Lucio stopped on the road when the Palace came into view. He had an idea why he was on his way to the Court of Hearts, but now that he was so close, he was starting to get nervous. He had never been to the Palace before. He never really thought there would be a reason to. He was nobody particularly special, and he had no truly outstanding talents. But then again, he never thought he would hear news of Queen Serafino's death. Shaking his head, he looked towards the Palace once more. " At least my new Queen will know I have offered my services...or at least my time" As he stood, looking at his destination, a gentle breeze kicked up and made his cloak flap loosely against his sides. Looking at the garment he he curled his muzzle into a sarcastic smile. " Well, if you run into trouble, ol' boy, at least you can get yourself out of it" he said softly to himself. Though he really was not expecting trouble. That could put quite a kink in his plans to have an audience with The Queen. And the cloak was really all he had in his defense. There -was- the ring of course. He had it in his traveling satchel he had strung across his chest. But that really would not do him any good until he had fingers to put it on. But the cloak could at least get him away. Taking a deep breath, and shaking himself to adjust the cloak back even across his back, he began to pad the final trek towards the Palace. As the gate guards came into view, he quirked a smile to himself " well, I wonder how these guys take unannounced visitors"

Peaches yawned and stretched from her perch in a tree. She raised an eyebrow at the figure that was coming towards the palace. He looked so painfully serious and unprepared. Oh this was going to be fun now, wasn't it? She glanced at the person besides her. They decided to pick the same tree for whatever reason. Well, she imagined they had similar plans. If not, she could simply be her typical cat like self. Scaring the pants off of random strangers was just one of her favorite pass times. If Heilyn didn't want to participate that was up to her. "He has such a serious face. I wonder if he's looking to join the army or the guard." Peaches whispered. She cat-smirked as she looked down at him. She had the sudden urge to yell "death from above" and tackle him. That might be going to far. "So what... should we do with him?"

Heilyn waved her foot idly as she enjoyed the peacefulness of the afternoon. She'd threatened the guards into telling anyone who was looking for her to send them off in another direction so that she could slip back into the Palace and not be surprise-found. She found herself in the same tree as Peaches, which she didn't mind. She rather enjoyed Peaches, as a matter of fact... for the most part. Tinman nibbled on leaves to satisfy his blood sugar needs. "...he's talking to himself," the paranoid Coyote warned quietly. No telling what he'll do. then again... "I'll watch from a distance. If the little crazy over-reacts, then I'll take you to the medic when I've stopped laughing," she smirked.

Padding softly down the last stretch of the cobblestone street leading to the gates of the palace in the shade of the trees, Lucio had not considered looking -up- into them, and therefore had not noticed the two looking down at him. He shook off the feeling that he was being watched, figuring it was a spell to give the guards some forewarning that someone was on their way.
And of course as luck would have it, he picked their tree to pause under, surveying the gates and seeing if he could figure something out without looking like a -complete- imbecile when he arrived. Was there only one gate? Was there a gate for visitors that were unimportant not expected? He suddenly wished there was a line or something he could stand and mill around in to talk to people and get a feel for what he was walking into. Even his trip in to Torquehelm had not made him this nervous. But he had met a lovely friend there so that probably had helped at least a little bit.
"Oh well. Theres nothing for it but to do it" he said as he stretched his wings one last time before folding them comfortably next to his body. He had only seen the one gate, and so that was where he was headed.

"How thoughtful of you," Peaches whispered in her sing-song voice. She would wait until he passed just a bit further before she jumped down to scare the pants off of him. It would be useful if there was a bit of a distraction in the process. "Everyone talks to themselves when they're nervous, some just do it out loud. I wonder...." If her tail had been out it would have been swishing with thought.
"Could you send Tinman down there as a distraction so I can do this properly?" Peaches asked as she carefully shifted so she wouldn't make too much noise. Trees were sometimes difficult to stalk from. At least he wasn't a cat or dog. That probably would have caused a bit of trouble hearing wise or smell. Actually how well did... was he a mix or was that a mutation. Either way she was going to get a good look sometime soon.

Heilyn blinked then looked over at the tove who was still nibbling contently on some leaves. His behavior was improving, but he was still needing a lot of work. She had sent him at people before, usually at that over-hyped son of hers to keep him occupied, so he knew the command. And since she'd only sent him after people she wanted distracted, well...
"Tssk!" was the short, quiet noise she made at the tove to get his attention. He immediately dropped what he was doing and was floating a little too closely to her face. Heilyn pushed him back, then gave the silent command to send him down to the blue figure below them. Tinman shot straight down and dive-bombed Lucio's head. Chirping playfully, he did a few somersaults in the air, then looked at the Card. The odd, gilled tove wiggled when he hovered, then stopped, looking at the Card intently.

Lucio had only made it a couple of feet before something suddenly was swirling around him. Shaking his head and rearing up onto his hind paws with his wings spread, preparing to defend himself, the creature suddenly flitted a couple of feet in front of him and began to cut somersaults in the air.
Lowering himself back down to all fours, he looked carefully back and fourth before focusing once more on the creature that was now hovering about a foot from his face and looking at him. Tilting his head thoughtfully to the side, Lucio looked back at the odd creature. From descriptions he had heard, he guessed this was a Tove, but with some odd mutations. It looked to have gills. And were those flowers growing out of its back?
Shaking his head slightly back and forth in confusion he stared at the strange thing. It did not seem to be aggressive, but merely curious. "Well now, little friend, I don't think I have heard of your kind traveling alone very often. Have you misplaced your master, hmm?"

Peaches waved a hand in thanks before leaping from the tree and landing as skillfully as the cat she was. It wasn't completely silent, but the weasel was being distracted by Tinman.
With all the stealth she could muster she came up behind the man. All she needed to do was scare him half to death. Now there were several ways of going about it. Of course she didn't really want to violate his personal space, but it would be silly just to yell or something like that.
She could try to be cute about it. Actually that was probably the best way to go about it. She sneaked up behind him. She reached out with one hand, pulling the sleeve back with the other, and she tapped him. Or at least she hope she tapped him.
"And who might you be?" She asked quietly. Hopefully he would be cheerful about his friendly greeting.

Still looking at what he was assuming to be a Tove, Lucio did not notice the sound of the girl dropping in behind him. "No I don't guess you could answer me could..."
That was as far as he got before he felt a sudden tap on his back. Chocking on his words, he inhaled sharply while taking a step to the side and spinning around looking for who had sneaked up on him while he was studying the strange creature flitting in the air. Looking back he blinked in surprise to see a human woman standing there. Where on earth had she come from he thought quickly to himself. Bunching his muscles Lucio was preparing to jump and run before he caught the question just passing her lips. Relaxing a bit, he gave her a small bow. Her clothing hid her rank, but considering the Lady had her human form, he was almost certain that she was a Face Card. And considering how close he was the the palace, she very well could be Nobility, in terms of Rank and Title.
Straighting up, he settled back on his haunches to look up at the woman. "Oh. Well I'm Lucio Mi'Lady" he replied. "Might I ask who my surprise visitor is? Or am I in some sort of trouble for not sending word in advance that I would be trying to visit the palace? I'v never been good at keeping up with how things in the political world go."
