Before Daegmund could answer Ira, and he'd said something about someone else, and Eir couldn't be the hybrid boy because Ira didn't seem to be referring to him at all, said mix boy proceeded to fling his - brother? - to the ground finally. What followed was a fight that wouldn't have looked at all out of place in a cartoon, with clouds of dust being flung around and the occasional glimpse of a body part here and there before it was yanked back into the fight.
Daugmund decided to take the wisest option and stay out of the whole thing, and just watch the pair as they pummled the hell out of each other. He didn't leave though, because really, his shift was almost over, and he didn't have anyone in particular to relieve him - they just headed out from the Guard Hall for this particular patrol, because if anyone took out a guard who was in the middle of nowhere at all important, than it didn't matter so much - and he wasn't sure he wanted to see what would happen if he left the Jacks behind without a word. Especially that odd blue equine.
Finally things calmed down again, and the positions were much the same as they'd started off in, if with the addition of the both of them now looking a bit the worse for wear. And Ira was asking the odd questions again.
"I don't believe there would be any around here, si- Ira. You might wish to head to the Royal Dungeon to see if they're...done with anyone?" Where would there be corpses around the Court? He...really didn't know.

"That would normally be an excellent idea," Ira replied easily, evidently not in the least bit concerned or distraught by their conversation. "Unfortunately, we don't need the bodies down in the Dungeon. We're looking for ones that are littering the Palace." Everything was announced almost matter-of-factly; he wasn't trying to shock the man or even, ironically or not, cause trouble. He was, perhaps sadly, simply being himself.
"Who cares wot Eir's doing?" Se growled from beneath the horse tail. He did not, however, try to get up yet. "I'm going." Still, the hybrid didn't move; he seemed to be waiting for Ira to get off of him.
The green tail flipped up and down, batting the yellow face a few times. "We care," Ira sang-songed the words lightly. "Because we're going to get in trouble for wotever he does. See the logic, Sese?"
"Don't call me Sese!" the winged hybrid snarled again. Ira simply chuckled from atop his perch.

[ooc: Whee! We're blazing through the RP. *is not usually this active, and is surprised at herself for it*]
...well, that was another thing altogether. It was really rather difficult for the mouse not to stare long and hard at the pair in horrified fascination, because really, what were they talking about? Bodies that were littering the Palace? If there really were such things, he imagined that the Guard would be the ones to pick them up (and whenever some nobles got into fights where one participant ended up dead, they did pick them up), but he hadn't heard about any dead bodies recently.
None that hadn't come from the dungeon, anyway.
Suffice to say that the mouse was horribly, terribly confused as to what was going on, but then again, locking oneself away to train almost constantly did mean that he was rather out of touch with the who's-who of the Courts. Were Ira, the so-called Eir, and "Sese" important figures of some sort, then he...really didn't know.
"I don't believe that there are bodies littering the Palace," he finally managed, rather disconcerted with the whole thing. "Why would there be?"

"Really?" Ira exclaimed, pleasure lighting his voice. "That is excellent. If bodies aren't littering the Palace then that means there's still time to find him! Quickly, Daegmund! Away!"
The equine sprang up from his brother's back, circling the mouse once before grabbing one of his brother's wings in his teeth and began tugging the hybrid to follow him down the hallway.
Se growled again, this one more in warning than from pain, but he obviously wasn't fighting his older brother anymore. Perhaps the argument of where blame would fall meant something very important to the younger boy. Or perhaps he was just tired of fighting.
Either way, Ira had not answered the 'why' of the issue of dead bodies and it seemed unlikely that Se would, even if directly asked. The hybrid had an air of conceit and, though Daegmund could not know this, it wasn't something he simply directed at lower Cards. He had it on for everyone.
(( hee. Well, i'm glad you are. xD The boys crack me up. ))

So apparently they knew some kind of mass murderer, and were attempting to prevent him from killing people in the Palace...or something like that. How someone could be so cavalier about bodies- wait, no. This was the Court of Hearts. People were always cavalier about bodies and death, because this was the Court of Battle, and people tended to die all of the time. But still.
"Ah, don't you think we should stop by the Guard House? If nothing else, I really should report in, and we might be able to prevent...whatever it is that you're attempting to prevent. Or at least get more people to help find this person," he said softly, though he gamely trotted after the two boys.
How Ira could continue to treat "Sese" (and what was the hybrid boy's name, anyway?) so harshly all the time was something else that the spiked mouse didn't quite understand, though he imagined that it had to do with the attitude that the both of them touted around as if they were born to it (and they no doubt were).

"That's a big negative, Daeg-o," Ira spat out Se's wing abruptly so he could respond. "Unless you want to sign the death warrants of however many guards come with us. I doubt you'll be missed anyway. The Guardhouse was chaotic when we went by." That certainly couldn't bode well. No hint as to whether or not it was -their- fault that the Guardhouse was in chaos.
"He deserved it," Se snapped flatly. Okay, perhaps there -was- a hint about who had caused the problem.
"I'm not saying he didn't," Ira soothed as one would a recalcitrant child. Se bared his teeth at his brother, but didn't attack again. Fortunately. "I do suggest that perhaps prudence would have been the better decision. -Your- way involved us being split up, thus our present predicament. -My- way involved no one knowing any better and still a good resolution."
Se snorted, but did not respond.

The Sorgaire mouse felt his blood go cold at the news that the equine had so calmly dispensed, his ears flicking backward momentarily at the thought of other guards being killed just for coming with them. He already knew that he himself was disposable - hadn't he just been thinking that, right before the pair had arrived to throw his route to hell and back? But there were others of the Guard who were far more important than he, and while he knew many idiots who really didn't have much of a point in life, there were others who did, and he wanted to make sure that they stayed safe.
"...what sort of things should I be on the lookout for, other than random dead bodies lying around?" he finally asked softly, because he really didn't think that they were even going to let him head back to the Guardhouse to report in, even if he promised not to reveal them. His rank as a guard - even if he was just a Six - might mean that he could bring that rank to bear in an emergency. He didn't know just how effective it would be, but it might be useful.
"And please, call me Daegmund," he added after a few seconds of reflection. The mouse had no clue if Ira would respect that request, but he felt that he needed to make it anyway.

Ira didn't seem to hear the mouse's request, he had already begun to list off items better found in a horror novel. "Oh, let's see. . . Large splatters of blood are a big sign. Unattached limbs, would be something to watch for. Teeth, eyeballs, organs that are usually found within someone and not on the floor. . . " His list could probably have gone on and on.
"Do you hear screams?" Se asked, yellow ears tilting up and forward in a sudden motion.
"Screams are a good thing to listen for, yes," the teal equine answered affably as his own triangular ears came up to listen. If there had been screams, however, they were over now. Still, Ira seemed unconcerned as did his brother. "Well, let's try going that direction. Towards the screams, Guardsman!"
The colt trotted a sudden circle around the mouse, then began to herd him in the appropriate direction. Despite his obvious disinterest in the whole thing, Se trailed along behind them.

Well, Guardsman was better than "Daeg-o," at least. Though the list of things they prattled off was enough to make his blood run cold, and he really did hope that they managed to find and subdue whoever it was that they were hoping to find and subdue before any of that became a reality. To see his comrades in such straits would be...terrible. He wasn't too terribly fond of any of them in particular, but he did like them, and they were all rather useful at times. There was also the bond that held together all of the Palace Guard, in that they were part of a whole, part of a tradition that stretched back as far as there had been a Palace to Guard.
His large ears flicked forward at the mention of screams, but he didn't hear anything, and so trusted in their judgement. When Ira circled in front of him suddenly and then gave him a few hints about which direction to go, he stretched his short legs as far as they could go to pick up the pace, though obviously he wouldn't be able to keep up with the equine were he to go full speed. Horses were made for running - mice weren't, not really.
He just wondered what the hell was going on, though there didn't really seem to be any point in actually asking the question. It wasn't like he was going to get an answer.
