A reason to wander [Finished]

So her mother was being sneaky again and spreading wild rumors? Or was she just trying to make fun of the five. Either way she rolled her eyes at the comment. "You're more likely to be set on fire with all of the Hearts around here having fire related abilities."

She nodded at the dinner comment. So she wouldn't have to show him to the kitchen. Now she just needed to figure out what guest rooms were empty. Maybe she would stop one of the servants to help her out. She never was on top of things when it came to guests running around. Normally she was the person that was last to find out.

After fifteen or so minutes she found a good room for him to spend a night in. "It's a little small, but it should be fine. If you have any problems just grab one of the servants and tell them you're my guest."

Lucio chuckled amiably at the quip. "Well, at least I'd go out with a show eh? Maybe someday I'll be able to learn a nifty trick or something."

He continued to pad down the hall behind the Queen, observing the servants and attendants hustling about. There was so much activity. It was almost like being in a small city. It was a very nice place, but he did not think he could ever live here full time. It was just ....too much. He'd soon miss the woods or open fields. But if his luck held out like it had so far, he would be able to come here for more than an ocasional sight seeing trip. That would be very nice. AND they had a kitchen, that was apparently open for the better part of a day. That could be useful as well <_<

He suddenly came back to reality as he was shown a room off of a corridor. It was a good thing he did not want to visit the kitchens now. He would be eternally lost.

Stepping into the room he looked around. It was small, but furnished well enough. "Thank you. This is perfect for me. I'm not used to having very many amenities around me. I would not know what to do with them" he replied with a smile. "I'll see you in the morning or you'll leave word for me then?"

After just meeting, Lucio was not sure if she even had any ideas for him, or was just being polite.

"Please meet me tomorrow in my office. I have a simply request from you, but that can be discussed after a good meal and a good night's sleep. In the morning you can catch as servant and they can show you where my office is. I'll have some breakfast waiting for you," Xiven said. She gave him a nod good-bye before walking down the hallway. She needed to get some paperwork done today or she was going to regret it.

The feline sat behind her desk in the early morning hours scribbling on various forms. She hadn't done all that much work yesterday and had to make it up today. Well, it could be worse. She took a sip of her morning tea and waited for the rest of breakfast to get delivered.

Eventually Lucio was going to wake up and find his way to her office. By that time breakfast would be delivered and everything would be set in motion.

Lucio slowly awoke to the sounds of mismatched patterns of feet walking down the hallway. Standing up quickly, he looked around disoriented before realizing where he was. Shaking his head he tried to clear it of cloudy thoughts and make sense of things. He was in the Hearts Palace. He had met a Queen of Hearts. OH SHOOT! He was supposed to meet her for breakfast in her office. He quickly stretched and ran his paws over his fur, trying to smooth it a bit before nosing the door open and stepping out into the hallway. Right. Find a servant, and get directions to her office.

Looking around, he saw a few Cards walking around. Most in their biped and human forms but none that looked to be wearing the Courts livery. Padding softly down the hall, and trying his best not to act like he was completely lost, he finally spotted someone wearing what he hoped he remembered from last night as the Courts uniform. After asking, he got what were surprisingly simple directions and headed off. After just a couple of minuets he was standing before her door.

Sitting back on his haunches he slowly took three deep breaths to calm himself before standing upright, making sure his wings were folded in nice and tight against his body, and raised a paw to knock as best he could three times against the door and then took a polite step backwards.

"Well, here goes ol' boy" he thought to himself. This could very well be a first step in quite an adventure.

Xiven opened the door once she made it across the room. She ushered the man inside and offered him a seat, his breakfast was laid on a tray for him to eat.

She sat down behind her desk again, taking a long swig of her morning tea. She was going to need a lot of caffeine to get though all this paperwork. "Take your time with your breakfast, I know it's still pretty early so you might as well get comfortable. I'm just going to talk and you can respond once you've finished everything." She said as she set her tea down. Her breakfast was still being prepared since she didn't really like eating in front of other people.

Once he had started his meal she decided to explain. "I need you to be a bit of a rumor police. If you hear anything odd about the court of Hearts please inform me about it. Even if it sounds like something crazy I eventually want to know." She tapped her nail on the tea cup. There wasn't really any more to add.

Lucio nodded his good morning to the Queen when she opened the door, and then followed her into the office where she had breakfast waiting on him. Taking a look around he noticed how nice it was. He was starting to think it might be nice to settle down some time until he saw the stack of paperwork on the desk. Then again, being a wanna be gypsy had it's up sides as well he laughed to himself.

Nosing into his breakfast he quietly tossed down a bite as she started to speak. Rumor police? Yeah, he could do that. And his lifestyle worked out very well for this sort of job.

Licking his muzzle clean he looked back up at the Queen. "Aye, I can do that. Is there any particular area you are curious about at the moment, or would you like me to just keep an ear to the ground where ever I happen to end up?"

"If you would like you could focus Torquehelm and Capital City. But any news is good news I suppose," She said as she polished off her tea. This was turning out to be a fine morning even with paper work looming in the not to distant future. "Feel free to come back whenever you feel the need. I don't stray from the palace too often, and eventually I hope to get some Kings so you wouldn't have to wait to speak to me directly."

Or something like that. She set her cup down and crossed her legs under her desk. Someone knocked on the door briefly before entering with a tray of food. With a boy the sent the tray up for Xiven and quickly hurried out.

The feline grinned down at her meal. A meat, cheese and green pepper omelet with hot sauce on the side was on one plate. Another was filled with hashbrowns. Ah, this was her favorite morning meal. "You can leave whenever you feel the need to, if you want to enjoy breakfast with me, be my guest." She said before digging in.

[Oi. I did not think I'd ever come up with a way to make 150 for this post. Sorry it took so long ]

Nodding, Lucio replied "Ah. That would be well. I once had a very pleasent trip to Torquehelm. It would be kind of nice to go back and poke around for a bit. And of course there is always something to see and here down in Capitol City. And of course if I hear anything about this Court of note, or that could possibly be of note, I'll be back in a blink. Though I'll probably concentrate on the Gardens instead of your personal office if that need ever arises" he said with a slight laugh.

He had just finished talking when there was a knock on the door and a boy came in carrying a tray of food. A tray of very delicious food actually. After the boy had set the tray on the desk and left, the Queen gave him his dismissal, or offered to share breakfast. Lucio considered staying for a bit to talk some more to his new employer, but then considered the timeing of the food. His had already been prepared and waiting on him, while the Queens had not come till a bit later. Using just a bit of logic he decided that she really did not wish to eat in front of him so he bowed to her once more and took his leave.

"Leave word around Capitol City if you should wish to see me again before I return. I generally stop there in between my wanderings" he called over his shoulder as he walked out of the room and nosed the door shut to leave her to her meal and paperwork.

"Very well then. Good luck on your journeys, and I hope everything goes well for you." She said with a smile as she watched the card leave. Hopefully she wouldn't have to leave word for him. Hoping for the best seemed like a relatively good idea.

The feline at her meal in her office, debating what to do with her mountain of paperwork. On the bright side she had made a connection today, and Lucio seemed like he would be terribly useful in his wanderings. Thankfully her mother had dropped him off where she did. Even if Peaches had ADD sometimes, she was pretty good at doing the right thing or finding important information. Xiven wondered what her mother really did besides paperwork and making tea.

Finishing breakfast in silence she waited for someone to pickup the dishes. Then she went back to her normal routine of paperwork. Joy.
