Kazifel raised an eyebrow at the voice. It was the creepy man wasn't it? He turned his head slightly. Oh god. It was. Why a mage? Why was everyone and their freaking brother a mage? Kazifel sighed as he put Rosemary into her crib. Ha. She couldn't climb out of that if she tried, and thankfully she was starting to get tired.
Now. The task at hand. Deal with the small human mage who had only just seen him as a human at the wedding. Kazifel wasn't sure what to do about this, because no matter what happened it would probably involve being touched.
"Hello again," Kazifel offered weakly. Honestly he just wanted to get away. "What exactly do you want to talk about?" Kazifel said using the nicest voice he could manage. It was difficult when he was very much trying not to think about Vren being a mage.

When you married a Queen with two very magically-minded parents, it would only make sense that their circle of friends would also have similar interests. And hobbies. And lifelong dedications. Right?
Femi motioned for Vren to come in and smiled at him, quite happy to have him in their home. He came by the village proper so rarely, preferring to stay hermited away in his tower. It was honestly a treat to have him over. "Oh please, we'd love to have you over for lunch. You just have to meet the children! They're still babies so hopefully they won't annoy you too much." She giggled and tugged him along behind her, into the bedroom so that he could see their beautiful babies.
The man followed with a tolerant, bemused expression. He was quite used to the girl's excitement over something or other and honestly, he was curious what kind of children she would end up having. As he passed Kazifel, his eyes slid over the man thoughtfully. "We could start with your breathing and move on from there," he said quietly.

Kazifel blinked at the statement, "W-what?" That look was just a bit unnerving and his comment was a bit vague. Kazifel was very aware that he was once a doll, but what exactly did he want to know about the breathing thing? He did it. And.... what else was there?
He changed to his human form. Just, this would be easier to cope with, honestly. "What exactly do you mean by that. Like... how I started breathing or how I'm breathing now?" Kazifel asked as he glanced over the man. He wasn't scary, but neither was Aunt Josephine sometimes. Oh, people. He just was better off not dealing with them.
Kazifel shifted his weight uncomfortably. The looks Vren could give, it was like he was being studied every waking minute. Kazifel never liked the prospect of being someone's project rather than a person. That got him turned into a doll after all.

Vren watched the man change with a scrutinizing gaze, analyzing the motions and seeing if there was anything out of the norm inherent in the action. There didn't seem to be, but most of what went on was internal so he couldn't be sure. That implied that he could take his animal form as well. Or did it? Could he assume?
Leading him over to the cot, Femi smiled and made a 'shh' gesture with her finger, point at the children. Four of the five were asleep, with Rosemary looking woozy enough to fall over soon if she didn't succumb. It was a rare but absolutely precious moment to get them all asleep at the same time. Usually it was an impossibility with so many conflicting Clubs abilities. As they got older, she knew it would only get more tricky.
He looked in at the children and his eyebrows rose in surprise. What had happened to Parsley to make him turn out like that? He'd never heard of a gold and silver Corvie before, and with that long fur and those wings... well, well. And a Highlander in the bunch? He watched Thyme shift and saw that there was indeed no mixing visible to the eye, she'd just gotten that buried bit of Kazifel's heritage. And... what was that?! He stared at Alphonse, at the bat wings and the swirls and fur and... jewelry? Through his wing's membrane?
"You have quite the unique litter," he managed, actually spending a moment to stare at them all instead of paying attention to Kazifel. Then he raised his head to give the man an even more interested look. "And I was more interested in the former, although if the latter is interesting, please do share."

"Yes we do," Kazifel replied. He had no idea how all it was possible either. He thought that he and Femi were pretty normal, but apparently not.
As for his conformation of his original question, Kazifel wasn't sure how to respond. Honestly, from what he could remember... he just did. He started thinking of himself as a person, and Femi was with him. So how exactly could he explain that. "I'm not really sure... it happened after you told me that I needed to think of myself as a person rather than a doll."
And now he was very much a person. He also didn't want to reflect on how horribly miserable he was as a doll. "I don't know how exactly any of it worked. I just know that I'm completely normal and living like this." He shrugged. Really, he wasn't one to try and figure out something this complicated.

Vren looked back at the children again thoughtfully and he reached in to stroke at one of Alphonse's tufts. He'd seen unusual fur growth like this once or twice, though never paired with the silvery effect that seemed to cover both of the children impacted by it. But that was usually the result of...
His eyes widened suddenly and he looked up to stare at Femi. "Femi dear," he began in a very careful voice, "do you remember when you came by my tower just a few months into your pregnancy to see whether I had any of that one specific type of wood you liked so much for your dolls in one of my piles? And you asked me for some juice?"
Femi nodded and smiled. "Yes, I do! I don't know what it was you gave me, but it didn't taste especially good. It was a strange mix. I was thirsty, though, so I drank it all."
The main looked pained. "Did you. Well. I found the juice I poured you several hours later, sitting on the table where I put it for you. It was untouched. I didn't think anything of it at the time because, well, you can be rather easily distracted by things. But one of the concoctions I was working on in my study was missing, and I was quite put out when I wasn't able to find it. Figured I must have left it somewhere completely out of the way."
The squirrel gave him a funny look. "You mean... the glass on the table wasn't the juice?"
He slowly shook his head. "No, dear. The glass on the other table was the juice."

Oh. So he was responsible for the weird then wasn't he? That somehow made Kazifel feel a tad bit better. However, he couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if it negatively impacted the children. Maybe she shouldn't go down that road.
"So you're saying that because of whatever Femi drank the children got all of those unexplainable mutations?" Kazifel asked with a tilt of his head. Maybe that would explain Alphonse being a vampire perhaps?
At least the attention wasn't on him. Not having to think about how he magically became normal and breathing once again was a plus. He knew that the focus would probably change once they established that the children were accidentally effected by whatever Femi had managed to drink. That day had been such a horrible stress for Kazifel. Femi randomly disappearing without a word was like every nightmare he had had of losing the people he loved. After hours of crying they decided that it would be best that if Femi got an urge to disappear that she would leave a note.

Vren looked down at the children once more, still fiddling with the fur. "Well, it would certainly explain the extra length on these two, and the wings on the little dark one. I'm not sure where the silver came from, but it might have been a side-affect of mixing several different potions together. I don't know where the bangle came from, though... that's certainly not my doing. I have no idea how it could be possible for him to be born with that. You'll be lucky if it isn't magical."
Femi listened to him with half an ear, the other half of her wincing at the memory of that day. It had been good... up to the point when she had come home to a miserably sobbing Kazifel who clung to her the second she walked in the door and had apparently thought that she left him forever. Then they made the note agreement. In actual fact, she hadn't been in a different building than him since that occurred. She just didn't feel the need, and she didn't want to upset him like that ever again.

"Well... no I don't think anything could explain how someone was born with a irremovable bracelet," Kazifel shrugged. What else could they determine about the children beyond the fact that they were strange in appearance.
Suddenly Kazifel felt very uncomfortable. If there was nothing more to talk about when it came to the children, that left him as the only subject of interest. He had to come up with a way to avoid this before he felt like he was going to jump out of his skin.
"I'm going to make some tea," He said quietly before making his way to the kitchen. Avoiding people by making tea was a good idea. So what if he had made a pot previously that day, he could stand to make another one if it involved avoiding people. He hummed quietly to himself as he made the preparations. He would just stay in here until everything was done.
