"You'll have the honor of my presences if that's what you wish. I wouldn't want to make an assumptions," He grinned as stood to offer her his free hand. It was a splendid evening, and even though Theofilus enjoyed reading, he wasn't about to turn down a lovely lady.
He waited until she had stood before he did anything. Absently his fingers tapped the book cover. Hopefully he was going to have a good evening and so was Miss Anya. If it wasn't good it would at least be interesting. "If you'll follow me I'll show you to the proper place. We'll have to walk though, I still haven't quite remastered flight without my depth perception." He grinned. Things would be a lot easier if he could fly without crash landing. One day he would figure out how to do it properly. For now he would focus on other matters.

Carefully, so as not to cut the Selkie male with her long nails, Anya accepted the proffered hand and allowed him to help her to her feet. Oh, Anya did so love a gentleman!
"I would be delighted to have your company, Your Majesty." With her hand still lightly within Theo's own, Anya took full advantage of the chance to keep herself close at his side.
As he mentioned his loss of depth perception, Anya found her gaze drifting upward to brush the eye patch that concealed the wound left in his battle for Queenship. That was really such a shame, his remaining eye was so very handsome. Ah well, it really didn't mar his appearance much. In fact, in Anya's opinion, it lent a little prestige to his person.
"No worry at all, sir. I have nothing against a stroll through the grounds." Especially not with The Queen of Diamonds himself as her guide.
What luck!

Theofilus couldn't help but smirk a little as the strolled down the path. "I'm very glad that you're willing to accompany me."
It took a while to walk the whole way. At least they could enjoy the moonlight raining down on the scenery. Theofilus always did enjoy the way things looked at night.
"Do you have any particular hobbies that you enjoy, Miss Anya?" He asked as they continued down the path. Making light conversation would fill the night air with more than just anticipation. They had quite a way to go. "Though I imagine Bander breeding is time consuming."
Almost there. They just had to get inside and go up several flights of stairs. He could always take a short cut if things got too terribly boring. However he didn't imagine that Miss Anya would run out of things to say so quickly. Well, he could only hope.

Anya edged a little closer to Theofilus as they walked, enjoying the warmth of his body against hers and the glow of moonlight on their surrounds. It gave everything such a ...romantic air.
"Oh, I must say it is. Though I don't mind at all, really. Banders are wonderful creatures, though some are a little...ill mannered." The quetzal's golden orbs flashed briefly, a coy smile quirking onto her features. "You just have to know how to manage 'em, though, and they shape up quick."
Laughing softly, she shook her head and returned to his previous question.
"But yes, hobbies... I must seem a little boring, but I love reading and traveling, on the rare occasion that I get to go other places. It's so nice to get out and see other places." And, well, she had to admit she had a quiet love for fancy parties and socializing, but it wasn't entirely flattering to mention you were a chatty little thing, now was it? "What about you, Your Majesty, what sort of hobbies do you have?"

Romance wasn't on Theofilus's mind. He would be happy to know that this was classified as a romantic evening. Then again it was by the lake notorious for romantic meetings, he should have put two and two together.
Theofilus raised an eyebrow at the bander comment. Xanthe was an egomaniac with a bad temper, Fern had a personal vendetta against everyone who wasn't Eilwyn, Nikita was an ankle bitting nightmare, Velveteen and Azzurra at least had redeeming qualities but... most of the Banders he had met were terrors. He imagined that breeders knew something he didn't or had... some amazing love.
Reading and traveling? Those were two nice hobbies, now where they? He grinned when she asked about his. "Well, I enjoy reading, learning different kinds of magic, and things along those lines. Nothing all that fantastic, most of my time is taken up by Court issues." And spending time with his family, but she didn't need to know that. Then again, she probably did--who hadn't heard about his large family.

While romance wasn't the foremost thought in Anya's mind, a lovely lady could always find a bit of glamor in such moments. Especially when a handsome Queen took interest in her. That alone had this night outshining any candle-lit dinner she'd ever been treated to. Status was worth it's weight in gold and diamonds, it was all Anya had ever known.
The pause that her comment gave him was enough to lift a delicate giggle from Anya. That really must surprise most, to know that the lovely and well-mannered Quetzal enjoyed taming wild and vicious banders.
"O! Magic... I've heard you're brilliantly talented...and exceptionally powerful at that." Anya's gaze slid up his frame, lingering briefly on his eye. She'd heard about his fight with the previous Queen, gruesome really. Anya didn't have the nerve to fight other Cards, and especially not to the death. "I would love to see a demonstration some day, if you'd be willing."

"Well, I'm not brilliant. I just have an interesting array of powers under my belt." Theofilus said as he tried to keep his modesty. "Actually when we get back to my room I can show you a little power of mine. By the way.... did you have fun in Capital City?" He had previously paid no attention to his conversational ability. He could see the last place the person had been, and apparently Anya had spent some time in the Capital.
"But if you like I could scry for you." It was that or the birds, and the birds were not for social situations. And subjecting a nice young lady to something like that was an awful thing to do. It took them a while to get to Theofilus' room. However they had quite a bit of conversation on their way there. Interests, hobbies, banders, magic and such were discussed. Theofilus was happy that for once he didn't have to deal with politics.

As much as Anya admired the courts for their royalty and prestige, they were simply not the place for her. She had her own array of politics to deal with, the buying, selling, and trading of banders was her game and to relearn the political dance for the Courts would be tiring.
Not to mention that she had no intention of leaving The Highlands for the Courts. The Highlands were her home and as a respectable breeder she had no intention of leaving.
"O! Scrying! I would love to see you scry." The Quetzal's eyes brightened curiously and her feathers fluffed up prettily in excitement. Wasn't that a form of fortune telling? Anya had never seen that sort of magic before and she had to admit it sounded quite intriguing, especially so if it worked properly. "Are you quite good at it, Your Majesty?" Not to doubt his abilities, of course, but he was a Queen not a God; he had to learn things just like everyone else.

Theofilus couldn't help but chuckle at her comment. Honestly he only managed the ability because of his Queenship. He had plenty of time to practice and understand the magic in his free time.
"I wouldn't want to brag, so shall we find out if I'm good or not?" He said with a smile. He fiddle with the lock for the moment before swinging his bedroom door open. He gave her a slight bow motioning for her to go first. He may have been a Queen but he was still a gentleman. Once they were in the atrium of his rather large room Theofilus directed the young woman to his study.
The study was a simple little room, the walls were covered by bookshelves, and there was a small writing desk that was filled with various sheets of paper and two or so covered inkwells. There was cabinet filled with glass figures and a rather out of place goblet. The lock on it was obviously broken and various scratches showed wear and tear on the rather ornately decorated piece. It was obviously there out of fondness rather than fashion.
"If you'd be willing to take a seat at my writing desk I'll get the proper equipment," He said cheerfully as he walked towards the cabinet. Opening the bottom part he produced a stand with a candle and a crystal ball. He always felt silly when he "played" with this sort of stuff.
"So I can look into your future, but if it's more than a years time I can't give you a definite answer. Is that all right?" He asked setting the stand on the table. He had to find his matches before he did anything else.
