While Isolde and Kaden ran and jumped and generally did chlidren things. Ophelia double checked the contents of her shopping basket and then moved to check out.
"Two patches isn't bad at all." The doe's tone remained even and scientific, drinking in the knowledge. She would be interested in perhaps meeting this boys mother eventually, but for now she would hold off questions of that sort.
Isolde was determined to make her cookies after all.
"What region is your father? Lowlander as well? Maybe a unseen mix has something to do with the prevention of rot?"
Kaden and Quicksand flinched in unison when Isolde launched herself in their direction. He'd only meant to keep Quicksand from stealing something off the shelves, but the girl quickly changed the name of the game. Her lunge ellicited a challenging sneeze from Quicksand and then he was off across the store floor.
Kaden groaned. Oi! Didn't she know his name was Quicksand for a reason!? The bander's agility was painfully high and catching him once he got moving was damned near impossible.
Accept, of course, that he'd slammed into a corner and instantly he puffed up. Cornered animals were never good. Kaden slid between them abruptly, glomping his pet and grinning as if the little beast wasn't gnawing on his wing.
When he finally disentangled himself from his bander, Ophelia was heading to the door with Isolde at the lead. He nudged Quicksand along with them. "So where do you live, Isolde? Here in Capital? This is one of my favorite places to be, what with all the different people and shops 'n' the like."

Seeing the fight the little bander put up, she giggled at them both. She was glad though that he had opted not to actually jump on him like she had planned... that probably would not have worked out too well for her. She couldn't believe how quick Kaden was with his reflexes. She would have never been able to catch the thing but then again he probably had tons of practice. Oh, he was talking to her. She was kind of glad because the other two were kind of ignoring her. She was used to it from her grandpa but she didn't know this other card very well yet. No matter, soon she would be baking for Tavor!
"Where do I live? Well I live in Corvistowne with my grandparents and Tavor. I do however spend a lot of my time here in the capital so I really should live here" she laughed. "Do you live with family too, Kaden?" she asked suddenly very interested in his home life.

So the rat wasn't lying to him? That was good, he didn't wish to think his dear old mother was liar, after all. Abrasive and easily angered yes, but at least he was truthful. This little fact made a smirk appear on his muzzle, the rat wasn't all that bad after all. Maybe that's why his father seemed to him so much? He still couldn't put the pieces to that specific puzzle together at all.... they were strange but they worked. Whatever, wasn't really his place after all.... and it was somewhat beneficial to him anyway.
Hisstor.
He gave her a simple, straight forward answer before turning his head toward the the other two children and the bander, the pull finally to much for him to continue to ignore. He got back up onto all four paws and trotted smoothly over to where Kaden and Isolde were, tail curled up pleasantly and the tip bouncing slightly with every step.
He glanced briefly at the girl, not entirely impressed with her so far, before turning his attention fully onto the avian as he settled himself in between the two. He peered at Quicksand, intrigue clearly written all over his face, he liked banders very much.

Ophelia, like a good and attentive parent, kept half of her attention fixated on Isolde and Kaden at all times. She didn't know the muttbird very well, but she wasn't about to let something happen to him under her watch whether he be hers or not. The rest of her attention, of course, was focused on Mo.
Hisstor? "Is that so? Very interesting." He showed absolutely nothing of the usual regional representatives. Fascinating indeed. She would have to meet these intriguing parents and find out more about their genetics, or customs in the Hisstor's case.
Before she could ask more, however, Mo had hurried off to play with the other children. Ophelia smiled to herself and contented herself to following the trio as they made their way out of the store and onto the street.
Kaden grinned curiously, beaming at the little girl. "Corvistowne? I live there too! My pops lives there! I move around a lot, though. My mom lives h--..." He paused abruptly as Morpheus moved between them. "Eer?"
The little muttbird tilted his head, his expression full of warm curiosity. "Hmm? Hi!" His gaze drifted to Quicksand and then back to Morpheous. His attention was instantly broken. "Do you like banders? Quicksand is awesome, isn't he?"
Ophelia beckoned for them to follow her out and Kaden blinked, peeking between Isolde and the scientist before beginning to trot out. They could walk and talk, right? He hoped so.

Isolde was about to reply to Kaden when Morpheus trotted over...the tip of his tail bouncing entranced her for a moment. She followed the movement of it and was tempted to bat at it until he had fully come over and was now between her and Kaden. She giggled, Kaden's attention was gone again but that was alright because grandpa was calling for them to follow her. She bounded up to her grandpa and walked with her out of the store. Today was going to be so exciting!
She calculated in her head all the things she needed to do and then the time in which it would take the do each thing. She was pretty good with the whole time management thing, it was something she figured she inherited from her father since Cecilia was always late on her visits to her. Ah well, back to Tavor. She was very proud to be his "sister" and hoped that today would prove it to him.

He was more then happy to steal the other boys attention away from the girl, but even more delighted to become the center of attention. He enjoyed being noticed and the less work he had to put into getting the attention he felt he deserved the better. In short, he was pleased and the s shaped curl of his tail would help display that.
When Kaden asked if he liked banders he gave the mutt bird a toothy grin and nodded slightly.
Indeed! My mother has one... but his isn't as cute as yours.
He ended his sentence with a chipper little trill before flicking his attention briefly to Isolde as she trotted off. They were leaving already? Well now... if no one told him not to follow he'd just 'weasel' his way into whatever it was they were going off to do. There'd been some mention of food, hadn't there? He was certain Osias wouldn't mind if he tagged along with these intriguing strangers.... well, that and the fact that the rat probably hadn't even figured out he was gone. Mother always did get rather involved when he tinkered with those silly concoctions of his.
He went into a rather bouncy little trot after the trio, tail and head held high as he did. Well, at least he wasn't bored anymore.

Ophelia smiled as Isolde joined her, reaching down to pat the little Selkie doe on the head. She could still hear Kaden and Mo as the tagged along behind her, but for the time being she placed her focus in finding the carriage that would get the four of them back to Corvistowne.
Apparently the two boys were capable enough to find their way about and neither seemed overly concerned with a venture to Corvistowne. Just as well, she'd be sure to get them both a carriage home when the cookies were done (it was never any good to leave children wandering unattended in Corvistowne unless they genuinely knew how to defend themselves and, frankly, it wasn't Ophelia's job to determine such things).
Kaden's grin widened considerably, as if the compliment was direct to him and not his bander, and gave Quicksand a little nudge. The little Bander whiffled affectionately -- at least that's how Kaden chose to interpret the little noise it made -- and continued to lumber along.
"Thanks! Quicksand is the best Bander, and the fastest one I've ever seen too." This was, of course, a vast and childish over-exaggeration but this meant nothing to Kaden. Quicksand was the best Bander in Kaden's opinion and nothing would be changing that anytime soon. "What's your mother's bander look like?"
After a few moments of walking, Ophelia was able to flag down a driver going all the way to Corvistowne. Hold the door open, she beckoned the children inside. Once everyone had piled in, Ophelia climbed in at last, paid the driver and settled down.
It would be a long ride, but the children seemed occupied enough for the time being.

Isolde felt safe around her grandparents, and what little affection she normally got... she cherished. She knew she wouldn't be with them long, something had been pulling at her but it was enough that she was there now, right? She smiled to herself and turned to nicer thoughts. For now she would consign herself to thinking of her task and if Tavor would be happy with her. She hopped in the carriage for the ride that normally would take a long time... but it put it in perspective that it would have taken even longer by foot. And then before she knew it, she was there and bounding toward their home. For the moment she didn't care if anyone was following, she just wanted to get things done.
"Ok let's get started! I'll pour all the stuff if one you two boys want to mix it all. Just remember: whoever stirs, get to lick the spoon after!" That probably wasn't going to be a good initiative for them to do it but it was Grandma's rule anyway and who was Isolde to question.

Mother's bander, Sezja is ... kind of scrawny and mean looking. He's orange with little brown socks and a blanket too. He'd be cute if he wasn't so .... very much like mother.
On second thought it was rather amusing how much the bander took after his mother ... they were both under weight, somewhat scruffy and had an awful temper to go with it. Oh! Neither of them were very social either, the thought made him grin as he bit back a laugh. He'd have to tease the rat about that later ... if he remembered of course.
He gave a courteous little nod of the head to Ophelia as she held the door open for him and hopped into the carriage and settled down. He didn't notice how long or short the commute was as he kept him self busy chatting with the trio of at least mildly entertaining strangers. He was a rather social boy and, well .... the spade court just didn't offer him enough opportunities to meet new people and have interesting conversations.
When they arrived he was just a touch disappointed ... he'd been having a rather nice time just talking after all and their arrival meant that would stop, at least for now. He had to try very hard to quell the urge to pout... but he managed to do so in the end.

Ophelia listened as the boys chatted, occasionally adding input of her own but mostly keeping Isolde company.
Kaden, of course, was absolutely absorbed in Mo in the interesting things he had to talk about.
When they arrived, however, he was briefly distracted by the city. He loved it here, it was 'home'. Ophelia was ahead of him, making her way to the door with the overly excited Isolde who just wanted to make Cookies oh so desperately.
All Kaden noticed was the aged Bander that greeted them with a sneeze at the door. For all that his fur was graying, he was still brilliant green in patches and looked quite tough. The way Ophelia ushered him about made it obvious who his own was and, of course, brought him back to a conversation they'd been having back at the beginning of the carriage ride.
"Most banders are like their people," he chirped cheerfully to Mo. "Quicksand is a lot like me too...and my dad's bander..." He paused for a moment, thinking of the mechanical beast. "They're both quirky," he amended and bounced cheerfully into the house after Isolde and Ophelia.
Ophelia closed the door behind them, and managed to keep a pretty tight eye on Quicksand and Absynthe as she helped Isolde begin preparing cookies. The boys would wander over once they were done being distracted, especially when they realized that they'd be getting sweets soon.
At the counter where Isolde began working, Kaden found himself at a bit of a loss. "Wings aren't very good for stirring... and Mum doesn't let me stir things with my feet cause I make messes." He could use his beak, of course, but that would force him to stop talking and he wanted to talk to all these interesting people.
