He blinked, considered, and spoke: "My name is Irénée. You may call me Rin. And you are...?"
She was very curious, it would seem, and while usually an enjoyable quality of youth, Rin found it just a tad too presumptuous of her to be asking such direct questions of a complete stranger. Hadn't the child's mother taught her anything about tact? Still, it was said children appreciated honesty above all things.
Polishing off his omelet, he pushed the plate aside and reached for his coffee, "I'm a bodyguard; I protect a gaggle of whores while they pay their respects to the patronage."
It probably wouldn't mean anything to her, but there is was. He wasn't even sure why he was doing it. Such misplaced sentiment. But then, he thought of her and any resistance he might have briefly entertained faded away.

“Rin, huh? Interesting name. My name is Venka, though most people – well most of my siblings anyway - just call me Ven. It is nice to meet you.” she replied in-between bites of her food. She was extremely hungry so in no time her food was gone from the plate and sitting happily in her stomach. It was really nice to have food in the tank.
“A bodyguard? That is really cool! Do you get to beat people up and the like?” she asked, her ears perking up in interest. “Though I have to say, I do not think that I have met a real whore before. Iphis says he wants to be a slut like Mommy when he grows up but I do not think Mommy is one. She just knows how to use men to get what she wants.” She gave a firm nod of her head as she said the last bit. Yes, she wanted to grow up to be just like Mommy.

Rin blinked, feeling his eyes widen just a little bit in disbelief. Just what kind of family did this crazy kid come from? And why had she decided to latch herself onto him? (And how soon could he get rid of her?)
"Well, Ven... How about you tell me where you live so we can go about getting you home? It's rather late and I'm sure your mother is worried." Although, maybe not, considering what he'd gleaned from "Ven" so far. In fact, it might just be better off for the young filly if he dragged her off to the constable. But, then again, he wasn't one to judge what was proper and what wasn't.
Issues of morality always made his head hurt, and he felt the nearly undeniable urge to take to the air and brood.
He shook his head, and waved down the waitress. They needed to be on their way.

“Well we live on 35 and South, in the shady part of the Capital. The left side mind you, those on the right are just a crowd to not be messed with. That’s what Daddy says anyway. I have not been over there yet, though I will go . . . one day. Maybe I can convince one of my older brothers to come. They would surely like the mischief,” she replied with a smirk.
Okay so she had given him the wrong address, though it was not by much. The direction she had given was about a block off from their apartment. Though if he could take her at least that far then she was sure to be able to shake him off and arrive home safe. Mommy had long ago threatened them to never bring strangers home unless they were for experiments, and something made her not want to include the bat in that. He had been kind so far, right?
Getting up she followed him out of the small restaurant. “Well that was a nice meal. Thank you very much, by the way.”

Rin grunted his reply, thinking over the directions the young foal had just given him. So she lived near the warehouse district, did she? It wasn't the most glamorous part of town, to be sure; the slums were crowded and prone to violence. It wasn't at all the kind of place to be raising children.
He scowled, knowing it wasn't his place to be making judgments of that sort, but still feeling bothered by it all the same. He kept walking.
The apartment she lived in was four-stories of chipped brick and boarded-up windows. Rin, on principle, despised it from first gander.
"This is it, then? I suppose you don't need me help from here on out." Still, he hesitated. He had a weakness for children, even if he didn't admit it, and he just didn't feel right letting her gallop off into an unknown situation.

She followed behind him, making sure to keep up. It was nice enough of him to bring her all the way to her home she supposed. Though she did resent it a little, she was pretty sure that there was still more fun to be had out and about rather then with her family.
Oi vay, her family, she swore they were much more trouble then any family should be.
But mommy would be proud that she had completed her quest . . . and she was sure that V needed her help. That boy could do nothing for himself.
When the bat stopped she almost ran into him again. Glancing up at the building before her she repressed a sigh. She was tempted to tell him that this was the wrong building but something that could almost be akin to pity or maybe guilt convinced her not to.
"Yes this is it. I thank you for all your help. You probably have other things to be doing, I suppose?"

Rin nodded absently, keeping vigil on the shadows and trying to decide if he really should let the girl out of his sight. It wasn't wise for her to go without escort, even if this was her building, and he had half a mind to see her to the door. (And just possibly dress down her parents for such obvious neglect of their offspring). The girl obviously wanted to be on her way--and with him gone--and in the end it was nothing more than needless meddling, but he hesitated.
He scratched behind his ear with a wing, and sighed. He had the distinct impression the minute his back was turned the little filly would be off like a shot, off to get herself into more trouble, but there was nothing for it. It just wasn't his business.
"Well, a good night to you, then. Keep out of mischief."

She was pleased to find that he was going to continue to play along. It had been nice of him to buy her food like that. Seeing that he was about to leave it as it was she gave a small wave.
"Yes, Good Night. Thank you again." She replied being the perfect sort of polite. If he did noticed that she had not replied to his comment about keeping out of mischief she would only smile innocently up at him. She was her mother's daughter after all. She was bound to end up in mischief.
She waited till he had walked off and would not notice before she turned to face the road leading to her right. She was not ready to go home just yet. She wanted to explore a little more before she went and surrounded herself around men.
As she walked she wondered who and what she would get into this time.
