She was on an infrequent errand, Rogers, her coworker, had sent her to deliver a package to an unknown part of the city. So the blues and grey skunk moved with her usual unease and caution. She wasn't entirely certain of where she was to go and even less sure of how to go about getting there. So Kelasia was carefully moving through the crowded streets, trying to remember all of the directions and not get trampled by the crush of the other pedestrians. Occasionally a cart would rumble by and the Ranger would have to dart to the side, inevitably confusing her further. Oh, she hated having to do deliveries alone! She didn’t think there would be any convenient rescues today, either; Theofilus, as far as she knew, was still out of town on business. It was a huge loss for her, but, as Rogers had said when she left, ”It’s about time you actually learn the city, girl! Get out there and delivery that package!”. And then he had locked her out of the office. With a sigh, Kel realigned her attention with her current assignment. Leigh Drive –had- to be around here somewhere. It didn’t make sense for the street to just not exist.

His small, sharp nails clinked as he scampered along the streets. His yellow tail pursued after him, allowing him to maneuver more swiftly through the crowds. The reason he hurried so wasn't that he needed to have been somewhere five minutes ago, like many of the Capital’s inhabitants; it was simply that he loathed the crowded feeling of the Capital. As he ran he darted through the other pedestrians’ legs, ducking where needed to prevent his horns from being snagged. Coming to a hectic intersection, he quickly tried to prevent his horns from being caught on a basket someone was carrying, quit unsuccessfully, which caused him to be yanked back and a string of foul curses to be issued in response. He simply Hated the capital. There was no other word for it. Finally freeing himself from his whicker captor he hastily turned into one of the near side alleys, which appeared to be less occupied, in hopes of seeking a moment of sanctuary.

Another spurt of activity through the street, and Kel found herself whirled around and somehow back at a block she’d passed a good ten minutes ago. That tore it, she had to get out of the crowded roadway so she could figure out where she was supposed to be going. A convenient side street offered the protection she needed and the skunk scampered to its sheltering arms with a pleased sigh of relief.
The respite was unfortunately short-lived, however, as she managed to trip over something pointy and soft that made a strange noise that she almost missed entirely as a sharp pain jabbed into her right foreleg. She gave her own soft, yelp, retreating in pain and with a distinct hobble.
Her initial expectation of a child’s toy or stick or something proved immediately incorrect and her pale eyes went round as surprise and remorse fought for supremacy across her pretty features.
”I am so sorry!” she repented instantly. ”Are you alright? Did I hurt you? I didn’t see you! I’m sorry!”

He let out a small squeak, of which he wasn’t proud of in the least, for his kind didn’t make that noise. Untangling himself and backing away from his assailant he regarded her with narrowed eyes. His hands had already begun to glow a pure white as he readied them for defense. He wasn’t going to go down without a fight.
Then her words penetrated his concentration, “. . . I didn’t see you! I’m sorry!”
Taken off guard by her apologies he stared at her all the harder trying to figure out which kind of attack she was initiating. It wasn’t everyday that her variety of words fell on his large ears. After a moment he discovered that her words were, oddly enough, sincere. Easing his stare a little he raised an eyebrow.
It hadn’t escaped his notice that she was now limping, thanks to his horns. He knew they would come in handy one day. It was the only reason he hadn’t bothered to chop or burn them off so far.
“Enough of your ranting, female. If you were so sorry then you wouldn’t have stepped on my so rudely, now would you? Nothing you say now changes your actions in the past. So wot is it that you are going to do about it now?” He didn’t yell his words, but there was definitely a cold tone, which he hoped wasn’t missed on her. She seemed that she was dense enough to be able to.

Kelasia blinked in almost surprise, though her head dropped slightly. It wasn't that she was unused to such treatment; but it had been rare since her move from the Range. More specifically, since she'd left her family behind. In fact, most of those she’d collided with, for it did seem to happen on a fairly regular basis, were more than willing to be kind to her about it. Her tail tucked down and she really wasn't certain on how to reply.
As far as the skunk knew, the mouse had jabbed her in defense for her trip over him; she had no way of knowing that he viewed the attack as a natural occurrence thanks to his horns. Either way, she felt she deserved the wound because, as he had pointed out, she -had- stepped on him, not the other way around.
Nevertheless, she really didn't have anything to -offer-. "Well.... Wot would you like?" she finally asked hesitantly. She had no excuse for being clumsy; her previous encounters –should- have taught her to be more careful, but, no; she evidently had not yet learned the lesson and Kelasia berated herself mentally as she waited for his reply.

As he eyed her he felt a little shift in where others had informed him his heart should be. While her submissive behavior should have pissed him off he didn’t feel ticked. Neither did he feel any other feeling of affection, don’t get him wrong. He would never feel affection for any creature.
Remaining silent for a moment he continued to eye her. “Wot I would like is for you to watch where you are going, especially next time. I have no wish in the near future to become the scum on the bottom of someone’s sole.”
He fell silent again; debating the consequences to the actions he was about to do and hoping to make her nervous. There was something about seeing someone squirm in reaction to him. It must be a size thing.
When he deemed that he had waited long enough, getting his small fix, he finished his speech. “Where were you heading?” He paused for only a second before throwing in with a small grin he knew couldn’t be mistaken with a smile, “Before your goal to kill me?”

Kelasia gave an uneasy nod, flushing and unable to even meet his gaze; she stared at the road between them, unwilling to even glance at the mouse. As far as a berating went, it wasn’t that bad, really. Her mother would have chewed through one of her ears and out the other in just a few sharp, well-chosen words.
His following silence, however, made her nervous and her head bobbed to almost look at him with her pale eyes. Almost, but not quite. She shuffled on dark footpads. Silence, generally, didn’t bother her, but this time it did. She often took solace in silence; it meant she didn’t have to interact with others. However, she didn’t know this creature and she had wronged him.
She blushed deeply again at his quip to her ‘goal’, and she opened her mouth the protest, though no sound came out at first. Finally, still dejected, she answered the question in a soft voice, ”I’m to make a delivery. I got lost…” Yet another failing of the unconfident skunk.

Getting lost, well that was nothing new. The Capital could be a labyrinth to even some of the more seasoned occupants. The problem he faced now was what he was going to do with her information. The simplest answer would be to just leave her without even so much as a farewell. The other response would be to offer some assistance.
It was pretty apparent by looking at her that she was indeed lost; if not at least in the sense of having lost something much more from her treasure chest of a head. She would probably wonder the city aimlessly till she stepped on someone else, and then she would either truly pay for her clumsiness or she would find help. The outcome of the city life seemed to hold true for the former rather then the later in this case.
Heaving a deep sigh to show just how much he was inconvenienced by the situation at hand he thought his actions through once more.
“If you tell me where you are heading I will see wot I can do about giving you directions.”
Might as well get her on her proper way and out of his chance for bodily harm; he so didn’t wish to be squished today, he justified to himself as he awaited her response.

Though he was offering to help her, he didn’t seem very helpful. Well, that wording wasn’t quite accurate. He didn’t have a helpful demeanour. It certainly seemed like the only reason he was going to aid her was to get her out of the area faster. She frowned slightly, but she had no reason to view this reasoning as invalid, even if it were true.
”I’m supposed to find Leigh Drive,” the skunk said softly, her unease evident in her tone as well as body language. Despite Rogers desire to force her to learn more of the city, all the Diamond female was learning thus far was that she still didn’t know her way around. Even after she finally made this delivery, she’d have to make her way back to the office, and she wasn’t in the least certain she’d be able to even do that. It was a depressing realization and Kelasia gave another mental sigh.

“You’re heading to Leigh Drive, huh? Well, I don’t think that you are too far from there. Amazingly enough.” the mouse told her, muttering the last part. “Stay here.” He commanded.
He didn’t bother to look if she had complied or not to his command before turning his attention away. His skimmed the buildings surround them, trying to orient himself. A moment later he scampered to the entrance of the alleyway to double-check on their location. “Just as I thought,” he said before turning his attention back to the skunk.
“Well are you going to come or not? I told you I would help but I am not going to spend all day on the simple task. Pick up your feet clumsy. We need to go this way.” Turning around he scampered out of the alley, making a left, not bothering to look back and see if she was following or not.
