Eli looked saddened by the news, her ears dipping back again as she stood more properly. "Yes, I'm being taken care of very well. Bianca is helping with my grooming... but I hadn't realized you would be gone this week." She was just glad he'd spent so much time with her yesterday, and Chel the day before, so neither of them would go wanting in his absence. He was so good about taking care of the little things like that...
She walked over and lightly brushed her nose against one of his hands, kissing its back, figuring this for a safe gesture. He already seemed to be in a good enough mood with that grin and the wink, so a little simple affection shouldn't bother him at all. "I'll miss you terribly while you're away, Leon," she murmured, looking up at him with large green eyes. She couldn't speak for anyone else, but in her mind, the whole warren was more barren whenever he was gone. "Please be safe."

When she got that saddened looked on his face he entered the room to kneel at her feet. He ignored the Leveret, completely content to disregard her presence as he gave his Doe his full attention.
“Now, now, mon cheri. That is not the look that a Doe is suppose to have on her precious face, now is it?” He chided gently, holding her chin in the crook of his finger to make sure that she looked at him. “And I shall only be gone for a few days. But when I come back I will have a lovely present for you, how about that?” He added trying to get a smile from her.
After having talked to her a few days before he had finally decided on just what it was that he would get for his lovely Doe, now all he needed to do was go out and get it.

The sadness was driven from Eli's mind when he lowered himself to address her more fondly. It would come back to her later, after he was gone and she was left with the dilemma of what to do with herself while her Jack was away, but for now she just scooted a little bit closer to him.
His words brought an inadvertent perk to her ears, not something she had intended but an honest reaction. "Present? What kind of present, Leon?" She couldn't help the open curiosity and hopefulness in her tone. He had... never given her a present before, besides his time and his affections, both of which she treasured. But that he would think to give her something else, something tangible, meant that he valued her. That's what she'd always been told. And really, being valued and treasured and his was all she could ever want.
What could he possibly be getting for her?

Petting one of her paws he gave her a mischievous grin and wink. “Your present is a surprise. Therefore, mon cherie, if I told you what it was that I was getting you then it would no longer be a lovely surprise, now would it?” He replied before giving he a gentle tap on her nose.
After thinking for a while on the idea of jewelry for her that one day in his Study he had come up with lovely designs for both of his Does. They were his first ones after all, so he felt a special fondness for them both and felt the need to claim them in some way. After coming up with designs that would suit both of them he had sent them out to a Leveret to have them made. He had just gotten word that they were done and so he was now heading out to retrieve them.

Eli tried for a pleading expression before she had to shake her head and let out a small, breathy laugh instead. She really wasn't very good at 'putting on' emotions. She felt what she felt, and she felt it strongly. Right now she was curious, excited to see what kind of present he would bring back, a touch depressed that he was going to be leaving... and the first two showed more clearly on her face.
"You're very right, and I'm sorry. You just... caught me by surprise. Which I suppose was exactly what you intended. But I will be eagerly awaiting your return for more than just presents." She looked down at the paw he stroked, silver and dark gray fur broken by the sharp slash of pink. He had called the effect cute and, having seen some other Mid-Range cuts, she would have to agree. She was fortunate that her parents had left it in a more 'decorative' location where it would be easier to see and clean.

He gave another chuckle. "Of course, mon cheri, I understand." His eyes would show that his catching her off guard was something that he had very well planned.
She was such a cute thing to play with, both constantly pleasing in her moods as well as her reactions.
Leaning down he gave her a small endearing kiss on her nose. "You know how much it pleases me that you shall await my return so anxiously. However, mon cheri, you shall just have to be patient." He gave a nod of his head to back of his words.
It definitely would not be gone too long, just long enough to get the task done and then back so he could continue to enjoy his precious Does.
He gave her region's mark another fond stroke before making his way out of the room after saying his parting words.

Eli watched him go with a quiet, dreamy sigh, as infatuated with him as she'd ever been. Others might find her tedious or annoying after a little while, what with her clinging adoration, but she wouldn't know that. It's the way things were supposed to be between Jacks and their Does, wasn't it? She was so young and naive.
The days of his absence stretched on, as they tended to do when he wasn't around to cater to. Even when she'd been a Leveret, she had regretted the 'breathers' that some of her counterparts had adored. She liked having a Jack around to take care of, especially Leon. In the meantime, she busied herself with cleaning up her own space and Leon's. She'd never fully gotten over that habit, and she liked a tidy living space. She would usually get to his bedroom before the Leverets did anyway and it made her feel good to be able to take care of him like that. The others could busy themselves with other things that needed doing. This, at least, she knew how to tend to.
On the day of his return, she was filled with a nervous, excited energy. There was always the small fear that he would find another Doe to become infatuated with on any trip, even when he wasn't planning on it. She didn't take the warnings as seriously as she might, but the worry was still there. Also, the excitement of a present, the first she would ever receive from him, left her almost giddy.

Leon found himself relaxing as he spotted his Warren. While he had not been away long enough to neglect his Does' Need it definitely had been a little longer than he would have liked.
Reaching the door he greeted the Leveret, passing on his cloak and hat. Making quick orders he ordered for food to be brought to his quarters and for Nayeli to be summoned to his rooms.
He had decided on his trip back that he would seek out each of his Does individually and give them their gift then. Since his body was starting to relax from the trip he was more in the mood for Eli's easy nature, then the fun and challenging games with Chel.
Walking into his room he took off his outer jacket as he walked over to the place the two parcels on the dresser. Making his way over to his favorite chair, he pulled at his neck-tie to loosen it, then relaxed to awake his Doe.

Fiddling with some of the linens in her room, Eli hadn't heard Leon's entrance. Her room wasn't too far away from his, though, so by the time the Leveret informed her she had begun to hear some activity in the halls. Her ears were perked and forward, straining hopefully for the sound of his voice. Instead, a Leveret popped their head into her room and told her that she'd been asked for.
That was all she needed. With an excited little squeal, she hopped off of her bed and scurried over to his door, stopping and taking a long breath to calm herself before scratching for permission to enter. He'd called for her, though, so she only waited a moment before opening the door and peeking her head it. It was always her habit to 'check' a room before entering it unless she was with someone else, a remnant from her days as a Leveret. "Leon?" she asked in a small, happy voice, then hoped further into the room.
Oh, he was just so handsome. She could look at him for hours and not get tired of it. He looked a little worn from travel, but it was only normal, and she approached slowly. Her eyes hadn't yet strayed to the parcels in the room. She was too busy drinking him in.
