Rai gave a low sigh. "As long as you're fine for now, we'll deal with the rest of it later. I'm going to try and run Bernard down again. I'm sure he'll come as soon as he finds out wot has happened." The Queen quickly left then rather than answer all that the canine had said.
The rose was an excellent bet, though, he mused silently as he headed towards Bernard's next usual haunt.

As expected, Bernard came as soon as Rai could explain the situation, as well as taking possession of the guard statue and, from wot Rai understood, began to experiment on the man. One week later, the guard turned back to normal and the King of Hearts let them know about that as well, though, fortunately, by that point Elias wasn't still turning people to glass. The last word Rai heard, Bernard was already looking into some gloves for the Club.
At least the Palace was settling back down, though the servants now seemed even more leery of the Josiggy canine. Rai shook his head as he tried to finish his next stack of paperwork, hopefully without any more surprises, at least for awhile.
