornly vertical hairdo. She paused, one eyebrow raising, then snorted in a less-than-ladylike fashion. Dumb Club. Granted, he wasn't as bad as he used to be when he was a lot younger, but he was annoying in different ways now. At least he'd grown into his name and wasn't just the 'Club kid running around' anymore. "I can see that mess you call your fur over the armor, you know. You're not a widdle puppydog anymore, Hadrian."

He let out a groan as she pointed him out. Ears back and tail low, he poked his head out from behind the armor. The rest of him followed soon after and he sat in the hallway. Mess I call fur? he felt a twinge of anger and shame at the same time as he lifted a paw and put it on top of his head to feel the fur in question. This mohawk seems to have grown at twice the rate the pup himself was. No matter how well Heilyn kept him clean and brushed, his fur was always a mat of unmanageable fluff.
"I, uh..." bashfully he looked down at his own feet as he put his paw down. He felt very, very foolish right now and wanted to just leave.... but couldn't bring himself to. His feet did seem nearly as big, proportion-wise, to the rest of him. As well as vertically, he'd grown to be very bulky. He wasn't quite as tall as his mother's Animal form, but he knew he weighed more, and he was much, much wider.
But he did feel his heart flutter as he realized She called me by my name! He cleared his throat and looked back up at her.
"Yeah, I... guess you did," he could feel himself choke up. No, you idiot! his mind screamed at him, The fact that she called you by your name this time proves that it's different now! I... I actually have a chance... "H-how are you today, Lani?" He felt like an absolute idiot. He vied for her attention.... he ached to touch her... but he couldn't stop acting like an awkward idiot around her. At least his voice didn't crack... yet.

Watching him slink out from behind the armor was cute, especially with how hangdog and bashful he looked at being caught. Lani coughed to hide a laugh and settled on an amused smirk instead. It was a real pity the boy was a Club. He wasn't even full grown yet and his bulk looked promising, muscles starting to fill out to match his father's. He still didn't have much of a chest yet, but she supposed that would come in a few years. He'd gone from a 'cute' puppy to a 'cute' young man.
Shame about his suit, though.
And oh look, he'd worked up the nerve to ask her a question! She tossed her hair back and raised an eyebrow, face as full of expressions as her father's had been blank. "Sweet of you to ask, even with a stutter. I'm great, as usual. And what would you say? D'you think I look as good as I normally do?" She put her hands on her hips and struck a pose, more than happy to tease. He was young enough to make it funny.

NOT. FUNNY.
He felt his chest tighten as.... Oh, Gods, everything! She called him sweet and responded and asked his opinion and that teasing pose.... all just for him!
"I--" he stopped abruptly as his voice cracked in his excitement and the fact that puberty was hitting him like a ton of bricks. He bit the inside of his cheeks, becoming far more humiliated than was necessary. He looked back up at her curving form. So soft and tall, not a strand out of place, well-dressed and well bred. Oh, God, why does she have to wear clothing? he thought, taking in every detail he could without making his eyes bug, wishing to be able to see through the layers she always wore, Of all the bipeds, why her?! That silky red hair, golden wings, unspeakably gorgeous face, the form that showed through her clothes... she would be his vision of perfect if she would only invite him to her bed...
You look... incredible..." he said in a softer tone, "...as always..."

At the eager, aborted response and the cracking voice, Lani smirked and held the pose. What a silly little puppy. He still was just a kid, for all that he'd grown out nicely. Girls made much prettier teenagers than boys, she thought. Lithe and slender on young girls looked good. Awkward and skinny on boys just looked... 'unfinished', sort of. The chest broadening out really was a must.
It was too bad she would probably never find a guy who was taller than she was. She'd inherited some of her daddy's height and stood at an even eight feet tall. It left her towering over anyone in their animal form and usually head-and-shoulders above a lot of others. Some guys found it intimidating. Others thought it was sexy. She preferred the latter.
"Well of course I do," she agreed with a laugh, dropping the pose to brush back some of the hair that had fallen forward again. "Can't say the same for you, but you might get there in a year or three if you keep filling out. Just remember that guys with muscles are sexy beasts." She looked at him, mock-consideringly, and then shook her head sadly. "You haven't even hit the 'appealing beast' level yet, so I think I'm going to talk to someone who has. Later!" Fickle as always, she turned and started walking in the other direction.

[>> Time for the poor little idiot to start his desperate!flailings.]
He watched in fascination as strands of red silk shimmered in the light. The casual motion of her simply throwing some hair behind her shoulder held him captive. His face and tail dropped a little as he was informed of his inadequacy, however. Slight panic began to rise in him. He must truly fail in the looks department for Lani to lose interest in him so fast! A tiny whimper escaped him as she dismissed him and began walking away. He had no idea what to do! Somewhere in his mind he knew it was a bad idea, but after a few minutes of being frozen to the spot, he ran after her.
"W-wait!" he called after her, a touch of his desperation showing through, "Please don't go!" Then he froze again. What would he do with her attention now that he had it? He didn't appeal to her physically, and Gods know she didn't care about the person underneath.

Lani didn't notice the whimper, having already turned her thoughts to something else. Dinner should be good tonight. They were serving roast beef and gravy as the meat, so there was no way she would miss that. Any night with beef was a good night.
She was honestly startled to hear him call out behind her. Pausing, she turned around and gave him yet another dramatic eyebrow-raise. She'd practiced the expression enough in the mirror when she was younger to be able to pull it out on a whim instead of just looking twitchy, which she had for the first few months of trying it out.
There was an almost desperate note to his voice that confused her. What did he want? Had the teenager really been so taken by her little flirt? The thought was an ego-boost, to be sure. Not that she needed any more of those. "Don't go where? You don't even know where I was going, besides away from you. Do you need something?"

YOU MEAN OTHER THAN YOU he thought, but only let out a whimper.
"Well, I uh, you, uh," he stammered. She was so nice to him, and now she's staring down her nose at him! What did he do wrong?! Did he make her mad? She was right in the first part of her statement, though. He didn't know where she was going other than not around him any more.
And what he needed, well, what the thought he needed, he couldn't bring himself to say. He was so very much in lust with her, but so very intimidated at the same time. His mouth just opened and closed in odd jerking motions as if he was trying to say something, but couldn't. Finally he managed to blurt out.
"Can I go with you then?"

Lani watched him gape like a fish out of water, torn between amusement, annoyance, and a faint touch of worry. Was something going on that she didn't know about? She didn't think so, but... he was acting pretty weird. Not that he didn't normally, the silly little Club.
"We~el, since I'm only going to the kitchens to see if I can swipe a bit of dinner early, I guess so. It's not like I'm going anywhere private." She shrugged and resumed walking, assuming that he would follow if he was so interested in going in the first place. She kept talking over her shoulder on that assumption. "You know what they're having for dinner, right? Hell, maybe you can even get me some. It would save me the trouble of cajoling the cooks in the first place. I'd sure appreciate it." She said the last bit in a slightly huskier voice, privately laughing inside her head.
Yeah, she was mean and manipulative sometimes. But if it got her what it wanted... well, it worked, right? And if it didn't, she would just blow him off and go somewhere else.
