Conway didn't realize what he had said until she asked the question. His blush returned, more vivid than before. He opened his mouth once, no sound coming out.
He pretty much had just implied that he was homeless, and she thankfully didn't completely pick up on it. Argh. That was just... he shook it off as best he could, clearing his throat.
"I know where I started. It's not that far away." He said, clearing his throat again out of nerves. "I just suppose it's not a place I want to be right now. I'm not really fond of staying in places when I don't have to be... and resting here would be a change. A fun and interesting change."
He shrugged. "I think I'm rambling a bit."
He felt like a bit of an idiot, thank goodness she was a stranger. Or... did that make it worse?

All she could think was that the man was adorable. Not necessarily in that puppy-childlike way that most thought of, but there was definitely some quality to him that had her finding she wanted to hang out with him more.
She tilted her head to the side as she gave a small puzzled look down toward the book that rested in her lap. "So you started out somewhere not far from here," And that could be almost anywhere probably. "And now you are here with no real thought of necessarily staying." She looked back toward where he was sitting."So that makes you something of a wanderer?" she asked aloud though it might not have necessarily been aimed directly at him.
She was not sure if that was the right word she was seeking out to describe him but so far it seemed accurate. It was something about him that she admired. Since she was little, since she had been born different, wandering had been something that teased at her mind. She had plans and goals for her future and just staying here all her life was not going to reach them.

"Wanderer is a nice term for it. Most people call me a vagabond." That was the blunt way of putting it he supposed. He was homeless, looked like trash most of the time, and hardly had a place he could call home. Vagabond was actually the perfect word.
He shrugged, "It's the only way I know how to live I suppose. The job was just an excuse, I guess for me to pretend to play normal for a little while. I would have just got bored and moved on in a few months, if that."
"And what about you? I don't see many see through people running around reading books in this part of an abandoned neighborhood." Conway said as he shifted once again to get a bit more comfortable. His spine really just wouldn't sit right.
At least... this girl seemed nice. He hadn't had a nice conversation like this in a while.

She gave him a fond smile. "You know, I do not believe that I can say I have ever had the pleasure of meeting a vagabond before." At his comment about 'pretending to be normal' her ears perked up.
Though both of her parents had loved her the same as they had all her other siblings, there had always been everyone else. More intrigued by this new stranger she scooted a little closer but was brought up short by his question.
See through? Puzzled by the small jump in topic she furrowed her brow as she tried to figure it out. Glancing down at herself she suddenly got an inkling and a quick glance toward the sky confirmed it.
Giving a small blush she replied meekly, "Oh . . . that" She cleared her throat. This was the part where if people had not already taken her for 'strange' they were about to. "It is part of my . . . powers, I guess? Mama thinks it is due to the plants," she motioned toward the leafs on her head, "but I think it has more to do with my being 'special'."

Was it really a pleasure meeting a vagabond? Conway couldn't help but wonder about the statement as he eyed the girl. She was a Corvie... that could account for the strange? Then again she was a different level of strange. She was nice, too.
He raised an eyebrow, if she understood what that meant or not, he wasn't sure. "I don't think a plant can make you see though, but I'm not particularly smart when it comes to things like that. I've never heard of such a thing though...."
Powers? What rank was she anyway? He couldn't really tell from here, not to mention the see through thing. It didn't really matter, did it? He was curious though so he might as well... ask. "Being special? As in you were born with something or do you mean a Jack power or something." He slipped his bracelet on and off out of nervous habit as he spoke. It had been a while since he was this cordial with a stranger.

"I guess you could be right . . . My mama and one of my sisters also has these plants. Though there's is more like vines with leaves rather than just these leaves, but neither of them seem to have the same . . . effect." She pulled her arms wide and glanced down at herself again.
It really was quite fun and interesting when one thought about it. Or so she thought. Well Thid too. He found her limited amount of powers to be something exciting and cool. Though it did not take much to entertain the fanged deer with wings.
"Mama tells me I should not tell strangers, so I guess it is a little of both, I suppose. Something born both with and without as well as a power? I am not completely sure, myself, so your guess on the matter might be just as accurate."

Conway raised an eyebrow, completely unsure of what to think. The way she was talking it was almost like... but that was impossible, wasn't it? There really couldn't... could there? He mentally shook it off. There was no way, and he was just being paranoid.
"I've never heard of someone being covered in plants. Your family must be pretty special..." Conway's thoughts lingered on the word family. He was jealous. He wanted to have a happy family again... though he knew better than that. No one could properly love him, and if they did he would just end up watching them get hurt.
He was curious to know her name... but he couldn't offer his up, could he? Well, perhaps he could. She was just a child. "My name's... Conway. It's nice to meet you." He gave her the best smile he could manage.

She gave a small giggle at his comment. 'Special' did not really even start to explain it. "Oh you should see my other siblings and mama's family if you think that these are strange. I have one uncle who has feelers and wings while he is a canine!" She gave a firm nod before tilting her head to the side slightly she tried to puff some air up to make them move.
Growing bored with it pretty quickly she glanced down at her book. When he started to talk again she turned to look at him. "It is a pleasure to meet you Conway," she returned the smile, hers being less hesitant. "My parents named me Khloris." She offered up in return. It was only fair after he had given hers, right?
There was probably little wonder to where her parents had gotten the name from, being obvious enough in its nature.

A family? Conway could feel that familiar knot forming in his stomach. He missed having a family... maybe he should go back to the Waste. It was nicer there. Less staring. Less doubting. But then again he could put one of the few people he cared about in danger.
He brushed the feelings aside. The girl had a strange family. that was interesting. Who on earth would have plants growing out of them and think it was normal? Either was it was a bit comforting that he wasn't the strangest person out there.
"Cute name. I can only guess why they gave it to you," He said with a chuckle. He lifted his hand to brush through his hair nervously. The rattling of his spine followed, as there was no other sound coming from his person. He couldn't help but wonder if she would notice his lack of shadow in the light. "Sorry to be a bother Khloris."

She gave him a look of total disbelief. "Trust me, you are not being a bother. You know," She told more than asked him, "I think you are one of the most interesting people I have met." At least today, she tacked on silently.
When he brushed at his hair, her ears perked up at the rattling sound she heard. Not really realizing where it was from she gave him a curious look over. Now that she thought of it she realized that she did not really recognize where he was from. Of course the Human for could be very misleading at times, but the coloration of his hair at least was not familiar. Maybe hid dyed it?
Tilting her head to the side she asked softly. "I hope you do not mind or find me rude, but, can I ask you where you are from?" She gave a wave of her paw to take in her fur coloration before waving it up and down as if to take in his form, hoping that would help clarify her question.
