((OOC: *hugs* Thank you Nat for taking time out of your busy busy schedule. I really appreciate it. -- XD and Yes. Jenn will let Peaches bother Fino after this.)) It really wasn't one of her brightest ideas. However she didn't think to make a proper appointment or anything of the sort. The feline would rather scale the walls of the palace than go through proper channels. She also thought it would be quite funny to randomly show up. Of course she didn't want to run into anyone as she ungracefully climbed through a window. Which, as much cat grace as she seemed to have, was very ungraceful. It didn't help that her boot laces got caught on the windowsill the way they did. It took fifteen or so minutes to untangle herself from the window hook. At least her jacket didn't get caught, but that didn't stop her from falling on her butt when the laces suddenly became untangled. Peaches cursed mentally as she brushed herself off and fixed her skirt. She didn't want too look horrible on her first impression. Which was a lot sooner than she had anticipated. She spun around with a surprised mew when the door clicked open. So much for graceful.

Bernard had been having a rough night. First he had fallen asleep at dinner and that damnable Gaston would not shut up about it, then he had lost one of his experimental subjects...granted it was just a tiny bird but how the cage had gotten open he hadn't the slightest idea. Thoroughly frustrated, he opened the door to his office in the hopes of continuing a few other experiments...perhaps the one potion would have fermented by now? Flipping the switch on the wall that he had employed a local Corvie to install, a string of bulbs lit up the room. To show him a girl, long dark hair blowing in the slight breeze from the open window, standing in an actual puddle of moonlight, staring at him. Bernard was afraid that he had nodded off and fallen into a poorly written romance novel. "Uh...I beg your pardon, my dear..."He said softly, eyes still wide, and having no idea why his voice was staying so calm and soft...grateful but confused. He the whipped his left hand into the air, making a slashing motion and yelling a few words in the Yarrow home tongue. A large column of green light very suddenly encased the intruder, leaving her with barely enough room to mover her arms, the light acting as a hardened wall round her. "But until I know who you are and why you're in my office, I'm afraid you'll have to stay in there."

Peaches wasn't shocked by being "caged in" so to speak. She was just surprised that he was so very calm about it. Did this happen to him often or what? At least he hadn't stopped her from breathing or anything. That would have been a hasty end to her court experience. Or something.
"Eh, well. Not a problem in my book. I'm actually here to get a job in the courts, I just didn't know how to go about it and... uh... yeah. Windows just seem better than door sometimes," Peaches shrugged. She had a horrible smirk on her face. She couldn't help but find this whole situation amusing.
"Sorry. Didn't think anyone would be in here this hour." She sighed, slightly frustrated. She hated being caught, but again it could have easily been worse if someone else had opened the door.
"My name is Peaches, by the way, Your Highness Bernard."

Bernards' left eye twitched.
"You thought the window...would be better...than the door..."
For a few moments all he could do was stare at the girl in disbelief. Was she ill? He gazed surreptitiously at her jacket, wondering if she was really just a Torquehelm (Judging by her hair color) or if she was actually insane.
"Miss, I'm not sure if you understand what a poor choice this was...had you happened to crawl three windows down into Queen Rai's room instead...I can assure you that we would have had to look through dental records to figure out who you were..."
He sighed at her apparent lack of care.
"Miss, I'm going to walk you slowly...in this container down to the conference hall, I'll have Queen Serafino address you there. If you wanted a job in the Courts, my dear... Let me just say that this was not the way to go about it... I-"
He stopped as she introduced herself. Recovering enough to begin moving the column, with her in it down the stairs, but not enough to be able to hold back the question.
"And how is it that you know my name, miss Peaches?"
It wasn't as though he was widely advertised in the Courts. Most people didn't even know he was there until they were sent to him...

Well. Peaches knew better than to climb in three windows down. She had been studying the place for over a year now, and was very aware of whose buttons not to push. Of course he didn't know that and she wasn't about to tell him anything about her being a voyeur. That would just be tad stupid on her part.
Though apparently she had pushed one of the wrong buttons. Damn.
That eye twitch early on wasn't a good sign either.
"I'm not going to lie. I've been planning on getting into courts since I was a little girl, so I spent two years in the Highlands learning all I could about the Court of Hearts. You just have to pay off the right people for information if you really want something." Peaches hoped that lie was good enough for him. "I'm sorry? No one bothered to tell me I wasn't supposed to know your name. Apparently I didn't pay them enough for that information."
She was coming off shadier than she wanted to. Great first impression she was making. Whoops was the only word that came to her mind. Bit late to turn back.
"I... er... this is one hell of a bad start to a night."

Bernard gazed at the girl skeptically.
"Ever since you were a little girl, eh? Well, miss Peaches, this may have been a trick that would have been better appreciated in the Court of Spades rather than the Court of Hearts. I will not throw you out, but your actions will be reviewed by Queen Serafino himself...right now. He will decide whether or not you can stay, if so..then I will take you to a room in the palace. We do have a distinct...lack of Jacks in the palace."
Bernard moved the column of light slowly so that the feline could keep up with him as he made his way down the stairs to the main court room. He knew his nephew would still be there...he also knew that this cat would probably end up in the palace...so long as she learned to stay out of his room, he wouldn't mind so badly but...for crying out loud...interrupting his mind-set.
"It's less of the matter of if you should know my name...than it is the certainty with which you say it. If it is your passion to know things you should not miss Peaches, then one of the first lessons you'll need, it when not to share that information."
He had finally come to a large pair of double doors, pushing them open and entering the hall, deserted except for two guards...and his nephew.
"Serafino," He said, unable to help the smile at his nephew's perplexed look. "I found this woman climbing none too carefully into my room, via my window... She wishes to join the Courts and...while I'm fairly certain of what you'll say once you've talked to her, it is still necessary to run her by you first. Send for me again if there's an issue, but I have a problem I must attend to, my apologies, my Queen."
He gave a slight bow, waiting for his nephew's nod, then released the girl from her prison. Turning, he walked away.
Cats... His mind muttered. Why were they always Cats?

Serafino looked up from the scroll in his hands, eyebrow raising at his uncle as he entered with a... moving column of light behind him. The other eyebrow raised when he noticed there was a person inside of it, a young woman from the looks of it, one with her human and exceptionally long hair. He'd only seen Bernard use that spell a handful of times before and it was always to restrain. "She came in... through your window," he restated unnecessarily, just wanting to make sure he had heard that bit correctly. "That's certainly a different way of asking for an invite. She's lucky she didn't come in mine. Or Shinrai's. Or Pravus's. Honestly, how stupid..." Shaking his head, he carefully re-rolled the scroll and placed it to the side with several others beside his seat. "Yes, I'll speak with her. Thank you, Uncle."He stood and slowly walked towards the woman, stopping several paces away and eyeing her. Purple hair, restricting straitjacket, probably from Torquehelm. "Can I help you?" he said eloquently.

People were so nice here she just didn't know what to do with herself. At least he wasn't going to throw her out. Peaches refrained from rolling her eyes and simply remained quiet about her obvious stupidity. Royals did love to make people feel small without realizing it, didn't they? Oh well. She knew things they didn't. That was good enough for her.
The "miss" thing was getting to her though. She was slightly relieved when when Bernard made his exit. The barrier didn't quite matter to her, she wasn't one to move her hand's much anyway. Then again, she was faced with The Queen of Hearts who had indirectly called her stupid. Fantastic.
She gave a proper bow before speaking. If she couldn't quite pull off a proper curtsy in a short skirt and knee high boots. "Your Majesty... I would like to apologize for my lack of judgment. I tend to get a tiny bit idiotic when I'm excitable." She was being truthful for once. Peaches hesitated before introducing herself. "My name is Peaches. I happen to a Jack seeking employment. If your Majesty could forgive me for being an idiot that is."

Fino did, in fact, enjoy making people feel small around him. In this case, he didn't notice, but in others he most certainly did. At least this girl had enough presence of mind to bow to him properly before saying anything, else he would have had an even lower opinion. Sneaking in his uncle's window... she was incredibly lucky it was Bernard rather than anyone else if she valued her hide, which he had to assume that she did.
"So long as you realize it, I suppose I can ignore the idiocy until it rears its head again," he said idly, listening to her introduction. Peaches. What a name. "After all, this is a Court. There are plenty of idiots here. I can only hope that not many of the titled nobility fall into that category. So tell me then... Peaches. What are your skills? Why do you think that you are suited to employment here? Many people regard it as an incredibly strict and confining atmosphere. Judging by your excitability, it may or may not be the place for you."

That was comforting. Not really. It just made her feel a tad bit worse on the "stupid" level. Rubbing in it just seemed natural for royalty.
"Information is my specialty, Your Majesty." Peaches brought her hands together as she spoke. She needed to work through this without sounding like a stalker or a psychopathic maniac. "From approximately a the age of sixteen I have been asked to do specific jobs that require gathering information that general public such as myself shouldn't be privileged to. I've never failed to get the information that I've been told to. To get here I spent two years in the Highlands to develop various connections for my information gathering. Beyond gathering information, I'm good at making tea, organizing paperwork, and being enthusiastic about whatever I do."
Was that good enough or did that just sound creepy? Being this self aware was difficult. Her jacketed hands returned to her sides. "I could easily inform you of any unwanted information leaks concerning current staff members in the Courts. Despite my amazing moment of complete and utter stupidity, when it comes to my talent I am confident in my ability."
