(( OOC: >_>; Excuse the crappiness of the title, I steal song lyrics.)) Conway swore to himself as he sat on the steps of an apartment complex. He had been completely and utterly at a loss. He held up the paper and squinted at the instructions. What was wrong with people? How hard was it to keep your hand writing neat when you wanted someone to follow your instructions. "This is impossible," he said finally after fifteen minutes of turning the paper this way and that. The writing was far too scribbled for him to read. Maybe he was just being over critical about the entire thing? Maybe it was the stress of pretending seeping into everything he did? It was a lot of things. Shaking his head he leaned forward to bury his face in his hands and scream. Why couldn't anything go right? Urgh. Maybe he should visit June sometime soon? That might clear his head.... but he was avoiding her for a reason. He shoved that worry down. He didn't need to add to his pile. Crap. Where was he anyway? These directions had gotten him thoroughly lost.

She shifted her position, aiming to become more comfortable even as it might be a frail attempt as she was currently perched on the stone steps that lead up to one of the abandoned apartments that graced this section of the Capital. As she shifted first, her right and then her left, the book rested precariously on the knees rocked with the motion. Having become more comfortable she rolled her shoulders to relieve some of the tension in her back. Through all of this her eyes were never impeded from their task. Giving a soft "Hmm", she quickly set to the task of flipping the page to see what the book had to offer her next in its information. The only reason that she could explain for the stranger being brought to her attention would be due to the relative quietness that surrounded the street. Most of these buildings being of an older origin and abandoned there was not much traffic. Though, occasionally you got a curious kid who was attempting to use one of the buildings as a club house or the like. It was the almost eerie in quality to the air, it was something that she enjoyed. Having heard the soft rattling noise she looked up, blinking a few times to bring the world into focus after having narrowed it to the book for too long. Having lived been brought up on the edge of the shifty part of town - something she was not quite sure of why - it was quickly ingrained to protect pockets from would-be thieves. Spotting the stranger, she sat there not moving as she watched him. Being more of an observer she noticed that he moved in a manner that was . . . 'off'. Maybe he had escaped from the mental facility? Though, she reminded herself, that could not be too accurate since the last escapee had been over twenty years ago and they had heightened their security after he had been recaptured - after frightening a few years off a couple of kids on their way home from school. Not sure what to do or make of the situation and strange she sat there, hoping the time of day would work in her favor.

He took deep breaths as he tried to think things through. There was no point in panicking. He could easily work his way through this if he kept calm. Sitting back up properly he looked at the piece of paper again. The writing had been smudged in all of his flailing.
Conway let out a rather depressed sigh as he crumpled the paper up and shoved it in his pocket. Another chance at a "real" job and he managed to screw it up. Shaking his head he decided that it might be a good idea to lay down.
He swung his legs onto the step, and slowly lowered himself onto his back. He had to be careful not to crush his spine and cause unnecessary pain. Sometimes it caused more trouble than it was worth.
At least the sky was pretty. "Yeah, that's probably because the sky doesn't care if I screw up," he said to himself, since there was no one else to talk to.

Khloris became only more confused as she watched him and his actions. There seemed to be something that was upsetting him, gathered by his agitated actions and the paper that he roughly crumpled before shoving it into his pocket.
Maybe he was lost?
If it had been her Uncle Iphis in her shoes he, much to his boyfriend's disgust and outrage, would have probably gone straight over and asked the poor man if he needed help or offered to give him a free meal while he was at it. And, knowing her Uncle, since he was not all that bad a looker, Iphis probably would have asked the man if he wanted a job modeling some of his newest clothing designs.
She, as much as she loved her dear crazy Uncle, was not him and so she sat there just watching. When he proceeded to lay down where he was sitting she found herself thinking that he did not seem all that harmless. Not that she would want to under judge anyone around here.
Closing her book after checking and making a mental note of what page she had been on, she shifted closer on her set of steps to the human form.

Conway heard a sound and jumped a bit because of it. Slowly he sat up, and looked around for the source of the sound. At first he saw nothing when he made a quick glance, but when he made his second sweep he caught sight of something.
To the house on the left there was someone or something sitting there and watching him. He thought. Or maybe he was just going absolutely crazy? Conway bit his lower lip as he stared back at who or whatever it was that was looking at him.
Wow, he must have been out of it to completely miss something that important. He shifted again uncomfortably, living his right hand briefly to wave at whoever it was. He could feel the slight tinge of embarrassment in the form of a blush creeping across his face.
Well at the very least they hadn't heard him talk to himself?
If they were really there....?

In return she jumped herself.
Huddling into herself a little she watched the man with wary eyes. Now would probably be a good time to run if it was going to happen. Though she probably knew that it would be a good idea to do so, something held her back. An interest of sorts.
Even though her family had never treated her different or strange - well, as if she was any more different or stranger than her siblings - those around them had. Just enough to make her leery around new people till she knew how they would react.
When he gave his small, bashful wave she could not help but at that moment like him. Giving a small tentative smile of her own, she raised a paw to give a return greeting wave. Working up the courage she scooted closer to him, very self aware that he was still a stranger and that she did not know how he would react.

Conway blinked. So she was real? At least he hoped she was, the wave made things a bit better. Confidence wise. He shifted a bit, trying to prop his back up against the railing properly.
Maybe he could talk to the person? He couldn't really tell what rank they were from here... since they were somewhat see through. That... was really weird. But then again what normal person would be in a place like this?
"Er... Hi?" Conway offered. He felt a bit silly, but it was something. Someone. They didn't look like they could hurt him either. It was only a child... or a very small Card to begin with. Either way, she was far enough away that he could bolt if he really needed to.
He could feel the blush continue to spread on his face. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that anyone else was around here. I just got a little lost and decided to take a rest."

"Hi there." She returned, feeling somewhat lame for not knowing what else to say, though she did her best to give a small smile in return.
She had just about summoned up the courage to strike more of a conversation with the stranger when he spoke first. "Oh! No, no." She waved one hand back and forth, to back up the need for him to not worry."It is not private property or anything so please do not feel that you have intruded." After all there was enough space for the two of them on the otherwise deserted street.
"You are lost?" She tilted her head to the side. It only took a moment for her to consider her next action. "Is there anything I could do to help?" Her parents had taught her that it was important to help others.

Conway felt a little safer, and a little less like an idiot with her comment. He took a sigh of relief as he gave the girl a weak smile. "You can never be too careful I suppose," he said as he shifted so he could fiddle with his bracelet as she spoke.
Were his eyes playing tricks on him? Part of his said no, but normally people weren't see through. Or so he was inclined to think. Either way she seemed to be and that was just the matter of how things were.
"Yeah, I'm lost. The person who gave me directions didn't write them clear enough, and I can barely read them." He said with a small shrug. "Now I'm without a place to go."
Which wasn't entirely awful. He never really seemed to have a purpose in his life... as depressing as that sounded. He shrugged it off. It was just the way things were.

She guessed that was true enough.
At his explanation about the poorly written directions, her ears dropped back sadly. He was lost? She supposed that that explain a lot, at least in her mind it did. Not people many were to the nature of simply hanging out in this area after all.
Considering what he had said, focusing on the way he he had said it - one particular thing - it snagged her attention and sparked his interest. "Now I'm without a place to go." That was an odd way of speaking. Not, he did not know where he was going, but rather he had not place to go.
"Do you remember where it was that you started off from, or happen know where it was that you had been heading?" If one was lost they should start by figuring out where it was that they last knew they were.
