A reason to wander [Finished]

Oh how very formal! That was cute. She hadn't met anyone like that for a while. Smirking she said, "No need for such formalities. My name is Peaches. It's perfectly all right that you dropped by unannounced. Why are you here?"

How could she string him along. He couldn't see her rank so she could take advantage of that. Plus she could always drag him around the palace showing him pointless things. She eyed his rank. Was he here to join the army or guard or some such thing? He didn't seem like the maid type, or someone who would stay in the kitchens, and what was with that ring?

"Oh yes, and that little guy is Tinman. He belongs to a friend of mine. She's not around at the moment so he decided to hang around with me." A flat out lie never bothered Peaches. "She has important court matters to attend to."

Dipping his head in another small bow Lucio looked up at the woman "Ah. My pleasure, I'm sure, Peaches." And of course she wanted to know why he was here. Well He knew someone would want to know eventually, especially considering he was trying to talk to The Queen. And he knew why he was here, but it sounded so foolish, even to himself, when he tried to explain it. He inhaled a deep breath, trying to figure out the wording in his head, and then jumped at the chance to stall for a minute more with the introduction to Tinman.

Turning to the creature he nodded his head towards the odd little thing. "Well, hello there Tinman. I hope you are well." And with that, it seemed it was time to answer the Lady.

"Well, err. I'm here because. Um. Well. I guess to put it simply would be to inquire if The Queen needed a roving pair of eyes and ears. I never got to offer my services to Queen Serafino. And though I don't have any really special or outstanding talents, I do, however, wander about the lands a lot. I guess I was thinking that if The Queen had questions about what was going on in a certain area, but did not want to waste resources like spies, or send nobelmen from the courts, I could head in whatever direction that was in question. As much to help my Court, as to have a reason for my ceaseless roaming. But that really sounds silly does it not? Perhaps it would be best for me to just turn back, and not waste any one else's precious time?"

"Well now, Wanderer, wouldn't you cease to wander if you had purpose--such as serving the courts. Wouldn't that make you a spy or some such something to the courts?" Peaches asked the air more than Lucio. She was terribly amused by all of this. I wanderer wanted a purpose and thought that he was expendable.

"Tell me, Lucio, how many places have you been to? Have you been to Torquehelm? Esterberry? Or have you been to places that most people dare not tread such as Tulgey Wood? And do you have to speak to the Queen himself? Would you like to work under any other nobles--or simply him? He's a very busy man and might not be able to see you until you make an appointment--but if you prove worthy you could always spend the night as a guest." She smirked and shifted, brushing her hair out of her face.

How useful was this man?

Lucio listened to her first question and shook his head softly. "No, I really do not think I would. I am not looking for a position in the Court so much as I am just offering my service if it is ever needed. I do not think I would enjoy being bound to a specific job and always have to be in or around the same place until I am sent somewhere else."

He tilted his head as she continued. Oh now this was interesting. It had been awhile since he had found himself being interrogated. Informally or not. If he had his guess, he would peg this woman as some sort of mischief maker in or around the courts. Probably fond of pranks.

"Where have I been? Oh, here and there, you know." He looked up at her and took note of the shading of her eyes and hair before continuing. "Yes. I'v been to your home of Torquehelm. I spent an afternoon in a tree with a lovely canine there once. As for any other places, I'm sure I have passed through most of them at one point or another. Even the ones some may fear, but nothing of note comes to mind about any of them."

"Ah, no I do not suppose that I must speak to The Queen himself, but thought he would he would like to know whom he was summoning, if he ever decided he might like to use me. And I suppose I would not mind doing a favor or two for some of the other Nobles in the Court, if they thought I might prove useful. But I would assume the Queen would have better resources for finding me."

"Yes, I did suppose he would be quite busy. Perhaps I could stay a night or two. Or just go on my way and try my luck next time I pass through the region. I don't suppose it makes much of a difference in the end."

She snorted. How many people had pegged her right off the bat? Many. How else could she play it though? Heh. She closed her eyes and shook her head. "You haven't impressed me yet Mr. Lucio."

She cracked her knuckles through her jacket sleeves. It was more a force of habit than anything else. "If you want to be a roving pair of eyes, where are your eyes willing to go? Which lands will you travel in and which won't you? Please don't dismiss this question, it's important."

Peaches stretched, so she could see Heilyn up in the tree. Would he be useful to her? Peaches did all the spying she needed to by herself, and the Queen used to have an assistant, but didn't seem to need him anymore. Or well... the man had left, but Lucio wasn't looking to do paperwork. Blahblah...blah.

ADD was kicking in. "How would you like to see a Queen rather than the Queen?"

[Shade]

"Well then, dear lady, I suppose it is a good thing I'm not trying to impress you then hmm?"

Lucio had the feeling she was either just playing with him or seeing if she could intimidate him. Either way really made no difference to him. He was not here to impress anyone. More so just letting the palace know he existed. But he would humor the woman for awhile longer before he either requested a room for the night to await an appointment with The Queen, a queen, or whoever would deem fit to see if they might find him useful in the future. Or he would just turn back and continue his journey through life. Prankster or not, she was probably pretty well set in the Court. And he expected he would have to talk to a few people before meeting The Queen, if he ever did.

"My eyes are willing to go anywhere they would be needed. Granted I'd be more cautious entering some lands rather than others, but I'm not unwilling to tread any of the lands. And I hope to attain my biped form soon and acquire a pair of weapons. After that, I'd have far less reservations. I enjoy my traveling, and being afraid to go somewhere would limit the places I could go. I'm not afraid of violence if that is what you are trying to find out. I prefer solving problems without fighting, but I am not above it. And as for seeing another queen, I have mentioned that I would not mind helping any of the Nobility."

Heilyn plucked a leaf from the tree and started chewing on it. It was bitter and extremely grassy, but not too bad. Most Cards, especially of the carnivore variety, would look at the Canine strangely. The leaves would make do for a snack since she was feeling too lazy at the moment to get to where the servants were (Seriously. Too lazy to go tell someone else to go do something.) That, and considering the fact that Bogdwellers will eat just about anything.

She watched the pair quietly, munching on leaves. When Peaches sneaked a look up the tree during a stretch, Heilyn opened her mouth and stuck out her tongue, displaying the mashed up green within, just to see if she could get a reaction.

She listened to Lucio speak. Spent an evening in a tree with a lovely Canine? Why, it was just like Peaches!
....anywhere? With that, she swallowed her delectable leaf snack and leaped down from the tree, landing a few feet away from Peaches.

"Anywhere you say?" she stood up, "How about a land saturated with poisons to the point where some of its citizens have been driven completely mad to the point of loosing their sentience? Meanwhile, your soaking fur is chafing your with toxic mud and will soon turn into infection and the wild animals act as though they are rabid? Meanwhile, the natives, while hospitable, are constantly poking and prodding you for being quite possibly only the second or third foreigner they've ever seen?" Despite the challenge, her expression was perfectly neutral, if not a little bored. It didn't matter what he said. After all, if the court had any business with that region, they would go to her first. She didn't particularly care that she was interrupting their conversation or Peaches' fun. She had her own fun to see to.

Peaches raised an eyebrow at Heilyn's green tongue. She managed not to break out into fits of giggles as she went back to looking at the man in front of her. Not trying to impress her? What if she was a Queen? He wouldn't know considering her rank was covered.

"She has a point," Peaches said with an amused grin. Anyway would Xiven want to deal with someone like this? She didn't have any real connections yet so having someone who was a roaming pair of eyes might be a good idea. After all, Peaches wasn't about to reveal to her daughter that she spied on just about everyone in the palace.

The feline kept quiet as she laced her hands behind her back. Heilyn could amuse herself with this and she could just listen in. Any noble meant Jacks as well. Of course, she wasn't going to point out that she was a Jack with a title.
