(This may or may not work but the conversation seems to be moving well so they'll be on to a different topic soon i'm sure. no worries love.)
Dilis smiled at Seki. He is terribly polite… Yes, I think we shall become good friends... Ophelia? Oh… dear.. well, she had atleast heard of her. Father had always told her how great of a scientist Ophelia was and if she ever had any genetics questions… well, Ophelia was the one to talk to.
“Well, that wasn’t as terribly complicated as I had imagined. I have heard of your, um, Ophelia before. Father has told me much about her. He says she is very brilliant. She’s part snake- part deer, correct? From the way Father spoke of her, I have always wanted to meet her. You are terribly lucky to be her son.” Dilis couldn’t hide her envy for Seki, she was always interested in the ways of science as well but Father wouldn’t let her make an appointment with Ophelia as he always told her, she was perfect the way she was. She wasn't sure though, she always felt there was a bit more to it.
Dilis twinged slightly at the mention of Silvanus. “Er-yes.. I have heard of Silvanus as well. He’s… an interesting sort of Buck. Father has mentioned him as well. Sometimes I can get him to tell me stories of his younger days, he tells me of the people he's met and what the realms are like and the courts as well.

Seki's ears perked as Dilis mentioned his father and the young male laughed a little. Yes, Ophelia was rather well known for a young Corvistownien who refused to get swallowed up in all that Court business. She was a great woman and Seki was proud of her accomplishments. His own skill would never rival her own, but he was happy with his abilities.
"Yeah, or well... Deer spliced with snake, her genetics would be predominantly deer." His tail flicked slightly in thought. "But the splice was quite successful, her litter with Silvanus showed a great amount of the serpent genetics." He smiled softly at her envy and nodded as she began to speak of her father. "Your Father seems to be quite expansive. Does he know a lot of people?"
Seki was quite curious about the rest of the world. He wanted to visit Avington and see the mysterious and heavily forested place for himself.
(Nat OKed the idea<3 So that was fine.)

Dilis hung onto everything Seki said, she was so interested in this Ophelia woman but... she didn't have a reason to go see her. Ah well, I am happy just listening to stories I suppose "Science is so terribly fascinating, one day I hope to be a great scientist too. Rather than splicing though, I should think my forte would be mutations. Splicing is interesting but mutations still seem to catch my eye... I hope I'm not boring you with all the science talk." Dilis frowned. That was the last thing she had wanted to do.
"Yes, well Father used to go to the City quite a lot so naturally he's met a lot of people. Years ago, he would tell me stories about everyone in town but. He hasn't gone out half as much as he used to. He made a place for himself in one of the rooms of our house so he doesn't need to go to Capital City as much anymore. He mostly goes to meet up with old chums or take me to stores." Dilis smiled at the last statement, she loved when Father would take her to that shop with the handsome young man... She really did need to still get that music box... I hope he hasn't sold it yet... Hatter had warned her about a curse on it but... it still burned in her brain.

Seki smiled as he listened to Dilis. Such a sweet girl, you didn't mind many of those around. She had so many interests, too. In his family and in the world as well. Luckily this walk would just be long, not boring.
"I agree... I might only be half Corvistownien, but with parents like mine?" He laughed aloud. "There's no way I could've escaped without a scientific bone in my body. I just...happen to have more minor interests than most. I like making explosives." He admitted with a faint giggle. "Fireworks and smoke bombs..."
He tilted his head, grinning sheepishly at her as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Ah, I see... part Corvie is he? Sounds like dad, honestly. She's always cooped up in the house, hunched over one of her experiments. You wouldn't believe all the times I'd used to find asleep at her desk."
After a short while of walking he rounded a corner and brought them out onto a well-marked path. It wouldn't take them directly to the Capital quite yet, but it was better than following the deer trails that had helped get her lost in the first place.

Dilis blushed after all her rambling. She hoped it wasn't too much but then she saw him smile at her. I am happy he is patient with me, I would hate to be the cause of his irritation.
"Explosives? That sounds a bit dangerous. I can imagine what kind of trouble you'd get yourself into with those things." Dilis giggled. It was interesting to hear he had a kind of a troublemaker side to him... Oh if father ever found out I've been dallying with people in Capital City... he'd have my hide! "Oh yes, that sounds like Father alright. I'm sure if I went in, I would find quite the same scene. Sometimes when I go in his bedroom to wake him up, he still has pencil stuck to his face." She laughed. She would laugh to herself but she would never tease him about it. Sometimes his temper was that of a petulant child and she never wanted to get him started.
She soon noticed they had come to a path, she hoped it meant they were on their way back to the Capital... though she was enjoying their conversation. Perhaps she would just walk a tad bit slower, to make it last a little longer.

Dilis managed to keep bringing that smile of his back again and again, dancing to his lips with her every word. It was nice, he found, to have someone to just simply walk and talk with. Then again, he had always found women the easiest to get along with.
It was that, however, that got him so many beatings from Rindal: it was insulting to be seen with such a 'womanly' boy, he always said, but Dilis didn't seem to mind and so, for now, Seki wouldn't either.
"Well, a little... Fireworks are, cause they take a good bit of pyrotechnics as well, but I prefer smoke bombs. They're easier to make and they just make noise, really, and smoke of course." Dilis's commentary on her father received a low chuckle from Seki, the young male thinking about Ophelia in such a position. Not that she ever really managed to get all the way to the bedroom on night's like that. Usually she toppled into the couch and just went out like a light there. "We've still got a ways to go," he mentioned as he motioned to the path they were walking. "are you sure you want to go all the way back to town instead of back to Avington?"

Dilis had never had so much fun before, Seki was a pleasure and she was glad he and Mocha rescued her. She'd found it strange that he should stay in her company... it is not proper for a lady to be in the company of a gentleman, but given the circumstances she thought perhaps father wouldn't mind. Though he offered to take her to Avington, she was still paranoid Father would find out.
"Smoke bombs sound delightful, I like the colors fireworks can make however." Dilis was intrigued, oh yes. She really wished Father hadn't forbade all things science from her but she supposed there were ways to get around that. Seki had chuckled at her comment about Father, she was glad. He looked sad when he met her, so she was glad she'd kept him smiling.
"Well... it's like this Seki, I am not allowed to be in the company of a gentleman alone. If we were to go to Avington, I would have to leave you at the border for fear that Father might find out. He's terribly strict about things that might affect my reputation and though it may seem silly, this is one rule I like to uphold. I had just picked Capital City because it seemed safer at the time but I wouldn't mind going to the border to Avington like you had mentioned."
It was probably best to do that anyway as Seki had a better chance at getting lost in Avington than Dilis had. Those who have never been there before, do not tend to find their way as easy.

"That's alright, Dilis. I don't want you getting in trouble on my behalf, but I also don't want you walking back from Capital City in the dark. Better I drop you off at the border."
With that small concern out of the way, Seki allowed a playful smile to slide onto his features. Dilis had mentioned that she preferred fireworks to smoke balls because of the color in fireworks. Well, there was plenty of fun still to be had in the little pseudo-fireworks.
"Smoke bombs are a type of firework, y'know? And it's not all too hard to make the smoke colored, just a matter of the right powdered dyes. They're also easier to carry around than your general brand of sparkling firework..."
He coughed and then reached into the bag he'd been carrying around his waste. The pouch was full of small round objects and a matchbook. He lifted one free and pulled out a match, striking it with an ease of familiarity before lighting the fuse and giving it a toss. It was slightly larger than a cherry and a slender, colored fuse. While in midair, the fuse reached the bomb and their was a momentary pop before the air filled with a brilliant blue smoke.
"See!" He grinned brightly. "That one was blue. I've got all sorts of colors."

Aw, he wanted to make sure she got back safely. Dilis was happy that he was concerned for her, she had walked from Capital City to Avington tons of times and at night she would admit it was a bit scary. There were normally others on the path and she was not entirely sure what they might do to her. As she looked over at Seki, she noticed he had an odd smile on his face. She was just about to ask what he was smiling about when she heard a POP.
Dilis jumped at the sound but was quite pleased by the color that came after. It was a beautiful bright blue and at that moment she couldn't believe what she was missing. "Oh My! That's beautiful Seki! Would you mind terribly showing me the others before we get back? Wow! you're really smart Seki. I am not sure I would know how to do any of this..." Dilis smiled at Seki for what he shared with her. She couldn't wait to research about smoke bombs and fireworks tomorrow in the city. She could ask Father but that might send signals off in his head...
